After receiving their guild cards, Elara led Rei and Amy to a quiet corner of the guild, away from the bustling crowd, to explain the ranking system of the Adventures Guild. Elara's voice was filled with warmth and enthusiasm as she began to elucidate the system.

"Rei, Amy, allow me to explain the ranking system within the Adventures Guild," Elara started, her words carrying a sense of purpose. "Our guild recognizes the progress and achievements of adventurers through an alphabet ranking system. It serves as a way to assess your skills, experience, and contributions to the guild."

She directed their attention to a parchment displaying the different ranks from E to S. "At the starting point, you both will be placed at Rank D. It's the second-level rank for new adventurers who have shown potential when joining the guild or existing adventurers who have improved their skills. Consider it a stepping stone, a starting point for your journey within our esteemed guild."

Elara's eyes sparkled with excitement as she continued, "As you gain experience and successfully complete quests, you'll have the opportunity to rise through the ranks. Each rank represents a significant milestone in your growth as adventurers and is a testament to your dedication and proficiency in your chosen path."

She tapped her finger on the parchment, moving from one rank to another. "Rank D is the next step, and it shows that you're progressing and becoming more capable. From there, you'll have the chance to advance to Rank C, B, A, and eventually reach the pinnacle of our ranking system at Rank S. Adventurers at that rank are considered legendary, having achieved extraordinary feats and become role models for others."

Elara's voice brimmed with encouragement as she locked eyes with Rei and Amy. "Rei, Amy, starting at Rank D is an opportunity for you both to further develop your skills, gain more experience, and prove yourselves in various quests. It's a starting point, but it's also a canvas for you to paint your adventures and carve your path within the guild."

She smiled warmly, her eyes full of belief in their potential. "Remember, the ranking system is not just about your personal growth but also about the contributions you make to the guild and the impact you have on the world around you. It's a journey of self-discovery, camaraderie, and constant improvement."

Elara placed a hand on their shoulders, conveying her support. "I have faith in both of you. I've witnessed your talents and witnessed the bond you share. Together, I believe you can achieve great things and rise through the ranks, leaving your mark in the annals of the Adventures Guild."

Amy and Rei exchanged determined glances, feeling a renewed sense of purpose and excitement. They nodded, grateful for Elara's guidance and support.

"We understand the importance of the ranking system and the opportunities it presents. We're eager to prove ourselves and ascend through the ranks, making a positive impact along the way," Rei stated before looking over at Amy.

Amy's eyes shimmered with determination as she spoke. "We won't let you down, Elara. We'll strive to become stronger, take on challenging quests, and rise through the ranks to become renowned adventurers within the guild."

Elara's smile widened, radiating pride and encouragement. "I have no doubt that you both will succeed. The guild is fortunate to have such promising adventurers like you. May your journey be filled with thrilling quests, lifelong friendships, and the fulfillment of your aspirations."

“Thank you, Elara, we both appreciate all information and support you have given us,” Rei said with a smile, noticing a slight blush forming on Elara's face. He also sensed a slightly intimidating stare from Amy, but perhaps it was just his imagination.

“I...it was no problem at all. If you two ever need anything, please don’t be afraid to come ask. I must go now; if you feel like taking a quest, the boards are on the left of the guild,” Elara spoke, before hurrying away with a still reddened face. After she left, Rei realized he was still being stared at by a certain servant of his.

Chiii~

“A...Amy, what’s wrong?” Rei asked, slightly stuttering. They had only known each other for a short time; this couldn't possibly be jealousy, right?

"Nothing at all, Master. I just felt your smile was quite pleasing to look at, yet I haven’t seen that look yet," Amy stated bluntly while slightly pouting her cheeks, her cat ears slightly drooping.

This was quite an adorable sight, and Rei resisted the urge to poke her cheeks. No, that wouldn't be right; he should just cheer her up.

"Amy, that was a business smile. When I smile at you, I want it to be from the heart. You are my most trusted companion, after all, and that’s not just because you are my servant," Rei stated his honest feelings.

“Ma...master, thank you,” Amy thanked him, her tail starting to sway back and forth.

