We got out of the bus, not saying a single word to each other.

I couldn't help but remember when it was easier to adress each other.

It seemed like we arrived at the perfect time, as we could see hordes of people all going in the same direction.

I hadn't noticed before, however by taking a single look, I could tell the subtle differences and similarities between the girls uniform and the one I was wearing. Instead of a tie, all the girls were wearing a dark red bow and a skirt going to their knee with black and red diamond patterns plastered all over it. The difference ending there, as they had the same jacket and shirt I was wearing on top of this ensemble.

Among all the people, I could notice someone somehow going in another direction. She was wearing the same uniform as Amy, wich meant she also was a first year. All the uniforms had a badge on the chest area with a number determining wich year one would be. Our three uniform had the number one on them.

"Why are you stopping all of a sudden, idiot ?", asked Amy in a particularly angry tone.

I could only point her to this peculiar individual that was going in the opposite direction everyone was going in. I tought that she must have been trying to avoid the ceremony for some reason.

"What the hell is that girl doing ? "

Amy expressed, as I could hear clearer anger in her voice.

I wondered what she could even be angry about. That was until the source of her worries became clearer and clearer. I would even say, way too clear and distinct.

The individual in question was getting closer to us,painting a better pictures of the two threats to her integrity Amy had just saw.

She was getting closer and closer.

Until being straight unto our face.

"Oh my god, you're so cute . I'm new in this town and don't know this school. I've been trying to ask for how to get to the place the entrance ceremony is in but I'm having touble finding where it is. I've been asking for a while but everyone gives me weird looks..."

We weren't impressed, altough I most certainly was by the fact she managed to say all those sentences back to back so fast.

Putting this matter aside, I wondered how could she be lost when the answer was right in front of her ? Was that even possible ? Was there really someone that bad at directions ?

"A lump of meat like you thinking i'm cute doesn't mean anything."

I couldn't believe Amy was going there. I knew it was a sensitive topic but she was rather fast of the naming conventions.

"I'm not a lump of meat! I am Maya! Maya Sakurasagi !"

It baffled me how she didn't understand she was insulting her.

Observing this girl some more, I could denote her peculiar appearance, intense red hair, coloured fingernails, voluptuous red lipstick and some pins on both the collar of her uniform and her bag. The pins had the form of different animals, on her bag, it was a panda and a bear while on her uniform, she opted for a rabbit. I wasn't even sure if we allowed to modify our uniforms that much. Looking at her eyes, I couldn't help but notice their non natural colour, as if they were purposedly harmonising her whole appearance.

They were golden coloured, a rare instance.

" Do you wear contacts ?"

I couldn't help but ask, confused about the peculiar pigment of her irises.

"No, why ?"

"Putting your meatballs aside, it's pretty obvious you're stupid ."

It looked like Amy had snapped and couldn't contain her anger concerning certain matters anymore .

" Meatballs ?! Stupid ?!"

" Yes, that's what I said, what are you gonna do about it, you cow !"

"A-Amy?"

"I'll have you know I'm very smart !"

"I mean, if you were smart in the first palce, you would have realised what you're searching is right in front of you !"

As they continued bockering, i quickly lost interest in their little petty battles, moving along completely ignoring them.

"Where are you going ?",asked Amy perplexed by my apparent lack of interest in her chest focused battle.

"I dunno about you but I'm not going to miss the ceremony because of her."

"I'm not "her", I'm Maya !"

I paid no mind to whatever Amy and her were saying, just going back to walking to the giant batiment in front of me, a towering building that was square shaped. A lily flower standing proud in the form of an insigna above the building. It was the school logo.

I took a deep  breath, relieving all my stress, happy to prospect a new chapter of my life.

As the student entered the building, a sound of trumpets started to reverberate trough the room, some grey haired woman wearing a lab coat distributing papers as we took our respective seat one by one .Maybe she was a science teacher, I tought paying her no mind. Soon, Amy and that Maya girl followed suit after me, Amy angrily sitting down, while letting out a "hmpf" sound. While the Maya girl was simply pouting while walking to her chair.

What was my surprise when she sat next to me but giving it some tought the seat Amy took and that seat were the only ones left, as everyone has alreaady taken hold of where they wanted to be the time they were arguing.

"Hey, sorry about earlier, I got angry and acted impolite. I forgot to ask, what's your name ?"

I didn't see the issue in telling her.

"Just call me Eiji."

"Hum, Eiji ... I think i'll call you Ei Ei. I don't understand why little Amy was so angry but I really do hope we can be friends . "

She was getting a little too chummy for liking, already giving nivknames to people she had known for at most five minute. Plus, she was pretty much entering my personal space, getting awfully close, looking at me. She was clearly waiting for a response.

Those golden eyes tough, they were somewhat hypnotizing, spiraling my brain into question about their existence I couldn't refute, preventing me to concentrate on her words.

"I mean, sure."

This was all I could say, completely distracted.

" Nice!"

She clenched her fist and jumped into the air, garnering the looks of everyone. Among the crowd, I could clearly see Amy responding to her energy by facepalming while the staff didn't seem too kind about her bursts of joy, except that scientist. The woman wearing a lab coat had an huge grin on her face, as if she saw the best event of her life. I could even see her smoking, inside. an action I tought prohibited indoors in this establishment.

Maybe she wasn't a teacher after all.

Finally, the entrance ceremony started, the principal going on with a speech about the fire of youth and what we'll do of our future, encouraging the student body to look objectively at the time they'll be spending here.

The speech was quite the pain to endure. An unterminable rambling which didn't seem to have an end nor beginning. Observing some students , I could almost discern their soul leaves their bodies as he spoke without ever stopping.

Finally releasing the mic from his grasp at last, we all internally tought that our pain had at last met it's deserved end. Fortunately, we were right, as he moved on to announce the names of who we would be spending the incoming year with.

I was in class 1-D, with the energetic girl, a twist of fate I didn't expect. It also turned out that our main teacher was that same woman who didn't seem like one at all. Looking back at her, trough her expression, you could tell the last thing she wanted to do was teach people, as she was making a clearly visible grimace at us.

The classes were planned to start the next day but we had a scheduled visit of the school grounds to get us ready to take on classes and not get lost tomorrow.

"Hey, guys, what do you say we dip this decrepit place and go have some fun ?"

I couldn't believe those words were coming out of the mouth of who was supposed to be our main teacher. How did she even get a job here ?

All of us except Maya were looking at her with doubt, not sure of what to think.

" My god, that bastard always assign to me the unfunny bunch."

She complained, disapointed, clearly refering to the principal when she said bastard.

"You guys should smile more often, just like her."

She pointed to Maya with her cigarette with a proud look.

"Just look at her, now that's someone with a funny bone.  I can tell."

"My bones aren't very funny and you shouldn't smoke inside !"

That shady teacher responded to her while wearing a snarky grin. Altough, Maya was on some levels of tomfoolery herself if we were fair.

" See what I mean. Also, I do whatever I want,kid."

Putting aside her teasing, she made sign to follow her on the pretense she would show us around but one wouldn't be so sure what to think with such personn.

I suddenly felt a shill down my side, as if a dangerous beast was observing me with attention, attributing me to a prey. Turning back, I could notice Amy looking at my class and specifically Maya, looking visibly angry. As if she was playing dart with her body in her mind.

Afraid for my safety, I ran headfirst with the others outside to get a better grasp of the school layout, not wanting to deal with a lioness.

As much as I tried to have a better outlook about tomorrow, I was already feeling I was in quite a pickle  between the fact I had to deak with Maya energy and Amy's tendencies to get angry.
