You awoke at the familiar wooden bunk bed’s ceiling. The sun has yet to rise but your roommate Jina has already woken up from her slumber, she moves about to prepare for the big day. The cold air sneaking its way in through the closed windows sends shivers through your shoulders, cupping them in reflex. You stood up as well getting on your casual clothes to head to your usual morning routine, then heading back to your dorm room to change in your cadet uniform. On your way from here and to, you notice that the other cadets are also abuzz as they all rush and prepare for the big day today.

The final evaluation that’ll decide for the graduation.

Now, all of you cadets neatly stand in the formation against the dawning blue sky. Standing still, already looking every bit like a soldier you are compared to looking like an undisciplined band of ragtags. Each and every one of you now call back to the first days you guys were here. Starting from three hundred cadets three years ago, now only stand a hundred and forty-two cadets. A testament to the hard work you all made through the grueling training. Today is the final evaluation, and even after all the effort, there are still chances that some of you will not make the cut for graduation.

“Lookin’ alive cadets!” Instructor Wittman shouts as he greets you all, walking in front of the formation. “Today will be the final evaluation! Each and every one of you will go through one final hell!” He begins, “First, you all will go through plains with only six wooden poles scattered in the area! The plains will be filled with titan dummies! You will only be allowed one refill for your gas! Your starting point will be marked by a red point A, and your completion mark will be a green point B! The requirement to pass is to pass through point B, killing the most titan dummies with the least resources!"

‘What? That’s pretty intense ain’t it?’ The cadets will be forced to steal each other’s titan dummy counts all the while navigating through a vast plain with the titan dummies the only thing they could attach their anchors to. In a real battle, this would easily sound like a dangerous situation. Then you hear Instructor Wittman shout again, “Second, you must run through an obstacle course in your ODM gears, this passage is filled with all kinds of ambushes and traps! Stay alive cadets and dedicate your hearts!” He ends with a salute to his chest.

“Yes sir!” All of the cadets including you shout in response, your heartfelt salute to our chest. “I can’t hear you!” Instructor Wittman shouts louder than ever, “YES SIR!” The cadets including you shout once more as you all thump your upward fists to your chest.

*

All one hundred and forty-two cadets stand in formation, facing the vast plains of the training ground against the hot sunny morning. An army of dummy titans scattered in the vast plains facing different directions. Cadet Corps officers would move the dummy titans to face a different direction. ‘Well, that’s just great’. You say to yourself as you hold your hand grips sticking them on the blades that are housed by your gear. Attaching the blades to your hand grips, you unsheathe them feeling the most badass you’ve ever been since you were born twice. You prepare to aim your hand grips toward your first titan dummy. You had planned to use the skill Multi Attack on the first few titans then rinse and repeat. Thanks to your high dexterity stats, you would be using less gas than you did before. You wait for the red signal flare as you prepare in a stance.

Bang! And fire goes the red signal flare. The moment it did, you immediately launched your anchors using all the spins and bridges you could to gain momentum and speed. You’ve become more effective at this thanks to your DEX, AGI and CON stats. You zipped past the other cadets who went ahead of you and immediately activated your Multi Attack skill “killing” three titan napes in multiple succession as you did so. You decided to rinse and repeat, zigzagging through the titan dummies with incredible speed.

‘What the hell? That’s wicked!’ Kate looked at you as she killed the titan dummies on her own. She couldn’t help but marvel at your strength and skill as you zip by them. She pulled the trigger of her hand grips, releasing her anchors as it drew spirals in the air. She vertically spun and flipped to gain momentum and speed before attacking the nape. ‘That’s four of them!’ She thought to herself, but she wanted to push herself to do more. She then released her anchors and shot it anchoring on a tree while the other one anchored on a titan dummy propelling herself to circle around the dummy. The sunny breeze caressed her face as she did so while the sky became closer and closer to her. She then performed a vertical spin mid-air as she reshotted her anchors towards the titan dummy. She then propelled herself in incredible speed slicing the titan dummy and then another one after another. Soon, she was done and over with seven titan dummies!

“Wow, Kate is really hitting it!” One cadet exclaimed as they sliced their titan dummy. So far the average titan dummy hits of all the cadets are five! And Kate hitting it to seven when she had just begun is already awesome! Me too! The unnamed cadet thought to himself as he propelled himself flying with his ODM gear slicing up his third titan dummy!

