In the not-so-glamorous outskirts of New Savannah, Seraphine Bloodfallen - part-time joytoy and full-time cynic - finds herself drafted into madness. When a particularly bad day at work ends in an alien invasion, Seraphine becomes a Samurai; Someone empowered by a benevolent alien race with the strength to oppose the alien invaders.
Follow Seraphine as she navigates her new life with more power and problems than she ever wanted. As it turns out, battling alien invaders with a ragtag band of misfit Samurai might just be the craziest job she’s ever had - and possibly the most fun. Who knew the apocalypse could be such a blast?

Ok. So I'm 9 chapters in, about to start the 10th.
Yet another take on the SCS universe created by RavensDagger. More adult themed than some of the others, featuring heavy mention of drug and alcohol (ab) use, no-filter talk about s*x, though the acts are mostly hinted at having been done, not actively described.
Seraphine is brutally honest about what she is, why she is what she is and that she actually enjoys what she is. Most of the time, anyway. There's a bit of the my life is so screwed up, anything that even gives me a bit of joy or escape is welcome.
And then she goes and becomes a Vanguard. A Samurai. This looks to be a journey about a woman at the lowest rung of the social ladder and just about an outcast from her own social bracket, to someone trying to cope with going to the top of the social brackets. If she can survive that long.
A common theme I've seen in some of the SCS fanfiction, including SCS itself, is people using their Samurai status to improve their lives and neighbourhoods. I'm looking forward to seeing how Seraphine is going to change hers.