“Barf, Barf!” Yuki barked at Amy and Rei, seemingly saying, "Don’t forget about me."

“Yes, Yuki, you are one of our trusted companions as well,” Amy stated, picking Yuki up and petting her.

“Well then, why don't we go on our first quest? We still need to earn some money to get two rooms for the night.”

"Um, Master Rei, about the two rooms..." Amy began, her voice slightly hesitant.

Curiosity piqued, Rei tilted his head and looked at her with a grin. "Yes, Amy? What's on your mind?"

Amy shifted her gaze downward, her cat-like ears twitching slightly. "Well, I was thinking... since I'm your servant, wouldn't it be more appropriate for us to share a room? It would save us some money, and it's not like we need separate accommodations, right?"

Rei's heart skipped a beat, a warm feeling spreading through him. He couldn't help but find her suggestion incredibly endearing, and he suddenly wanted to tease her slightly. "Ah, you're right, Amy. As your master, it's my duty to provide for you and ensure your comfort."

Her cheeks turned an even deeper shade of pink, and she fidgeted with the hem of her cloak. "I-I didn't mean it like that! I just thought it would be more practical..."

"But because of that, I think it's best if we have our own rooms for now. We can always consider sharing a room in the future, if that's what you truly desire."

Amy's ears drooped slightly, and she nodded, understanding his concern. "I... I understand, Master Rei. Personal space is important, especially when we're just getting to know each other."

Rei reached out and gently placed a hand on Amy's shoulder, a reassuring smile on his face. "Amy, I want you to know that having you by my side is already more than I could ask for. Whether we have separate rooms or share one, it won't change how I feel about you. You're an important companion to me, and I cherish our bond."

A hint of a blush colored Amy's cheeks as she met Rei's gaze. "Thank you, Master Rei. I feel the same way. I'm grateful to be your servant and to have the chance to accompany you on your adventures."

Rei's heart swelled with affection, and he couldn't resist teasing her just a little. "Besides, Amy, I wouldn't want to distract you with my irresistible charm and charisma while we're trying to focus on the quest."

Amy playfully rolled her eyes, a mischievous glimmer in her own. "Oh, of course, Master Rei. Your charm is simply too much for me to handle. Separate rooms it is then."

Her smile grew wider, and she nodded. "I feel the same way, Master Rei. Let's face every challenge together and create unforgettable memories."

With their rooming arrangements settled, they started looking for their first quest as members of the Adventures Guild.

As they perused the quests, Amy's sharp eyes caught sight of a particular mission that seemed suitable for their abilities. "Master Rei, how about this one?" she suggested, pointing at a quest titled "The Goblin Menace."

Rei glanced at the details of the quest and nodded approvingly. "Sounds like a good start, Amy. Defeating goblins shouldn't pose too much of a challenge for us. Plus, the reward seems fair enough for our first quest."

With their quest decided, they approached the guild receptionist, Elara, who had returned to her desk. Her blush from earlier seemed to have subsided, and she greeted them with a warm smile.

"We've chosen our first quest, Elara," Rei informed her, presenting the details of the Goblin Menace quest. "We're ready to take on this challenge and prove ourselves as worthy adventurers."

Elara took a moment to review the quest details before nodding in approval. "Excellent choice, Rei and Amy. The Goblin Menace quest is a good opportunity for you to showcase your skills and earn your first reward."

She handed them a map marked with the location of the goblin encampment. "The goblins have been causing trouble for nearby villages, raiding their crops and terrorizing the inhabitants. Your task is to eliminate the goblin threat and ensure the safety of the villagers."

Amy and Rei listened attentively, their determination shining through their eyes. "We won't let you down, Elara. We'll put an end to the goblin menace and bring peace to the region," Rei vowed.

Amy added, her voice filled with determination, "We'll protect the villagers and make sure they can live without fear. No goblin will escape our grasp."

Elara smiled, her confidence in their abilities evident. "I have no doubt that you'll succeed. Remember to stay vigilant, work together, and trust in your skills. The guild is here to support you every step of the way."

After they finished talking to Elara, they left the guild, with the map given to them by Elara in hand, and began heading to the destination of their first quest.
