Kirari POV

“PLEASE!”

A cry of “please” echoes loudly inside the adventurer’s guild.

“PLEASE LET ME BORROW IT FOR A DAY!”

The cry came from the owner of the Weapon and Armor shop of Scale Atelier, Shaina.

After showing Shaina how the smartphone works and what it could do.

From just one look you can see that Shaina was impressed with what this thing could do.

At first, Shaina offered us gold coins so we could sell her the phone.

Of course, we did not sell her our phones.

She persisted and offered a larger amount of money.

We insisted and refused her offer.

This went on for quite some time and the result was this.

Shaina started to beg us to sell our phones to her.

She was crying and was hugging my legs as me and my friends tried to leave.

Because of her constant plea, we decided to let her borrow the phone instead.

I ended up lending her my phone for a week.

I agreed because she offered us “Electric Stones” as compensation.

I agreed to lend her my phone in exchange for these “Electric Stones”.

Why?

In the first place, we can’t use our phones without charging their battery and for that, we need “Electric Stones” to create a thing similar to a power bank.

Lending Shaina my phone for a week is not a bad price to pay for that

Well, I also feel bad for her because she was trying her best to borrow my phone.

From the way I see her at that moment, she acted like a kid having an intense tantrum.

We gave Yurisa the electric stone we received from Shaina to make a portable power plug so we could charge our phones.

1 week later I got my phone back from Shaina.

For some reason, her eyes had thick dark circles under her eyes.

[What? Don't tell me, she hasn't slept for a week just to use my phone. Is she a kid? Well, how can I blame her, no one other than “us” otherworlders that kind of item.]

After my work at the guild’s pub, I went straight back home.

A home.

Me, Yurisa, Nomi, and Iyo bought for ourselves a house in the Imperial Capital.

It was a small home located in the residential area for commoners in the Imperial Capital.

We used the gold given to us by the Empire to buy a nice house, set of furniture, and clothes.

All in all, we used about 300 gold for that.

The first two weeks of work were hard.

At the moment I am still studying how to cook in this world.

Mysteriously, Only the people who have the job “Cook” can cook food or a person with Cooking related skills.

I cook at home but some of the ingredients here are new to me.

Aside from the seasonings, the main ingredients are unknown to me.

For example, horned rabbits. The vegetables look normal to me but I discovered that they are actually “monsters” subjugated by adventurers.

I needed to start from scratch, but I am starting to get a hang of it.

I was lying on the bed of my room as I watched videos about tips for cooking.

Although I could not use the comment section of the video, I was thankful that I could still watch videos on “Mewtube”.

I was hoping to apply it to my work.

-knock- -knock-

I hear a knock.

“It’s open, come in” <Kirari>

The door slowly opened and the face peaked out

The door fully opened and a girl with long black hair showed herself.

“Iyo-chi, What’s up?” <Kirari>

I turned off my phone and got up to sit on my bed.

“Can I come in?” <Iyo>

“Sure” <Kirari>

Iyo slowly entered my room.

Utada Iyo is one of my closest friends.

She had been depressed ever since we were transported into this world.

For some reason, she had been clinging to me most of the time.

“Did something happen?” <Kirari>

“Kirariiiii.” <Iyo>

Iyo ran toward me as tears came out of her eyes.

She jumped into me and I readily catch her in my arms.

She pushed her face on my chest like a hug pillow.

I placed my hands over her head, pet her, and faced her with a smile.

“There, there. What's wrong?” <Kirari>

[hah~ I feel like I adopted a child that is my age.]

-sigh-,

Honestly, if I have a child, I would not mind it if it was her.

She’s such a cute child so... you’re welcome.

She started talking about her work.

I could just imagine what she feels.

Iyo came from a rich family.

This sudden change of lifestyle where she has to work for her to make a living.

This kind of lifestyle must be hard for her.

To be honest I feel that she is more suited to stay in the castle than to work for a living.

But she insisted and joined us, she probably did not like the idea of us leaving her alone in the castle to live like royalty.

After all, out of all of our classmates, we were the last ones who left the castle.

Most of them became adventurers.

Iyo started to say her remorse.

It was something about how strict his mentor was.

She says that even with how much she tries, her mentor wouldn’t acknowledge her work.

“It's ok Iyo, we just have to do our best!” <Kirari>

I tried encouraging Iyo while patting her head.

“Uuuuu~” <Iyo>

She went over and over about it and fell asleep in my arms.

When I noticed this, I could not help but giggle.

“Geez, Iyo-chi. I couldn’t just leave you like this right.” <Kirari>

“Am I disturbing anything?”

A girl with long blonde hair appeared.

She has a mole under her left eye and a fierce but beautiful face.

She also has a nice body.

[Tsk, that makes me jealous. I envy her “foreign” half-blood. Fuuuuuu!!! I’ll just keep this in my mind.]

She also has the habit to end her sentence with the word “Seriously (Majide)” from time to time.

[It seems that she does not realize it…]

“Yuri-chi” <Kirari>

It was Arashi Yurisa.