Meanwhile, on the other side of the field, Kayle swiftly mobilized himself through the vast plains, anchoring himself titan-dummy after titan-dummy slicing their napes with swift motions. He has become proficient in his ODM maneuvering skills over the past three years to the point he’s making fewer and fewer sounds or noises save for his anchors latching onto the surfaces as he maneuvers around. His fellow cadets didn’t even notice him zip by. It’s either they were too focused or he didn’t really make any noises when he sliced through several titans with ease. He shot his anchors and performed spins to break the momentum as he reshot his anchors propelling himself and slicing another dummy. Making it a total of eleven titan dummies he sliced!

As Jina opened her eyes after her short prayer she shot her anchors and flew on her ODM gear, she made a series of maneuvers as she remembered Lena’s teachings to her. I’m not giving up! Jina thought to herself as she shot her anchors, circling around titan after titan. Her blonde hair flowed like cascading waterfalls as she flew up in the sky and then shot her anchors to the titan dummy directly below her. With the aid of gravity and her maneuvering skills, she propelled herself faster than anyone else slicing the titan dummy’s nape effectively. So far she’s made six titan dummy slices! ‘I did it!’ She thought to herself, her eyes brimming with joy at her success!

Instructor Wittman alongside the other Cadet Corps officers observed everyone from a high platform and a shelter. He watched all the cadets on the vast training grounds. He graded each and every one honestly his eyes squinting. Of course, all of their performance during the previous training, evaluations, and classes will also be taken into account.

Jina Flois, to Instructor Wittman, is more suitable for an office job where her intellect is put to better use. Like the technician department, financial administration department, or chemistry department. However, upon closer inspection of her performance, she had drastically improved. To the point that Jina’s performance just might make the cut to the Top 10 if no one else overshadowed her abilities this time around. He hears it’s due to Section Commander Lena’s close teaching. “No wonder she improved so much.”Instructor Wittman told to himself. But Jina will definitely graduate. Her determination and hard work have pushed her to reach this far after all, in time along with her intellect, Instructor Wittman is sure that she’ll definitely be able to climb the ranks.

Wittman evaluated all the other cadets his eyes shifting from his paper to the cadets in the field as he stood, he moved his pen against the surface of the paper as he did so.

Alric Protz, thoughtful and idealistic. He’s better suited for leading teams as an individual soldier however, he excels mostly in his ODM gear skills. Both his academics and hand-to-hand combat fall on average. Titan dummies killed so far twelve.

Athala Kuhn. Quick-witted and audacious, she isn’t afraid of a challenge. She usually gets into verbal fights and always wins with reason. She has a competitive spirit which she pours towards he lectures and ODM maneuvering skills.

*

Athala now went to the second phase of evaluation, she zipped through the forest, allowing her weight and speed to gain momentum before propelling herself with the gas, allowing her to use as little gas as possible. He has to preserve it after all for the obstacle ODM course. He had thought that the obstacle course would be filled with lots of unexpected traps, making her extremely aware of his surroundings. She grew up an older sister to seven other younger children in the Dauper Village of Wall Rose, and because of that, she had a habit of leading and protecting the people around her like how she would her siblings. Her competitiveness to become the strongest also came from her siblings as her motivating reason. Although Athala herself doesn’t know that.

Of how she passed by the trees that surrounded her as he reached the second phase of evaluation, the sunlight spilling through the small gaps between the leaves of the trees above him. Of how he’d be aware of the sounds of her fellow cadets, anchors zipping in the distance. Or how the wind would breeze past him as she gained even more speed in her ODM. She’s making herself aware of what other possible traps there could be as she watches her surroundings with a focused gaze.

Just then several titan dummies appeared in front of her, ‘It was an ambush!’ Panicked, she almost fell, her wires getting caught in one of the dummies. She had to release her anchors back, making her fall, bumping into one of the dummies. But she’s not one to give up! Just as he was falling she performed a vertical spin, his ODM gear releasing gas to help him reposition favorably. Her quick thinking had saved him from possibly falling to her death or with severe injuries. She reshot her anchors circling around the tree and back to the titan dummies, with gritted teeth slicing their napes off with quick precision. Just as then, a figure blurred past her, slicing the other three titan dummies before him! ‘That-! That could’ve hit me!’ Had she pushed forward, he would’ve been in the vicinity to be sliced by that person’s blade. Pissed, she chased at the person, to tell them their too reckless.

