Demier’s POV

Demier woke up hearing the waves crashing on the beach. He groggily
sat up on the grass mat and looked to the side to ensure his twin
brothers sleeping. He smiled looking at the two scrawny figures sleeping
comfortably with their leg on top of each other. They seemed content
sleeping in that awkward manner. He could see the resemblence to his
mother who passed away after giving birth to them. He shook the awake as
it was quite uncommon in their village to sleep so late.

Demier lived in a fishing village named Askreth in the southernmost
part of the continent Menroth. The grand continent Menroth is ruled by
the the great king Arahan Pranasti II. He was the son of the hero king
Arahan who unified the whole continent under his single rule. He waged
great wars across the continent and conquerred the sic great clans and
earned their loyalty with his strength and cunning.

After waking up his brothers Desir and Denir, Demier opened the
door to his hut onto the sandy beach. While feeling the soft sunlight on
his face and the light sand enveloping his feet, he heard a sweet voice
calling his name. He looked towards voice calling him and found his
childhood friend Almina calling him while carrying a basket around her
waist. He walked towards her and looked inside the basket to find a
handful of sardines.

“Your father came back already? I thought this trip will take atleast 4 days. “, asked Demier.

“No, the boat hasn’t come back yet. These fishes are from uncle Raben
next door. He gave it to me when he saw me talking with aunty Nabeaa. I
think he just wanted to show off in front of her. He has been asking
her to the tavern for a few weeks and she still hasn’t given him a
favourable answer. He is trying hard for sure. I am not sure if he is
going to success though. “

Seeing Almina was ina gossipy mood, Demier was quite annoyed and
flippantly said, ” Stop gossiping and go home. Your mother must be
waiting for you at home. Your dad and my dad should come back by
evening. Just pray to the sea that they get a good haul this time. Last
time they went the sea didn’t grace them with a good haul. The weather
is going to change next month. Before that we have to finish drying the
fish for the rainy season.

“Shut up you old man. Stop nagging me”, shouted Almina while making a face.

“I am going home. See you in the evening .”, she shouted while running away.
