Chapter 36: The God of Death

[You broke their jaws and ripped out their teeth, plucking each one with the help of your fingers and brute strength. You pulled their tongue out and chopped it again and again, about five times. You gouged their eyeballs and fed Tyrn’s eyeballs to Bjorn and that of Bjorn’s to Tyrn. Finally, you used the same club that Tyrn and Bjorn used to almost kill Iiaka and hit at least a hundred times to their abdomen. The thick skin tore and the organs stuck out. To the organs were penetrated thick thorns from the club.]

[The odour of their stinky blood spread through the air. The Ogre General, who stood with the support of a gigantic tree, watched your maniacal act. Such barbaric treatment was suited to those who followed a traitor. He merely praised you in his mind.]

[You have killed Tyrn, the Ogre, in a brutal way!] [Reward: +1 stat point.]

[You have killed Bjorn, the Ogre, in a brutal way!] [Reward: +1 stat point.]

[The stat points that could boost your strength, went to the reward section. You would use them in your real body. Thinking that, you wiped the blood that stuck to your face and your chest with the help of leaf. Your eyes glowed in faint blue as you looked at the dead bodies. You were the least sympathetic. But more than that, you sensed something else!]

[Thanks to your perception being extremely high, you could sense subtle movements in the battlefield - the army of zombies was rising.]

[It would have been hardly surprising if it was a normal case… but right now, you could sense three powerful entities walking with strange and large gait - it was the Goblin King, the Goblin General and the Dark Wyvern.]

[“…?!”, this took you by surprise. The current attack shouldn’t include those three… why did they suddenly emerge? - you answered your question the next moment when you guessed that Elder Jerka would have been successful in convincing them to join the battlefield and end the situation a day prior!]

[This made your calculation and plans confusing. But at the same time, you felt that you had an advantage this way. ‘If they are attacking earlier, then I’m sure that their allies will not jump in. They wouldn’t even be close to this place… This means, if I can kill the Goblin King, general and the wyvern bastard, we might just win the war!’, a ray of hope that shined brighter than the moon appeared in your mind.]

[You turned towards the Ogre General instantly, only to notice him running towards the camp while staring at you. He left just two words - “Get ready.”]

.
.
.

[All the ogres gathered in front of the King’s camp within a minute. Ogre King arrived and said a thing or two about the battle - about the zombification. Though, he did not mention Jerka. Many believed in Jerka and followed him. By revealing his bad deeds, he might end up bringing down the morale! For now, he kept it within.]

[“Warriors! The battle begins now! Your general and Warrior Chilly will be leading you and I command you to follow their orders!”]

[You were promoted to a higher position. No one questioned this decision as most of them were already aware of your feats. But your new appearance was a shocker and the show stealer, igniting the hidden lust of the female ogres and the appreciation of the males who were also attracted to your shiny muscles.]

[Hearing the command, you nodded your head before walking directly towards the battlefield while giving out a loud roar. “Ijan, Crook, Kus, Mork, Niv and…”, you paused momentarily, turning your gaze towards where Laiya stood and with a deep breath and a raised voice, continued, “Laiya, assemble!”]

[The ogres called instantly walked to the front. You could see their surprised faces. They didn’t expect you to call out their names specifically. Half of them were honoured that you knew them while others had stars in their eyes, extremely happy about it. Laiya on the other hand, simply obeyed your orders. She too had similar questions and excitement. Though, being the only female ogre chosen, she could already sense her friends laughing and teasing her secretly.]

[You faced the battlefield where hundreds and thousands of undead had risen up. You were able to see thanks to the moonlight, but as shadows covered the moon, the bodies would vanish again into the darkness.]

[They numbered: 2943. Surprisingly enough, the number was way less than the previous simulation. You concluded that it was because the final battle was happening earlier. Either way, your task was to demolish all the undead, and for that, you had the perfect set of skills.]

[You looked specifically at these new skills: Shadow Control and Flames of Darkness.]

[Skill name: Shadow Control (A)

-> You can control and animate the shadow of the target.

-> Can be used on multiple targets.

-> The targets must be lower-levelled than the host.]

[This already solved the problem of numbers. You could simply raise the shadows of the undead and make them fight each other. Your magical energy could be the concern but then again, it was somewhat effective. As for the other, it was as an instant kill treat!]

[Skill name: Flames of Darkness (???)

-> The flames of darkness, once unleashed, will reduce the target into ashes until and unless stopped by the caster.

-> The strength of the flames increases by ten times if the target is an undead, a shadow or a being of darkness.]

[You alone could end the battle by destroying the undead. However, you didn’t desire that for now. First, your plan was to let your team level up. Also, you wanted to hide your skills until utmost necessary. You guessed that if you levelled up, then that too could have some impact on the result of the simulation.]

[Other than that, you also had the reward from the quest.]

[Secret Quest: Embrace the darkness!]

[Congratulation, you have completed the secret quest: Embrace the darkness!]

[Rewards: +5 level up; +10 stat points; +1 Dark elixir; +1 Full Recovery; +1 Random Loot Box.]

[Your expression was stoic as you dismissed the rewards once again, saving it for your real body. Now, your entire attention was fixated on the opponents in the front.]