Athala always had a competitive side to her, besides the frustrating attitude of her fellow cadet she felt as though she finally found her match! With a grin, Athala chased after that cadet. The cool wind was with her, as she performed a series of skillful maneuvers with great flexibility, allowing her to speed up much faster. Then there she found the cadet who recklessly zipped past her earlier, her back facing her as she sped through the forest without having any idea that Athala was right behind her. Thank the goddesses that she was able to spot a contraption held by a cadet officer, and because of that Athala was able to anticipate the incoming trap or ambush that was about to come. She then flipped herself backward, allowing her ODM gear to break her speed with a burst of gas. She then reshot her anchors on a higher point, just then a titan dummy sprang forth in the way of that cadet’s way.

Upon getting on a higher point of view, she was able to see that cadet’s face as she maneuvered skillfully upwards. That cadet was notorious for making a joke of the basic evaluation of the ODM gear, for “stealing” dummy hits by decapitating them, and most importantly for being one of the rumored possible candidates for Top 10. Back then, Athala only had sliced a maximum of nine dummies compared to her usual ten dummies because of that cadet–Eve.

Just as she was watching you skillfully dodged that titan dummy ambush and then swiftly sliced the titan dummy’s nape with ease. Her eyes and yours locked, you didn’t notice she was there. Her blonde ponytail swayed a she frowned at you before speeding up. She didn’t really like your nonchalant and carefree attitude. Everyone took their training seriously and yet all you did was hunt, clean, and poke fun with your friends. And when you actually do training you’d disappear off to your office administration training with Section Commander Lena. Just recently you disappeared again for nearly two weeks skipping that entire time’s training. She suspects that you’re using unjust means to slack off. She’s nearly convinced that you are, that is until he saw you maneuver on your ODM gear. Several other traps come your way and as if your movements were planned, you maneuver flipping yourself in one direction and then propelling yourself to a tree then on cue, you run your feet along the tree trunk as you avoid the traps. Then you leaped, using that jump to speed up yourself further.

She gritted her teeth and went back to focus, her competitive side awakening as she sped through the course. She spun, flew, and sliced to avoid the traps as she sliced the titan dummy napes on her way. She pushed herself to the limit spending the last fumes of her gas to slice one last titan dummy on her way out.

‘Fourteen titan dummies!’ She thought to herself with a grinning expression, her breathing ragged as her chest moved up and down as she breathed. She was satisfied with how she did, she'll definitely bag a Top 10 position for a lofty slot in the MPs! For her, that meant a bigger salary and her siblings would be able to live more comfortably.

Just then, she saw you laughing among your friends with that carefree expression again, trying to hold back her annoyance she ignored you.

It’s been a few days since the tests for the evaluation ended. You were surprised that they also tested you with written materials. In the anime you only saw them being evaluated via practical performance, you totally had not expected that there’d be an examination of sorts. Because of that, you crammed the night before and of course, you’re not comfortable you’ll pass at all.

“Eve, let’s go!” Jina called out for you eager to check the final results of the cadets’ graduation and ranking. Then you felt the familiar weight of Kate’s arm hanging over your shoulders and you saw Kayle walking up to you three with a smile, “What are you waiting for Eve, today is the day!” You smiled at them mouthing “Mhm!” sound in agreement.

The training ground is crowded more than ever and also more noisier, the bright sun nearly blinds your eyes the moment you step out to the training grounds. A bulletin board twice your height towers over a hundred or more cadets that crowd the bulletin board. The four of you squeezed your way closer to the bulletin board until you could make out some of the letters to be readable for you four.

With excitement, the four of you watched the bulletin board with amazement in your eyes,

“Look, Eve! I reached the Top 10!” Jina exclaims as she points to the board with her name on it.

“Rank 10  - Jina Flois”

The letters on the board read, your eyes widened, and looked at Jina with a smile, “I told you! If you work harder you’ll reach it soon enough!” You smile at the happy Jina as she takes in the moment of victory. Then you saw Kayle’s pointing finger across your vision, “Look!”

“Rank 5 - Kayle Altmann”

“I got Top 5! Haha,” He says as he places his hands akimbo on his waist, with a grinning expression on his face. Kate looked at the board and she clicked her tongue, “Well, I already expected something like this would be my place.”

