(Loki's POV)
It
has been 6 years since I awakened my consciousness and memories as August.
Apparently I indeed got reincarnated the world of “The 7 Sages of Virtue”
after I got hit by a truck.
‘What the
heck! Is there any better way to reincarnate someone to another world other
than Truck-kun?’
I grumbled to
myself. I was named Loki by the mother of the orphanage and Mephisto was engraved
to my clothes when I was found with my dead mother in a mansion in the town
sieged by the stampede of monsters. It is what I told by mother Nortia the
mother of the orphanage that adopted me.
I feel very
sad about my sudden reincarnation. I had a loving family on my previous life
after all. If there is a chance to go back to my former world I will do it no
matter how small the chance is.
I have been
calling the Intelligent system assistant That I wish before my reincarnation
but nothing answered. How sad It would be a great cheat if it exist well
there’s no point in complaining so I’ll just have to grit my teeth and do it in
a hard way to live in this world.
We are
going to he awakening and testing center through the mustrich open carriage.
Mustrich is an animal that looks like ostrich with shorter neck and four legs
it has delicious meat and big eggs. The mustrich farm owner was kind enough to
lend us a mustrich and an open carriage
because the center was in the other side of the town and it was too far for the
children to walk. Well I heard that the owner was greatly indebted to mother
Nortia for some reason so he was polite to her.
We need to
arrive there early because of the government papers that needed to be filled up.
We will be given citizenship cards after the test and will be counted as a
citizen of the kingdom of Averiala. The citizenship card will be given to the
guardians and keep it until our independent age of 13-14 years old that was also
the time when we will go out of the orphanage and become independent. However
if a child has a good affinity they can be adopted easily.
“Good
morning kids and mother Nortia.”
Greeted by the 15 years old young man.
““Good
morning brother Jasam.””
Greeted back by the kids.
“Good morning
Jasam. How are you now?”
“Well after I
leave the orphanage a year ago I have been working for Mr. Gharim in the
mustrich farm so everything was good.”
“Very good if
that’s the case.”
Praised by
mother Nortia.
“Well kids, go
and enter the carriage and I will send you guys to the awakening and testing
center.”
We rode in
the open carriage until we arrived at the awakening and testing center. It was
a very huge establishment but it is still full because of the enormous crowd of
people. It was only natural because the awakening and test was only available 3
times a year . They’re not only going to test the children in the town but also
the children from nearby villages.
“Mother Nortia
I will going to wait for you and the kids to the parking lot over there. I wish
you guys a good luck to have good affinities unlike me.”
He smiled kindly but sadly and drive the
carriage to the parking lot.
We lined up to
the very long line of people.
“WELCOME! THE ENTRANCE IS HERE! PLEASE DO NOT PUSH AND
ENTER WITH AN ORDERLY FASION. THANK YOU.”
Said loudly by
the government staff at the entrance of the awakening and testing center at the
loud crowd of people.
“Wow! That
was so loud. Wind art is amazing. Magic arts are truly amazing.”
I whispered
to my self apparently I was heard by mother Nortia. She smiled and said.
“Don’t worry
after this you will be able to learn and use those magic arts yourself.”
‘Yeah I
hope.’ I silently thought.
We entered the
center then mother Nortia filled the
government papers at the lobby. The guardian and the children has separate line
so we got separated at the entrance. We lined up again at the mana awakening
facility. Surprisingly the children who were loud and lively at the orphanage has
been so quiet until now.
“Ugh! I’m so
nervous”
The red haired
kid Bern spoke at my back
“Heh! Aren’t
you the most excited back when we were in the orphanage. You have been shouting
for days that you will become the greatest hunter or adventurer after you learn
magic arts.”
I replied then
he shouted.
“Shut up! Cool kid”
I just chuckled
a little. Although I have a mature mind because
I was reincarnated I can still get along to the kids. Bern is one of my close
friend because his personality is not so annoying unlike the other kids. I entered the room when I was called
and the other children will be called to the other rooms.
When I entered I saw a woman in
early 20’s I think. She has a black eyes brown hair and brown bear ears. She
was in a government medical uniform. Even I already been 6 years here and know
the story I still curious about other races but I ignored my thoughts to not
appeared to be rude.
“Hello! What is
your name?”
She asked.
“Hello ma’am My
name is Loki Mephisto please take care of me.”
I politely
introduced myself.
‘Gosh! Why does my name sounds like God and demon of
trickery combined? It was cool tho’ so I’m not really complaining.’
“Please take
off your shirt so we could start awakening your mana.”
“Okay”
I did what I
was told. She put her palm on my chest where my heart was located.
“It will be a
little hurt so please ‘bear’ with it”
I accidentally
looked at her ears and suppress my laughter. Yep my sense of humor is so low. I
still answered seriously.
“Yes, please
proceed.”
Her palms
glowed and ‘URGH!!!’ I guess she’s not kidding. It’s painful but BEARable. *PFFFT!!*sorry
pun unintended.
OH! SHOOT!
She heard me. She widened her eyes in surprise but she continued her work anyway.
I can fell
something in my heart has opened and something warm flowed in my body. I feel
so hot that my body is sweating continuously.
“Inhale…. Exhale…..”
She said and I followed.
