Krisha POV

My name is Krisha Page.

I work as a receptionist for the Adventurer’s guild here in Luron.

It’s a decent job with decent pay.

At times I would work with the citizen who inquires about the guild to make a quest for them.

At times I would work with the adventurers who would take up this quest and confirm the completion of these quests.

Days pass and I became accustomed to this repeated work routine.

I am starting to feel an urge to do something new, something outside of the ordinary

And then one day a new face appeared in the adventurer’s guild.

From my experience, I knew at a glance that this person was not a civilian and was probably an adventurer.

She wears an odd set of clothes.

A unique-looking black coat, a button shirt with a necktie, a red skirt, cute leather shoes, and black leggings.

Although her attire was odd, it looked very elegant.

The adventurer looked like a young girl in her teens with long black hair tied into a ponytail.

She has sharp-looking eyes that seem to cut things she decides to glare at.

She has a unique beauty, a cool and sharp-looking beauty.

As she entered the guild, I immediately notice a large figure following her from behind.

I was surprised to see a large wolf with blue eyes walking behind the female adventurer.

“Eh?” <Receptionist>

I could not help but gasp and my mouth left a gap after seeing the large four-legged monster entering the guild.

I shook my head and try to look at the monster once again.

Although its size was amazing, the appearance of the monster is familiar.

It was a Blue-eyed wolf, an F-ranked monster that is commonly seen all around the continent.

Although it was about three times as large as the typical blue-eyed wolf, there was no doubt that it was one.

I tried to regain my composure and welcomed the adventurer standing right in front of me.

“Good morning, how can I help you?” <Receptionist>

I forced a smile on my face.

Luckily, I’ve been doing this for quite some time now as the receptionist and I managed to pull off a nice smile at the female adventurer.

She returned my smile with a smile of her own.

[Oh, this miss might be a nice person. She may look intimidating but she might be a nice person.]

I thought nonchalantly after seeing the adventurer smile back.

“I want to confirm the completion of these quests please.” <Kazue>

The female adventurer asked nicely.

[As expected, she’s an adventurer]

She handed me quite a lot of completed quest requests.

It was from the villages and towns on the continent.

[Hmnn, she traveled quite far… from the looks of it she must have come from the Capital?]

I skimmed through all of the requests forms most of them are F and E Ranked quests.

[She’s probably an E-ranked adventurer?]

While I confirmed the completion of each request form that the female adventurer handed me using the guild’s reading stone.

I could hear the conversation of the adventurers around.

Just like me, their attention was caught by this adventurer.

“Hey, look at that tamer.” <Adventurer 1>

“Hee~ what an unusual tamed creature. Aren’t those, blue-eyed wolves? Keh! why is that one so big?” <Adventurer 2>

“Wait, is blue-eyed wolf tamable? I’ve never seen a tamer with such familiar.” <Adventurer 1>

Once I heard these chatters from the adventurers, I realized that these monsters were tamed monsters.

[Oh, I see so she’s a tamer, that’s rare…]

Out of curiosity I wanted to know the adventurer’s name and looked at the guild card she handed with the request.

“Let’s see, Let’s see” <Receptionist>

I placed her card on the reading stone.

------------------------

Name: Mizusawa Kazue

Job: Swordsman

Age: 16

Level: 13

Criminal status: None

Quest completed:

SSS: 0 A: 0 D: 0

SS: 0 B: 0 E: 11

S: 0 C: 0 F: 69

Guild Bank Balance: -90,000,000

Adventurer RANK: E

------------------------

[Hmnn, so her name is Mizusawa Kazue? That’s quite an odd name, from how her name sound, she must have come from Fuyutochi. A traveler perhaps?]

[Ah, wait… what’s up with that guild bank balance? Minus, 90,000,000?!... Just how in the world one would have a negative balance of that amount? This girl must have been through a lot.]

I could not help but to pity the female adventurer in front of me.

For some reason, a tear started forming in my eyes.

I confirmed the quest she completed and recorded it into her guild card.