“Rank 6 - Kate Fischer”

Your eyes scanned to find your name, and upon noticing your presence, the other cadets moved out of your way only then did you finally see your name,

“Rank 1 - Eve Cromwell”

You couldn’t believe it–well that is to be expected especially if you used a cheat thing like “System”. You felt a bit dishonest about the results but you interrupted your thought as you remembered all the hunting, and pest control you did while cleaning.

‘I worked hard for this too!’

You say to yourself as you justify your cheat skill the “System”. You should be ashamed of yourself–anyways, you then feel Jina hold your hand as she smiles, “That’s amazing, Eve!” She then adds, “Honestly, we're not surprised,” Then you feel Kate slap your back with a grin on her face, “I expected nothing less of you, Eve!” You then look at the bulletin again and noticed that only a hundred and twenty made the cut.

“Woah! Top 1!” You hear hushed voices from the other cadets, “Honestly I’m not surprised, she already had potential but to top it all off, I heard Section Commander Grieves personally trained her!” “What really?! That same Lena Grieves?!” “Yeah, my Squad Leader said she had quite the titan kills during her prime!” “Yeah! I heard it was around 72 solo kills?” “Woah damn, Eve must be really lucky then to be taught by such a person.” This is probably the first time you’d be actually hearing about Lena. You can’t help but wonder why no one has told you about this, Lena herself didn’t say anything about her past. Picturing Lena well she didn’t strike you as someone who’d boast, and neither did her right-hand man whose name you don’t know or barely meet because he’s usually busy. ‘Honestly, though that kill count is impressive!’ You thought to yourself.

Then suddenly you hear a loud booming voice, “Alright cadets! Discipline! Get in formation!” you sigh as you follow Wittman’s voice and the sounds of scampering footsteps as all of the cadets get in their formation. You were instructed along with the rest of the other Top 10 cadets, to line up in front of the formation. As you are the Top 1 and are standing in front, you straighten your posture even more than before.

“Cadets! Attention!” You hear a Cadet Corps officer who seemed like a higher authority than Wittman speaking up in front. He stood above a higher platform against the bright sun, his hands behind his back in a formal posture. He then adds, “From here on out you are soldiers! Dedicating your lives to protect humanity!” He then proceeds to explain the three regiments you are all to join, “First, you have the Garrison Regiment, whose responsibility lies in protecting and manning all three Walls, the last defensive ground we have left for mankind! Second, the Survey Corps, whose responsibility is to scout braving the outside walls to one day reclaim the land for us humans! Lastly, the Military Police Regiment, whose responsibility is to maintain order within the Walls and serve the King! Only the best of the best are allowed to join the Military Police!” He then looks up at the 10 cadets in front of him, “Liven up cadets! These are the top of your class!”

Besides you, Jina, Kate, and Kayle there are also familiar-looking cadets that made the cut to the Top 10, one of them is the blonde-haired girl with so much fire and competitive spirit you met earlier.

“From this day onward, the 96th Cadet Corps General Division now disbands! Congratulations soldiers!”

“Dedicate your hearts!” This time instead of addressing you as cadets, he is now addressing you as soldiers ready to die for the sake of humanity. He then gave you a one true salute and you felt it. Just like you the rest of the hundred and twenty cadets felt it as well. They returned the salute now, as soldiers.

*

Later that afternoon, an after-party for the cadets is in place. You originally planned to make a grand sing and dance concert, but alas the life of a graduating cadet prevents you so. So you only decided to sing your small group of friends a song later in the evening.

You looked around the mess hall, and holy it is indeed a big number of cadets in here and you don’t think this is even all of the hundred or more so. You see familiar faces and faces you’ve only seen now despite the three years you’ve been here as a cadet. The warm glow from the fire-lit lamps glows across the mess hall. Delicious food is served only just for this day. You reckon that the Cadet Corps officers must’ve also pooled their gold into this in addition to the funds already available for a proper send-off. Because there’s just no way that the government would allow an after-party like this coming from the taxes. Alcohol in hand, you sat in a corner with your friends, Jina has a weak alcohol intolerance, and being the innocent cinnamon roll of the group you decided to stay sober for as long as you could so you could watch over her. While Kayle is out there enjoying himself as he dances with Kate and the others. You smile thinking “Look at them hit it off! Alcohol courage really is something.”

