This story is very good, in my opinion. Just the right mix of character dynamic and original worldbuilding, plus familiar tropes and plotlines. Where this really shines is the pacing, making sure to never leave on too heavy a cliffhanger or lead on too cold an open, which is a difficult balance to strike. Spoiler for my favorite part of the story so far:
Imagine finding out that the local meth chef also knows how to contact god.
