Life, no one knows how it originated or how it was created, but there’s one thing for sure, life is a precious thing that no one would be able to replicate, surprisingly not even with magic you can create life.

Life is beautiful, powerful, and fragile at the same time, one day you’re at the top and the next day you’re gone because if there’s something that’s for sure is that at some point life will end, even for a sorcerer like me who is apparently immortal as long as I don’t get in trouble, I know that the possibility of dying is small but it can happen to me too.

The same thing happened to Sir Whiskers, his ego overcame his reason, and his arrogance was his downfall because it seems like he captured all the dogs in the city and confined them in one place, and that place just happens to be the one where he fell a few moments ago.

“Sir Whiskers!” I said as I ran towards the window where he jumped and the townsfolk who were chasing after him followed me.

We tried to search for the cat but we knew it was useless, the dogs were savage, just a few moments ago that cat jumped from this window and I guess he was expecting to land on the barrier where the dogs are confined, but considering there was a fuss the moment he fell and the dogs got out of control, and the fact that we didn’t hear about Sir Whiskers after that just confirms one thing…

He’s gone from this world, and my suspicions were confirmed the moment I saw one dog walking as if he owned the place, there were some interesting characteristics about this dog, he had one eye closed and he had a scar on his eye but there’s another shocking sight, he’s carrying something with his mouth and at least for me that thing looks like Sir Whiskers’ tail, I couldn’t help but gulp at the sight.

I wanted to continue analyzing the situation but then a painful scream echoed in this place.

“Jaggi!” It was him, I ran as fast as I could to get back to the room where he was being detained.

“Allee… What happened?” I asked with concern.

“I don’t know, he fell on his knees and started to cry and scream,” Allee was confused because as soon as I joined the room, my former friend had a blank expression on his face.

I took a moment to look at him before I nodded.

“You know it right?” I asked Jaggi before I grabbed him from his chin to make him look at me but he didn’t change his expression. “He’s gone… Sir Whiskers has been eaten by those dogs you guys had confined on the other side of the building,” I confirmed what I thought he was thinking.

Allee’s eyes widened after hearing those words, it was a shocking reveal after all, I wasn’t surprised to see her react like that, after all, she has a soft heart for animals, she felt bad when she fought against those fireflies a few hours ago.

“Kazz… Is it true?” Asked Allee with a concerned expression.

“Yes… He’s gone, I saw it with my own eyes and I know you’re quite aware of that Jaggi, I know you two are connected I know you have always been,” I looked at my former friend for one last time.

“So what’s next Kazz?” Alle asked me with a worried expression. “Well, now it’s time for justice to be served,” I grabbed Jaggi to treat him as he deserved to be treated, like a criminal.

“Kazz… I can’t do it, I can’t take a life I—” Allee tried to negotiate with me.

“Don’t worry, you don’t have to do anything, the townsfolk are going to take care of him... But I'm going to need your help to carry him,” Allee was surprised by my words but nodded relieved.

Once we walked outside the room, the citizens of this town were waiting for us.

“Guys I know what you’re trying to do—” I couldn’t finish because I was soon interrupted.

“We’re thankful because you saved us, sorcerer, however, you can't stop us from getting justice!” The mayor complained.

“Stop you? I’m trying to help you guys, come on, let’s take this scum outside,” after hearing my words they happily cheered at me.

The mayor of the town guided us to the main plaza where he usually gives speeches, and now that Jaggi was in the center I needed to explain some things.

“Listen guys, you need to take care of this,” I ripped Jaggi’s shirt and the people of this town were surprised to see that the man had a gem on his chest, it was crystal clear it was where his heart should be.

And then something surprising happened, Jaggi got on his feet and he started to laugh like crazy.

“All of you are dead already… And if I get destroyed today don’t worry… I’ll come back in a hundred years and your descendants will be the ones who will receive my punishment,” he threatened everyone.

I couldn’t help but admire him, even in this situation he was still fighting, that’s something that made me admire him.

“You’ll pay for what you did to Sir Whiskers… Not only you but the dogs too, all the dogs in the world will pay for your sins!” He then did something I wasn’t expecting.

His gem started to glow and suddenly his whole body turned into fluorescent blinding ashes, and his gem separated from his body, I knew what he was trying to do, luckily I was not the same sorcerer I was before, I'm stronger now.

“Where do you think you’re going!” I screamed at the ashes who were trying to fly away from here.

I raised my hands and I managed to stop the ashes and the gem from flying away, the ashes were powerful there’s no doubt about it, I know the humans in this place were not expecting this action from him, it may look like Jaggi committed self-destruction, but actually, what he did was a very smart escape tactic that we sorcerers are taught to do since we’re little.

No one knows where the ashes and the gem go, we all know that they go outside of Earth and fly across the universe after that, the ashes come back and they make the self-destroyed sorcerer reappear again, however, the downside of this is that the time it takes is completely random, it could take from just a few days to even millennia.

But considering Jaggi comes from a powerful family, they could even make a ritual to accelerate the process, I couldn't let that happen.

“I won’t let you do that Jaggi!” I took a little enchanted bag and little by little I started to attract the ashes and surprisingly I managed to get them inside the bag and that was more than enough to control them, luckily I always carry one of these.