You’re not really a fan of crowds, you may be friendly but a crowd like this tires you out if you try and pretend to be an extrovert or a minute longer. You sigh as you resigned to yourself that you’d just sing that damn song at the dorm later this evening. Just as you were about to get Jina with you in your dorms safely, one of the cadets caught you. You look at him, and he smiles, “Ah you’re Eve right? I’m Engel Möller.” He says as he reaches out his hand for a handshake, “Eve Cromwell.” You smile extending your hand as well for a handshake. He then begins the reason for his approaching you, “We were curious about what regiment you’ll be joining!” Oh right if you remember correctly, this guy is one of those in the Top 10 who was standing in line earlier. He has short curly hair, which is a unique feature you thought and a tall frame accompanied with an amicable smile. You wanted to go out for a break from the crowd but you just can’t rudely refuse a friendly and polite person like that, “I plan to join the Survey Corps.” You say with a gentle smile. His eyes widen in surprise, “But I thought that’s why you strived to be Top 1.”

You give him a smile as you sip the alcohol from your mug, “Not to shame other people’s career choices but I didn’t train to fight titans for three years just to hide within the inner walls.” You smile putting down your mug, you watch the other person get stumped with your answer. You continued, “In the same way that we guarantee that these walls will never break after protecting us for a hundred years, we can’t guarantee that they won’t ever break in the future. And for how long? If I just leave it to others my own fate alongside the fate of mankind who will save mankind then? I’m not too comfortable with leaving my fate or the fates of those I cared for in someone else’s hands. Each and every one of us here is free to make choices to preserve our own fate and I’m not about to waste it. I’ll take my own fate into my own hands.” You can make the choice to preserve your own fate within the inner walls, but I’m making this choice to preserve my fate and those I care about. To achieve that I have to become strong, even stronger.” You say in a gentle manner, careful not to rile anyone up but something within your eyes speaks the immovable resolve you just showed them.

‘To become the Top 1 simply because she wanted to preserve her own fate and the fate of others into her own hands?’

‘That sounds idealistic but for some reason, she has a point. We can’t guarantee the walls not break simply because we haven’t seen them break yet. Not to mention, there’s so little we know about titans. A wall won’t be able to guarantee that it’ll protect mankind from the unpredictability of titans.’

Engel thought to himself as he pondered over your words. Everyone was just going to ask you how to be strong like you, but it seemed they already knew the answer. “I see, so the fate of humans being hopelessly weak against the titans drove you to become stronger so that you could overcome that fate?” Someone else interjected a woman who looked a way younger your age she had a caramel-like hair color, which fell down smoothly to her shoulders, framing her pale freckled face.

Eh? I didn’t mean it like that though, but that does sound nice. You thought, you really have no idea how your words were twisted like that but you like how it was twisted in a good way. Don’t lie, the truth is that your gaming habits from your past life just took over you whenever you feel satisfied in farming SPs. Nothing about “mankind overcoming their helpless fate against the titans” was ever in your mind when you were farming SPs.

‘But at least I did think of saving my family at least.’

Perhaps, that’s the only genuine and valuable thing about your mindset right now, but you said nothing when that question was posed to you. You only smiled with your gaze looking slightly melancholic, as you raised your gaze in a toast. “Let’s dedicate our hearts.” You say, as you watch their faces turn pensive and grim.

‘Great, I ruined a party…’ You sighed to yourself. “Yes, let’s dedicate our hearts!” The with a caramel-like hair color woman said alongside Engel. The woman with a caramel-like hair color scratched her face a bit feeling shy and embarrassed at your words.

“Don’t misunderstand,” You sheepishly laugh, “Just know that I have nothing against your career choices, it’s your freedom to choose and preserve your own fate and dreams after all.” You say giving a weak smile. You held out your hand to shake hands with the woman, only then did she realize she was talking abruptly to you, a random stranger without even introducing herself. “It’s alright, I understand where you’re coming from,” She said as she extended her hand to you, “Ah, where are my manners?” She laughs, “My name is Diana Rall, nice to meet you, Eve.” You gave her a gentle smile, your first meeting her and her words were words of understanding and empathizing, ‘I like how she thinks,’ You thought to yourself before responding with, “Likewise Diana, you feel like a very sensible person. That’s nice of you.” She gave a small laugh in return, “Thank you, it’s no big deal.” You slowly redirected the conversation to the reason for the party, getting to know about Engel and Diana as the atmosphere slowly recovered from grim to a slow burn of the evening party.