Awakening the
mana is very sensitive and dangerous because the mana is stored in the heart. It
needed a professional to open the mana vein in the heart to spread the mana throughout
the body. The mana is in the atmosphere of this world so when someone awakened the
mana in his body he will be able to inhale the mana in the air. The impurities
in the mana that inhaled will be refined and clean in the lungs and store it in
the heart then spread it in the body. I stayed in the room until my body got
stabilized and get used to the mana. It’s the reason why children below 7 years
old is not advisable to awaken their mana. If someone has a weak heart or lungs
it can cause mana related diseases.
I put back my
shirt on after my body got used in the mana cycle. She gave me a pass card and
said
“Here is the
pass card, give it to the staff at the aptitude testing site.”
I nod and
thanked her
“Thank you
ma’am for awakening my mana.”
She smiled and
replied.
“Your
welcome.”
I exited in the
room and lined up again in the aptitude testing site.
(Dr. Maora's POV)
Dr.
Maora would you like coffee?”
Asked by my female colleague while giving me
a cup of coffee.
“Yes thank
you.”
I gratefully
received and she smiled. I am a bear beastwoman but I was still well received
in this country so I am grateful for it. Not just humans all of the races has
their own pride on their own races and countries while looking down on others. That’s
the people’s nature after all. However in a country like this where any races
or beliefs are openly well received is like a paradise for us who is seeking
freedom from discrimination.
Today is mana
awakening and aptitude test. I was assigned in the town of Xamuel a rural town
in the southeast area of the country of Averiala. I am 23 years old and I’ve
been a doctor for 2 years after I
graduated in the Royal Medical and Alchemy Academy in the capital of Averiala. I
have been doing this awakening and test for children for 2 years from
apprentice to a professional so I have seen a lot of kids from nobles to
commoners.
I have been
doing my work as usual when I awakened
the mana of an unusual kid. He was polite and I can see that he was curious when
he saw my ears but act like he doesn’t care maybe because he doesn’t want to offend
me. What a thoughtful kid. He seems to be more mature than his age in which is
not so rare considering that we are living in a world that has many greedy people
that doing whatever they wanted for their own sake no matter how it affects to
others. A world that is full of vicious and evil monsters where anyone can die
easily and a world that is prone to war where whenever the giants fights the
small people will suffer. While the other children who were victims of the
tragedies of this world are acting like mature to masked their sadness, sorrow and
longing for happiness and peaceful life. In which I found very heart breaking
as to why does children needs to suffer like this when they disserve to be a
child in their childhood.
The child in
front of me is nothing like that he looks like a genuine adult without acting, masking
or hiding anything. A man with experience. It was so amazing and sad at the
same time because I believe that a person needs to experience everything in his
life. Innocence in his childhood, adolescence in his teens and adulthood in his
20’s and above, both failures and success to called it living a life. Life is
short unfortunately the tragedies of this world makes it shorter.
I was surprised
when I opened the mana vein in his heart. While most children changed faces and
some even cried in this process. He laughed like it tickled him. When I was
teaching him how to circulate mana in his body he seems that he doesn’t need my
instruction step by step and doing it naturally. It indicates that he has a very
high affinity with mana. I am curious about his affinity test but I’m so busy
with my work.
“NEXT PLEASE.”
I called the
next kid to awaken.
(Loki's POV)
“Man!
Extracting mana from the body while maintaining the mana cycle needs a lot of
focus.”
I mumbled
weakly
“NEXT”
‘OH! Its my
turn now’
I stopped playing
and go to the site. Unlike the mana awakening its not a private room and has a
large of number of people inside.
(A temporary
3rd P.O.V. because of a mob character that is a waste of space. I
didn’t even bother to name her because it’s a waste of word but if you want you
can call her mob #724 it would work just fine.)
“Pass card
please.”
Said by the
female staff in mid 20’s
“Here”
Loki gave his
pass card to her.
“Loki Mephisto right?”
She asked while
looking at his documents.
‘Hmm? an orphan?’
she thought silently
“Yes”
He answered.
She brought a tray with needles and a small glass container. She grabbed his
hand and stab his index finger. She put his drop of blood in the small glass
container and then she put it in the machine behind her.
There are
many things that is written on the
machine but it was easy to understand how does it work. Beside on the written
word mana there 5 circles that looks something like LED same goes with other
affinities. The circles beside mana affinity glowed 1,2,3,4. Which means he has
4 stars mana affinity. Seeing this she grinned from ear to ear and thought.
‘This kid is a prodigy. If I can adopt him and
report it to the government I can finally rise my status and my salaries. I
could secure my future as the time goes by while he was growing and when he
started to work for the government I would have a chance to become noble
depending on his performance. When I adopt him I would push him to his limit if
needed so I can achieve my dreams.’
Suddenly she clicked
her tongue and shook her head because nothing glowed in the elemental area of
the machine. The only magic that glowed was illusion magic which has 4 glowed
which indicates that he really is classified as a prodigy. However as dumb as
she is, her actual thoughts are.
‘Tch, what a
waste I thought I could catch a big fish but it’s just another trash. Illusion
magic? What a waste to even call it magic really.’
If Loki knew what she was thinking he would
have drink coffee said “Women” and laugh hard (because I did it).
She’s
so stupid that I don’t even know how the F*ck she could graduate in the royal
academy and work in the government as civil servant and soon to be a civil
officer. She’s not even rich to bribe. She must have offered her body from her
professors to the higher ups in the government and nobles. Well at least she
could read and write. She wrote the result on the pass card and gave it to
Loki.