As for the gem, it didn’t take too long before it fell on the ground completely defeated, it was finally over and the habitants of the town managed to recover from their temporal blindness.

“What the—” Allee was confused. “Where’s Jaggi?” She was getting worried.

“Don’t worry he's safe here,” I laughed before I showed her the little bag where I saved his ashes.

“Is that his gem!?” Asked one of the habitants as he pointed to a pure white diamond.

“Don’t get any closer!” I said as I saw some people’s eyes, it seemed like not even a situation like this could stop greediness.

I walked slowly towards where the gem was and with my staff I pointed towards the gem, it didn’t take too long before my staff absorbed Jaggi’s soul gem, and once again everyone was blinded by the light this caused.

“Nice!” I said happily, the power of my staff has increased.

Once they had the chance to see me again, the people of the town looked at me with confused expressions.

“Guys…Everyone, please don’t get close to magical artifacts or things related to sorcerers as they have high concentrations of radiation which can be harmful to non-magical people,” those words made the citizens feel scared.

The reaction I got from them made me feel happy, making non-magical people feel bad once in a while feels good, however, I didn’t want to see my friend worried.

“Don’t worry everyone,” I clarified my voice. “Anti-acid rain…” I said in an ancient language as I pointed my staff to the sky.

A blue ray was shoot from my staff and it reached the clouds so fast that even managed to surprise me, and this ray caused a more refreshing rain to start, the clouds even changed from red to blue color.

“The water of this rain will help you get rid of all the possible radiation you may have been exposed to from Jaggi and me during these past few hours,” I said with a smile and everyone cheered and started to dance and celebrate in the rain.

“You did it Kazz… You freed this town!” Allee said with a smile on her face.

Those words made me feel weird, I’m a sorcerer, I’m not supposed to act like that, I’m supposed to be selfish and only think about myself, after all, non-magical humans were the ones who caused the last cataclysm, they should be hated.

“Well, I hope we get paid for this at least!” I said trying to not look happy at her words. “It has been a good idea to come to this town anyway, I managed to upgrade my staff and I got stronger but also…” I said with a calm expression.

“Also?” Alle was curious.

“I fulfilled the first step of my wishful vengeance against my former friends!” I couldn’t help but smirk and Allee was taken back a little due to my attitude. “Oh, that’s right, we’re going to engrave these ashes in your sword, trust me, it’s going to be worth it, after all, those are ashes from one of the descendants of the founding families,” I smirked at her.

“Is that so? I was thinking that maybe you could use his soul though,” Allee scratched the back of her head.

“No, that soul already belongs to someone!” I said with a smirk on my face.

Allee couldn’t see what I was seeing but in the sky, entering into a black hole, there it was the messenger of death and she was carrying the soul of Jaggi who was screaming at me in hopes of being helped, and she also was carrying the pieces of Sir Whisker’s soul, it seems like she wasn’t able to find all of them.

“Sorcerer by the name Kazz… Good luck, I’ll tell Mama, Papa, and my sisters about you, I’m sure you’ll entertain us in the underworld!” She waved at me before she smirked and disappeared into the nothingness of space.

“Kazz… Kazz… Kazz!” Allee’s loud voice made me get out of my thoughts.

“Oh… What is it, Allee?” I asked after she surprised me.

“What do we do now?” She wondered with a worried look.

I smirked, it was time to show my friend my true powers.

“Let’s start by rebuilding this town,” I said with a convinced expression and she was a little confused about my words.

Soon I made a screen appear in front of me but only I could see it, there were a bunch of numbers and letters arranged like a code.

“Okay, here it is, this is the hour in which we arrived, let’s move this thing here and here and then…” I said before the screen disappeared.

Little by little, piece by piece, the place was starting to get back to its place just as it was just before we arrived.

“W-what is that power Kazz?” Allee was stunned.

“Is just a basic power all sorcerers have, we can re-arrange the environment to make it back to its previous state, however, you can only get it back to the same state as it was a day before because that’s the max limit our magical log can keep up to,” I smiled at her and she was more confused than before but she smiled at me anyway.

“I don’t get it but it’s good this town can recover!” The young knight said with a smile adorning her face.

“Come on Allee, it’s a happy time now, let’s celebrate your adulthood with a special drink!” Surprisingly she seemed excited about the idea, we needed to find a bar…

Meanwhile in the outskirts of the city.

“Wait… Didn’t you say this city was being hidden by an evil sorcerer?” A giant muscular woman with light green skin and horns said.

“That’s what the request said,” A woman with a witch hat mumbled.

“Who cares? As long as there are cute women, let’s get inside!” A fat older bald green orc said before he sipped the liquid from a bottle.

“Leader… Are you okay?” A not-so-tall boy with dark hair said, he was carrying a bow on his back.

The only response the boy got was a loud scream from the leader who suddenly pulled out two claymores, she was holding one on each arm.

“I’m going to destroy whoever sabotaged our work!” After saying those words the leader started to run towards the city.

And everyone except the orc sighed before they followed her…

Curiosity #14: Magical people have a deep connection with the stars and space for some reason…