[“Listen up team.”, you raised your voice, grabbing the attention of the members of the newly formed team. With a cold voice, you continued, “Take care of the undead. Do not worry about the goblins and those three bigshots that are joining in. Ignore them entirely.”]

[Everyone except Laiya nodded their heads. Only she, walked a few steps as she questioned, “What about you sir? Are you going to fight the bigshots along with the Lord and the General?” You turned back and stared right at her fearless eyes as you whispered to yourself, “Sir?”.]

[You looked at how beautiful her eyes were before nodding your head while adding, “Indeed. The lord can handle the Goblin King and the general could do the same with the goblin general. The wyvern could be a nuisance. So, I’m assuming the role to intercept it.”]

[“But…”, hearing that, everyone whispered under their breath. They were worried about you as you were going to fight a higher being. To them, it seemed like you were sacrificing yourself. Getting hurt was inevitable! “Sir, can you win against them?”, Laiya asked, respectfully and with a gaze filled with enthusiasm and concern that awaited your answer.]

[You moved your gaze towards her and then looked at others’ faces too. Everyone had an expectant gaze as they gulped large chunks of dry saliva. A small smile erupted on your face as you said, “I don’t think I will…”, as you paused with this, their gazes fell down. They become sad, but that was only for a moment. The energy returned s you continued, “…lose.”]

[Each one of them smiled wider than the other as they readied themselves for the battle. The Ogre King and the general stood in front of the Ogre army. You walked with your heavy body, leaving behind imprints on the ground s you joined the king and the general, standing in the front t the left-most side.]

[Combined, all three of you released a terrifying amount of killing intent simultaneously. A burst of energy wave with you three s the centre, blasted away in all directions. It caused the wind to blow vigorously, causing the rest of the ogres’ hairs to flutter. The killing intent was so intense that the mindless undead couldn’t help but pause. There was even an undead that turned around and started to run with tails between its legs - he seemed smarter than the rest.]

[As for the goblins, a bit affected, they stood strong as leading them were three strong beings. Their faith laid in them - hoping for their own victory.]

[“Attack!” - screamed the goblin king, ordering the undead to move forward despite the bomb of killing intent. He asked the goblins to do the same. They obeyed. With whatever they could find - long pointy sticks, small wooden spears with blunt heads, few bones of minor beasts and some iron weapons - they ran at full speed towards the army of ogres.]

[The Ogre King also gave the command, “Attack!”]

[And with that, the war began…]

[2 seconds into the war…]

Ding!

[You turned 9 goblin undead into paste.]

[You turned 23 goblin undead into paste.]

[5 seconds into the war:]

[You turned 4 ogre undead into minced meat.]

[1 minute into the war:]

[You have decapitated 40 goblin undead.]

[These results didn’t matter to you. Right now, you looked at the bigger prize. As fighting the undead wasn’t going to help you level up, you looked directly at the army of goblins that ran toward you.]

[“Sir, a horde of goblins… there are more than 300.”, Ijan informed you, trying to maintain caution. But you, on the other hand, dismissed his words saying, “Bunch of mobs. Quite the useful materials for leveling up, kek.”]

[You couldn’t wait to gain a higher level than the Dark Wyvern.]

[Seeing your devilish smile, Ijan backed away. You on the other hand, leapt forward and landed right in front of the goblin horde, swinging your gigantic club while activating one of your skills.]

Ding!

[You have used the skill - Rage of the Berserker.]

Ding!

[Attached skill, Rage of the Shadows has been activated.]

.
.
.

[And with that, you couldn’t believe what turn the battlefield took into. You stood with your jaws dropped as you stared at the outcome. Similar reaction was observed from everyone present there. Even Jerka, far away in some hidden places, had a similar reaction.]

Ding!

[You have killed 498 goblins.]

[It was no confusion. The majority saw that the 498 goblins suddenly committed suicide! While the reason was alien to them, it was not unknown to you.]

[While the bodies fell to the ground, their shadows remained immobile. As seconds passed, they started to move and then manifested into materialistic forms, taking the shape of the dead bodies that they had killed. With their eyes completely red in rage, there stood, 498 shadows that had killed their bodies after being influenced by your skill.]

[The battlefield, seemingly stopped, turning its gaze at you and your shadow army. The 498 shadows comprising of goblins, walked towards you. Their legs were barely visible, covered in darkness. Approaching you, all 498 bowed down in front of you, kneeling with both the legs while their heads touching the ground.]

[You couldn’t help but feel this elevated adrenalin. The situation seemingly presented you with a gift!]

[The berserker skill gave you a dark aura that seemingly manifested like a cloak around you. Your skin was red while the white-lines had turned black. Your eyes were engulfed in violet-black flames as you stood like a commander, the warrior of death, the centre of attention of everyone. You stood like a God, looking down on everyone at the moment as you realised the extent of the powers you gained from the attached skill.]

[From the God of War… you had now been named, the God of Death by your foes who had dropped the weapons just like their jaws as they looked at your majestic form.]

[“Death…”, whispered one, while other added, “A god of death…”, added other, giving you one of the most important titles required to reach the S rank simulation!]