“Is something up?” <Kirari>

Yurisa gave me a smug look.

I notice that she seems to be hiding something behind her.

“Look at this!” <Yurisa>

“Tada!!” <Yurisa>

Yuri-chi showed the thing she was hiding.

“A gun?” <Kirari>

I said without thinking deeply.

She showed me a thing that looks like a gun.

A very thick-looking gun.

“Haaa??? No! Seriously.” <Yurisa>

“Then… What’s that?” <Kirari>

Yurisa pointed the gun-like object at her face and pulled the trigger.

-vvvvmmmmmmmmm-

A loud sound came out of the gun-like thing.

Her hair moved from the air coming out of the gun-like object.

“OH!!! That’s a hair blower!” <Kirari>

She energetically pointed the blower straight at me.

“Correct!” <Yurisa>

-vmmm- -vmmm-

She pulled the trigger to blow air in my direction.

“Um, What?” <Iyo>

Iyo woke up from the sound of the blower going off.

She looked at Yuri-chi while still half awake.

-crash- -crash- -crash-

“Is everything OK?!”

A loud noise coming from the living room ran toward my room.

A girl with short blonde hair appeared with a broom and a knife in her hands.

It was a short-haired girl with a red highlight on her blonde hair.

Unlike Yurisa, Nomi’s hair was not Natural, her hair was colored.

Too bad the natural brown color of her hair is showing since she hasn’t colored her hair for over a month.

The image that would pop out of my mind when I see her is a “Gal”.

She must have rushed here after hearing the loud noise from the sound caused by Yurisa’s hair blower.

[wait, Nomi? Are you going to use that broom and knife to fight?!]

Nomi was looking around searching for an enemy.

Yurisa just pointed the blower on her face and turned it on.

The air blower had her hair up and she realized that the sound came from the blower in Yurisa’s hands.

“OH! Is that a blower?!” <Nomi>

“It is! Amazing right?! Seriously.” <Yurisa>

“That’s Seriously Amazing!” <Nomi>

“Right!” <Yurisa>

-vmmm-

Yurisa pointed the hair blower at Nomi and pulled the trigger once again.

Our daily life developed this way every day.

The strong and reliable Hino Nomi took the task to protect us from danger.

Although she is as talentless at fighting as we are.

Her “will” covers for her lack of “skill”.

To be honest, if times come when an actual enemy appears, I doubt that Nomi could protect us.

I guess it’s the thought that counts.

The smart beauty, Arashi Yurisa creates things that we need in our daily life.

Through the two weeks.

Yuri-chi managed to create a lot of practical items for us.

The hair blower and the phone charger were just a few of the things she created.

For example, a Hair iron, a Clothes Iron, a Percolator, a Freezer, a Shower, and a lot of other practical items.

Nomi’s reputation within the Scale Atelier skyrocketed.

It was after Nomi re-invented useful items that exist in our world and presented them to the merchants of the Atelier.

It was to the extent that the people who work there call her a “genius”.

I, on the other hand, am taking care of most of the house chores.

I cook, do the dishes, clean the house, and I even do the laundry.

Iyo helps me with other house chores.

Iyo was a former rich girl.

Their house had maids and servants.

This means that she has never done house works in the past.

Since she has never done this kind of thing before, she could only do so much.

I enjoyed doing this since I have nothing else to do.

It reminded me of the times when I have to take care of my little siblings at home, back in our world.

********************

The next day.

“How is it?” <Kirari>

I asked my mentor, Crux-san.

He had been working as the head chef of the guild pub for years.

Funny enough he resembles the old man printed in the KFC logo.

They looked similar, just add some curly mustache and eyeglasses.

I almost laughed the first time I saw him.

Anyway, he is now my mentor and he is teaching me how to cook.

Today, I cooked a dish called “Sweetened Horned Rabbit Grill”.

Mr. Crux ate a bit of the food I prepared.

I was nervous, after all this was the first time I prepared food on my own.

This was a simple test for me.

“Hmnn, I must say, you learn fast and you are diligent. You have improved a lot and I must say that this dish you made is quite good. At this rate, you can graduate from being a “helper” to a “cook” soon.” <Crux>

“Thank you very much!” <Kirari>

I bowed my head at Mr. Crux

Mr. Crux tapped my shoulder and praised my cooking.

“Well, you still have to work on your speed and familiarity with some of the ingredients. If you continue progressing like this, by next week you will become a full pledge cook.” <Crux>

“Yes! I will do my best!” <Kirari>

My other co-worker also congratulated me.

They gave me a round of applause.

I could feel a huge smile forming on my face.

Yes, the 2 weeks of training were hard.

I did not know how to cook most of the ingredients I handle and I have to learn starting from 0.

Thankfully most of the seasoning used is familiar to me.

Also, when it comes to cooking aside from the ingredients the skill (Cooking) determines the taste of the food we cook in this world.

The people in this world who has the job class "Cook", have this skill.

This skill will give me the ability for one person to cook food.

If they don't have this skill, the food they cook will just turn into charcoal.