I called out the female adventurer’s name to report her earnings and achievements.

“Miss Kazue you managed to complete 13 E-ranked quests and 22 F-ranked quests. The total reward is 253,000 DAL.” <Receptionist>

A large smile appeared on her face after hearing the amount she gained from all these quests.

[She must have it hard… look at her smiling after hearing the amount she received… This girl is pitiful]

“Thank you, I’ll take 153,000 DAL and leave 100,000DAL in my guild account.” <Kazue>

Her complexion fell after saying these words.

[Although she managed to earn quite an amount of money, knowing that she has that a large amount of debt must be depressing right? Miss Kazue~ Hang in there.]

“Certainly, please wait for a moment” <Receptionist>

I almost teared up

Earning 250,000DAL is quite a feat.

250,000 DAL is equal to a month of my salary.

I took out 153,000 DAL from the counter and handed it to the female adventurer.

“Here’s 153,000 DAL, Thank you for the hard work” <Receptionist>

I looked at her face as I handed her the money, and I saw that her face lightens up from a mere 153,000 DAL

It made her eyes sparkle.

I turned around to hide the tears in my eyes in the guise of reaching for her guild card.

After wiping off some tears in my eyes, I handed the female adventurer her guild card.

I bowed my head to hide my tears and show respect to this female swordsman.

[Wait? Swordsman? Not a Tamer?]

I lifted my head and saw a sword on her waist, confirming that she was a swordsman and not a tamer.

“Uhmm. Miss Kazue?” <Receptionist>

I called out to her to confirm this fact.

“Yes? What is it?” <Kazue>

“I am sorry to pry but I noticed that you are a swordsman.” <Receptionist>

“Ah, yeah what about it?” <Kazue>

The female adventurer said with a face saying “is there a problem?”.

“I was just surprised.” <Receptionist>

“Surprised?” <Kazue>

“Yeah, I was expecting to see a “Tamer” job class.”

I stared at the wolves behind her.

I noticed that there were three of them behind her.

I did not notice it right away but there were two other blue-eyed wolves following her.

Aside from the large wolf in the middle of the pack, the other two looked pretty normal.

[If I remember correctly… blue-eyed wolves are known to be “untamable” right?]

The adventurer seemed to have noticed that I was looking at her familiars and realized what I meant.

“Ah… I see… No, I am a swordsman, it just so happened that these three became attached to me and became my familiars.” <Kazue>

“Oh! That’s amazing! You’re not even a tamer and managed to tame a blue-eyed wolf that is known to be “untamable”. How did you do it?! Did you learn a taming skill?” <Receptionist>

“Honestly I don’t know either.” <Kazue>

She made a problematic expression as she replied to me.

I could not see a hint of a lie in those words.

Around us, I hear the chatters from the adventurers once again.

“Hey, did you hear that?! She’s not a tamer!” <Adventurer 1>

“No way!” <Adventurer 2>

She pulled up the hood of her coat to hide her face.

But she must have not realized that I could see her face.

She was blushing, she seems to be shy and did not want the attention pointed in her direction.

[Cute]

She quickly turned around and left the guild.

*****************

Next morning.

The female adventurer, Mizusawa Kazue entered the guild once again.

She was holding 2 request forms that were posted outside.

She took 2 D-ranked quests.

[She’s an E-ranked adventurer, right? And yet, she's taking up 2 D-ranked quests? I think this is a little bit…]

“Uhmm… Miss Kazue.” <Receptionist>

“What is it?” <Kazue>

“Are you sure you want to take this quest? It’s a D-ranked quest and you’re just E-ranked” <Receptionist>

“Ah, no problem. Don’t worry about it.” <Kazue>

She sounded confident.

Romera Fruit collection and Kobold Fang Collection were the two quests she accepted.

Both quests are D-ranked and both are 1 rank above hers.

Also, these quests are normally taken up by a party of E or D-ranked adventurers.

I confirmed her taking up the quest, but I was still worried since I don’t think she was with a party.

