/Alice POV//

After waiting for long time our number has arrived the, the evaluation began I entered one of stand a middle aged man was seated their in front of  him was plate of unknown metal it was magic measurement device according to the instructions given before anyone with mana value below 100 units can't become mage so everybody who is at age of evaluation has to first go through mana measurement test, I have already sense mana inside me and even able to sense it in surrounding my infusing my eyes with mana, I was only able to do it because of practicing and willing mana to my eyes I haven't been able to cast any spell as I didn't have knowledge required to do it but basic things like maneuvering mana inside and outside body according to me my control over it is quite good, with disinterested weave of his hand signalling me to sit down after that he handed me plate a number appeared and disappeared after about 30 seconds it stabilized and large number appeared on plate "500" I could see suprise in his eyes, I was also suprised as according to information lecture earlier highest mana units measured was 450. So I surpassed that by almost 50 units, "Oh amazing!" He exclaimed in surprise After calming down he led me to the next room where aptitude would be tested before going he explained something to the man in that room though I couldn't hear them, after

He instructed me to touch the sphere placed in the middle of the room if it turned green and I an enhancement mage if it turned red then I conjurer mage after touching the sphere it unsurprisingly turned green meaning I was an enhancement mage, As the test was over I stood up and was about live he placed a hand on my shoulder to take any attention "Young Lady your quite talented, but without a proper sponsor, your talent won't bloom, how about it I will pull some strings and find you sponsor you will need to reach your full potential." He said with a smile on his face but I could easily see through this man's intention as I have already dealt with this type of people before who are there to take advantage of you, they won't even bat an eye to harm you if it brings them profit somehow.

"I will think about it," I said curtly and turned to leave but was stopped again.

"Wait wait...um how about you meet me aftertaste in front of the arena entrance." He said with a twitching smile,

"Um, I don't think I will do that! Mother said you shouldn't follow strangers in unfamiliar places after that I dashed out without giving him time, I strengthened my hearing by concentrating mana on my ears "That... brat" he growled in humiliation but didn't move, I decided to leave this city and become adventurer but I it seems I have to leave this place at the earliest possible time.

//Lidia(matron) POV//

I was once again leading children to the most important day in their lives their magical evaluation day, it made me both happy and sad and at the same time,

From time to time some children talented in magic appear from orphanages and they rarely contact the orphanage after leaving for the academy after getting sponsorship, so if any child's talent is recognised she is unlikely to meet them again after waiting for 20 minutes all 5 children that took evaluation this year appeared 3 of them were cooking disappointed while other 2 had unreadable expression these children James and Alice both of them were mature for their age while James was someone who wanted to find his father who was an adventurer and has gone missing after one expedition in unexplored ruins, so he wants to be Adventurer to find him, while I don't know Alice's reason she also wanted to be Adventurer, though I will miss them and be worried about them, a lot of children from the orphanage have become adventurers and they still contact me and send help whenever they can.

After that, we went back to the orphanage and night took over every child was asleep so I also went to sleep, when I entered the room  I saw Alice and James sitting there which surprised me when I was about to ask them the reason they were there but before I could ask them Alice spoke in a serious tone.

"Mother, we are going to leave the orphanage today." She said with tears in her eyes.

"What are you talking about!?" I asked outraged by her statement, but before I could express my anger any further James spoke.

"Mother it seems Alice is too talented! That even guys from the evaluation committee will force her to attend academy with some shady sponsor at her back." He explained, I was surprised but then I remembered all those children that were sponsored and couldn't help but notice similarities before they stopped contacting me.

"Hey don't Just blame me your not that far from me at 470 mana units!" Alice said in an exasperated voice,

" But you're still better than me at 500 units," James said nonchalantly, I couldn't help but be amazed at their score it was by far the highest and second-highest score in that evaluation,

"So to not involve ourselves and this orphanage in these schemes that might involve nobles we have decided to leave this town before those people reach the orphanage." Alice explained in detail, I was shocked to say at least, 'Lidia you have to calm down for these children's sake' I thought to myself . " do you have to leave today?" I asked in a calm tone, I was impressed by myself even after hearing such shocking news I was able to calm down in a short time.

"Yes!" Both replied in a serious tone, I was a bit overwhelmed by this.

"Are you sure you know where to go after leaving the city?" I asked in a worried tone.

"It's alright, we will go south and register as adventurers in the town of Marfus."

James explained,

"What about money?"I asked a reasonable question.

"We both have saved 500 silver, by helping people carry stuff around the city."

Alice said with a proud look,

"That's amazing!" I could only say it like that, two children were able to save that much money, it was enough for them to survive comfortably before they settled as Adventurer, though I know they were doing something to earn money but if they had this much money that that means they haven't spend money all that much." you will contact me right?"

I asked the last question, "Yeah, after we settle down, and don't worry we will sneak out at dusk when guards change shifts." James explained,

"Have you taken your clothes?" I asked still worried about them.

"You worry too much mother!" James said with a little blush, while I had a smile on my face due to how embarrassed he was, but when that was happening Alice

jumped to hug me, I was surprised but still caught her, I could hear her sobs,

"I will miss you!" She said between sobs, tears also came out of my eyes,

"It's alright Alice dear we will meet again for sure," I said in a reassuring tone, I could finally see a child in her, Alice has always been mature but right now I understood that no matter how mature she is at the end of the day she is still a child.

"James you better take care of her," I said in a stern voice.

"I will." He replied resolutely.

"What are you talking about Mother, I will be the one taking care of him, I am way more mature than him." She said in a serious tone, though I agreed I couldn't help but chuckle at it.

"Then take care of him will you," I said in a satisfied tone.

"Yes! I will be a great big bear. I mean sister and take care of him." She said, I felt something was missing with this but my attention was drawn towards James''s'''facial expressions after hearing words about being his sister, I was amused at these it is going to be hard for him, was my last thought as I looked at Alice who was entirely unaware of James feelings for her. I bid them farewell and they left at dusk they successfully snuck out and no one other than me knew they had left until morning.