The higher the level of (Cooking) skills, the tastier the food one can make.

This past week I have been training to increase the level of my (Cooking) skill.

I also learned several cooking-related skills.

I was also able to familiarize myself with the tools and ingredients in cooking.

I practice at home, letting Iyo and the others eat food I made as practice.

And soon I can finally become a full pledge cook.

It was around 3 in the afternoon.

I was still at work.

The time of the day when only a few people are eating in the adventurer’s guild pub.

This was the time they would allow me to practice cooking on my own.

Because I don’t have to help to serve the food.

I tasted the food I just made.

“hmnnn,” <Kirari>

I assessed myself after tasting the food.

“It’s delicious but I think I can do better than this...” <Kirari>

I looked around and saw that I made a mess again.

I decided to clean my working space before continuing my practice.

I noticed that the garbage bin was full so I decided to throw it away where the garbage is piled just behind the guild.

As I took out the garbage, I saw a man lying on the floor.

I ran toward the man on the floor.

“Are you ok?” <Kirari>

I asked.

He was dirty and his clothes were tattered.

He looks like an adventurer

I thought of that because he was carrying a knife on his waist.

I picked him up and help him sit on the floor.

-grumble-

I heard his stomach grumble.

He notices it and looked away with an embarrassed face.

“Wait here.” <Kirari>

I ran back into the guild and took the food I made and ran back to the man.

“Here, eat this.” <Kirari>

I gave the man the food.

It was the same dish I made earlier, a "Sweetened Horned Rabit Grill"

“Uhh… But I don’t have money.” <Man>

“Don’t worry! It’s on me!” <Kirari>

I smiled at the man to encourage him to take the food.

“U-u-u-um… but.” <Man>

"It's Okay." <Kirari>

-grumble-

His stomach made another sound.

This time louder than the one before.

“Fufufu, come on just take it.” <Kirari>

I pushed the food to him so he could not refuse.

“T-t-thank you” <Man>

“No problem!” <Kirari>

I watched him eat the food.

He was eating the food like it was the most delicious thing he has eaten in his life.

He devoured the food as fast as he could.

“Eat it slowly, don’t worry no one will take it from you anyway.” <Kirari>

I said as I watched him eat the food.

He heard me and looked away, then weakly nod.

For some reason, his face was turning red.

[I'm sure that the food I prepared is not spicy though?]

“Is it good?” <Kirari>

I ask for his opinion on the food I made, after all, Mr. Crux said it would be best, If I let others assess the food I make, this is also the reason I make food for Iyo and the others at home.

The man vigorously nodded his head.

I patiently waited till he was done eating the food.

“Thank you very much.” <Man>

He shyly handed me the plate.

There was not a single drop of food on the plate.

It only showed how much he liked my cooking.

“You are welcome.” <Kirari>

The man stared at my face without blinking.

He seems to be mesmerized by something.

[Was the food I made that good? If that is the case then I'm glad!]

“Is something the matter?” <Kirari>

I asked but he did not reply.

“Hello?” <Kirari>

I waved my hand in front of his face.

“Hello!” <Kirari>

“Ah, yes!” <Man>

“Are you, Okay? You seemed to have spaced out?” <Kirari>

I placed my hands over his forehead to check if he had a fever.

I failed to notice it earlier but his face was flushed red.

“N-n-n-no! it’s nothing!” <Man>

For some reason, his face turned red like a tomato.

He shook his head and pushed my hands away quickly.

“Is that so?” <Kirari>

[Hmnn, it seemed that the reason he was lying on the floor was because of hunger. He seems to have regained his strength. I guess he’s alright now?]

“uhmm…” <Man>

“Hmnn?” <Kirari>

I notice that the man had something to say.

I tilted my head as I waited for him to say something.

“You saved me; I haven’t eaten a thing for 3 days. I wanted to look for something to eat but it seems that I lost consciousness before finding one.” <Man>

“Ah, that’s why you’re on the floor.” <Kirari>

“Uhmm. I want to repay you but right now I am lacking in money. But I will repay this favor! So… so…” <Man>

"... So?"<Kirari>

I was astounded by how energetic he was.

Moments ago, he can barely even talk straight.

“So, if you’re OK with it can I know your name?” <Man>

“???” <Kirari>

I ended up tilting my head and hearing this.

[My name? why my name though?]

“AH! Sorry! I just wanted to know the name of my savior.” <Man>

“Huh? Why are you apologizing?” <Kirari>

[what an interesting fellow]

I decided to tell him my name.

“It’s Yamanaka Kirari, you can just call me Kirari.” <Kirari>

“Ah, Miss Kirari. what a wonderful-sounding name...Yamanaka Kirari...” <Man>

“What a weird guy... Just call me Kirari.” <Kirari>

“Miss, Kirari!” <Man>

He made a bright smile on his face.

“I’m Marc Spencer! You can just call me Marc!” <Man/Marc>

I nodded once at the man who calls himself Marc.

“Nice to meet you, Marc” <Kirari>

Kirari Smile

That is how I met Marc.

The person who will change my view about the world that I hate.