“Miss Kazue, will you be OK?” <Receptionist>

“As I said before, don’t worry about it.” <Kazue>

“hmnn, if you’re that confident then I will not try to bother you with this anymore, but be careful.” <Receptionist>

“I’ll be careful. Thank you…Uhm…” <Kazue>

She looked bothered and I realized why.

“It’s Krisha… My name, It’s Krisha.” <Receptionist>

“Oh! Thank you miss Krisha. I’ll be off now.” <Kazue>

She turned around and waved at me.

“I wonder if that miss would be alright?” <Receptionist>

Later that day

It was around the time the sun was about to go down.

A flood of adventurers who came out during the day is starting to return to the city.

It was either to eat and drink or to confirm the completion of their quest.

Right now, I am busy working with the adventurers who finished their quest and were confirming their completion.

As I was working behind the counter, I saw the female adventurer from earlier entering the guild.

I could sense the feeling of disappointment from the aura she gave off.

Despite that, I was relieved to see her safe and sound.

Judging from the way she looks; she must have failed to finish the request she took this morning.

I was expecting at least that much, after all the quest she took was for a party of E-ranked and D-ranked adventurers.

I saw from her guild card; she was only an E-ranked adventurer.

She probably took those quests because of the enormous amount of debt she had.

She must have been pushing herself hard to pay her debt and had no choice but to take up a quest that was beyond what she could deal with.

I decided to show her a welcoming smile as she approached the receptionist counter.

[I guess I should just give her a compliment for doing hard work]

“Good work today adventurer.” <Receptionist>

I said cheerfully but all she did was respond with a sigh

“My, miss Kazue you let out a large sigh. I’ve heard before that for every sigh you make, an equal amount of luck will escape from you too. So, you should avoid sighing as much as possible. Did something happen during your quest?” <Receptionist>

“Well, you see I failed to finish the Romera fruit collection since I was not able to find them. The guard said that I could find these monsters when I look in rocky areas of the field. In the end, I was not able to find any. Instead, I encountered many Kobolds during my exploration.” <Kazue>

“I see, Kobolds huh… they probably made the whole thing harder for you.” <Receptionist>

“in a way, that is true… I guess?” <Kazue>

[She probably ran around the area avoiding those kobolds. Finding Romera Monster was indeed harder than fighting it and collecting its fruits. There are not too many places for one to find the monster after all.]

Out of nowhere the female adventurer, Mizusawa Kazue places a request form on the receptionist's table.

“I guess for now I have to be contented with this.” <Kazue>

“??” <Receptionist>

[This is…]

Kazue handed me the request for the “Kobold Fang Collection Quest”

[Ah! She probably wanted me to cancel this quest for her.]

“I see so you’ll cancel this quest then?” <Receptionist>

I took the request and was about to cancel the quest in her name.

“?? Huh? Wait? Cancel? NO! NO! NO!” <Kazue>

In a hurry, I hear the female adventurer’s voice stopping me from doing what I was about to do.

“Eh? Aren’t you going to cancel this quest for now?” <Receptionist>

“NO! Why would I do that?” <Kazue>

“Eh? Because this quest is too hard for you right, that’s why I thought that you will just cancel the quest?” <Receptionist>

“NO!!!” <Kazue>

“Huh?” <Receptionist>

The two of us looked at each other, and both of us looked confused.

“I wanted you to confirm the completion of that quest!” <Kazue>

“Completion?” <Receptionist>

“Yes.” <Kazue>

“This, Kobold fang Collection quest?” <Receptionist>

“Yes.” <Kazue>

“Really?” <Receptionist>

“Yeah, why would I lie about that? look here are the fangs that I’ve collected.” <Kazue>

I was shocked by what I saw.

Miss Kazue pulled kobold fangs out of her bag.

The quest only requires acquiring 10 fangs from kobolds.

But from the looks of it, the fangs that miss Kazue pulled out of her bag were more than 4 times the amount required to finish the quest.