“Hey there’s been rumors around,” Engel elbowed you lightly, a grin flashing across his face a mug of alcohol in his other hand. “What rumors?” You ask, arching one of your eyebrows in both curiosity and confusion. You took some meat from the table and ate the delicious tender juiciness of the lean meat. Its savory flavor distracts you from your conversation with Engel. “They say that Section Commander Lena, personally trained you?” Engel said pressing further. You don’t remember Lena ever restricting you to reveal this information so you just nodded, “Yep that she did.” “Heard that she was one of the top veterans in the previous generation, you’re quite lucky Eve.” Diana smiles before continuing to listen to Engel’s interview, “So what was she like?” You pondered for a moment, remembering Section Commander Lena. Her serene and satisfied countenance whenever she drinks her favorite beverages and snacks. Her gentle yet strict method of training you and Jina, or how she’d give pointers to you and Jina to better improve your skills, or how she trusted you with the underground network, or how she shook your hand as you both began to fight for the same cause. “To me, she was like a strict yet sweet endearing auntie. The kind of person who’d make you feel safe and guided.” You say as you smile to yourself sipping from your mug. “I thought she’d be someone scarier than Instructor Wittman, turns out she’s more than that huh?” Diana said pointing her index finger to her imaginary picture of Instructor Wittman except a woman and a scarier one. “Nah she’s a lot like an auntie or a grandma.” You laugh to yourself, maybe Lena wouldn’t want you calling her grandma, “Well auntie, she’s a really good teacher.” You say chuckling to yourself.

As you further enjoyed the conversation, you learned that Engel Möller was from Wall Rose his father worked as a merchant traveling between the Walls. He ranked Top 3 which is pretty impressive, you thought to yourself.  While Diana Rall was from Wall Rose as well she ranked Top 8. The after-party ended with a quiet buzz and you took Jina with you to go back to the dorm. Everyone enjoyed themselves you searched the now empty Mess Hall, save for a few passed-out cadets on the table, for Kate. Who you can’t seem to find, you would’ve looked more but you have Jina with you, and you thought Kate could handle herself just fine. With her tough and tall physique, you doubt anyone would ever wanna mess with her.

The moon was already up as the night fell in deeper. All you could hear was the quiet symphonies of the crickets amid the swaying branches of the trees on the cold night. Thanks to the braziers and torches placed nearby, you managed to navigate your way just fine. You never knew someone as small as Jina could be as heavy as you hung her arm over your shoulders while your other arm supported the rest of her body. ‘Jina really enjoyed herself.’ And you’re glad that she did. It did not take long for you to get back to the dorm room. You laid down Jina gently on her bed as you took off her shoes, to help her sleep comfortably. You then put a blanket over her to keep her warm.

The entire dorm had already fallen in quietude, as they all slept in a warm buzz. But for you whose thoughts seemed to wander at this moment, you can’t seem to sleep yet. You heaved a sigh, you gave your room with Jina sleeping on her bed a last look before you head out into the stillness of the night.

Something about the dark starry night comforts you, it calms the turmoil deep within you. Oftentimes even during your past life, the taste of breaking things into smithereens and hearing the pained screams of your opponent as you use your strike them with your fists with reckless abandon gives you a satisfying ripple throughout your body.

‘Ugh, what a hypocrite.’ You thought to yourself as you let the night embrace you in its comforting serenity. You sat down on a nearby boulder under a towering tree as you rubbed your temples letting the harmony of the crickets, leaves, and the wind drown out your thoughts. For someone who ought to care for “humanity,” you do indulge yourself in fits of violence and hurt. You didn’t like this side of you, you never did even before you transmigrated. The duality of seeking peace and safety for the people you care about even the helpless strangers and children to the dark contrast of your repressed desire for destruction. How many times did it happen you pictured lifeless bodies done by your own hand? Or the way you revel in the act of using your hands to simply destroy and wage ruin?

You choke on your own thoughts, as you drown yourself in guilt way before you ever even committed any act. You looked up in the night sky, and then to the faraway Cadet Corps headquarters. You sighed, “I must be going crazy.” You tell yourself as you try to calm the bloodlust burning deep inside you. You lean your back to the tree behind you as you try to listen to the cold winds brushing against the leaves, the crickets singing their lullabies while the stars above you twinkle and slowly bury the abomination deep inside you.