“Eh? What’s this?” <Receptionist>

“huh? It’s kobold fangs…” <Kazue>

“So you’re telling me that all of this is… Kobold fangs?” <Receptionist>

“Yeah.” <Kazue>

I was confused and hold onto the bridge of my nose.

Then I tried to organize my thought while talking with the female adventurer opposite me.

“So… you’re telling me that you managed to finish the Kobold fang Collection quest and gathered all of these fangs.” <Receptionist>

“… Hmnn… yeah, that sounds about right?” <Kazue>

“All by yourself?” <Receptionist>

The adventurer paused for a moment as she thought about how to answer my question.

“Technically… yeah...” <Kazue>

[EHHHHH!!!!] <Receptionist>

I could not help but doubt her words but when I placed the request on the guild's reading stone, it indicated that she managed to defeat 5 kobolds and gather their fangs.

While still in doubt, I placed the request form that miss Kazue handed me to confirm that she completed the quest.

If the reading stone confirms that she really finished the quest, it must have been true.

There is no way to tamper with the assessment of the reading stone.

The result was positive, she did manage to finish the quest.

This means that the adventurer Mizusawa Kazue, an E-ranked adventurer managed to complete a quest that is often done by a party of E-rank adventurers.

She did this all by herself.

“You’ve got to be kidding? Did you finish this by yourself?” <Receptionist>

[if this is true then miss Kazue’s ability should be at least equal to a C-ranked adventurer. To be able to solo a D-ranked quest that is meant to be completed by a party, one must be at least C-ranked or above.]

Without delay I got curious, I wanted to ask her how she did it.

It is not every day you could encounter an E-ranked adventurer doing such a feat.

I reached my hands over miss Kazue’s shoulder who was standing opposite the receptionist counter.

I close up my face to hers and talked with a newfound interest at the person standing in front of me.

“Miss Kazue! how did you manage to complete the quest? I know that you’re an E-ranked adventurer but to be able to finish the Kobold fang Collection quest alone is nothing but impressive! I’m curious!” <Receptionist>

I send the female adventurer a curious gaze, wondering how she managed to do what she just did.

“Well, I may have said that I finished them alone but to be exact, I was with my familiar and it is because of them that I was able to finish it by myself.” <Kazue>

“OH! So that’s it!” <Receptionist>

I almost forgot that Miss Kazue had familiar.

There must be something special about the Blue-eyed wolves following her around, after all, one of them is abnormally larger than your typical Blue-eyed wolf.

For some reason, I found this female adventurer intriguing and I could not help to be curious to know her better.

If this was not a fluke, then this girl should be something else.

“Oh, bide away miss Kazue, what will you do with those extra kobold fangs?”

“Honestly I’m not too sure myself.” <Kazue>

“Oh, if that is the case we can buy it from you, although you won't receive as much as finishing a quest, you can still gain money from selling those kobold fangs.” <Receptionist>

“Uhm… so it's possible for me to sell these extra kobold fangs as well, how much will you buy it?” <Kazue>

“Let’s, see since it’s in demand right now we can buy it for 5,000 DAL a piece.” <Receptionist>

She went silent for a while, she seemed to have calculated how much she would receive from selling the extra kobold fangs.

“130,000 DAL huh… I guess it’s alright… Okay, sold” <Kazue>

“Thank you very much, adventurer.” <Receptionist>

Next day.

She came to the guild once again.

She took several E-ranked subjugation quests.

A D-ranked quest, Forest tiger skin collection.

Just like yesterday, she returned finishing all 3 E-ranked quests.

She began to complain about how hard it was to find the Romera monster and how problematic it was to dismantle a monster’s skin.

[So, she still did not manage to find a Romera monster huh?]

Next day.

I’ve heard that miss Kazue brought the dead body of the forest tiger on one of her wolves back into the city to find someone to dismantle the skin for her.

I am also hearing rumors about the adventurer who commands wolves and skillfully and efficiently hunts down the monster around the area.

[As I thought this girl is something else. At first, I just saw her as a pitiful female adventurer with a huge amount of debt. But now I could see her in a new light.]
