Synopsis

21-year-old Nick Woods was isekaid into a world where women rule the grid, and everything else. Dragged through a childhood of race paddocks and press rooms as his sister chased F1 glory, Nick found his own escape in streaming iRacing, blissfully average and mostly ignored. Now dating Blair West, his childhood friend turned rising F1 star, Nick watches from the sidelines as fame begins to change her, and their relationship. But when Ivy Hunt, a three-time world champion with violet eyes and an obsession with winning, sets her sights on him, everything shifts. To her, Nick is more than just a distraction, he’s a strange new source of luck. And as her victories start stacking up, so do her reasons for keeping him close. Closer than anyone ever has.

Binged this and created an account just to comment/ review. The start is very strong and you really made us feel for how badly Blair fumbled Nick. It was amazing to see how pure, supportive, self-sacrificing and goodhearted Nick was during the years they were together. The little sweetness of their little routine and flashbacks before Blair turned delusional.

I wish you would've explored more about how Blair misses Nick with a POV chapter of her during earlier and later parts of the story. We've seen how disheveled she was at Suzuka and how much Nick probably aided her from the shadows which she took for granted until it was too late. We could've had scenes where she wakes up alone, spends evenings alone with stiff muscles with no one to massage those away. How she tries to fill the void and get herself a fancy eye candy boyfriend who just doesn't compare where it counts (even more so in this reverse world, ex. Not being as enthusiastic, not putting out, not giving it 100%). The Twitch chat messages are little glimpses in how regretful Blair is but I feel like we could've gotten even more satisfying scenes. Nick and Ivy's relationship is good but it's very physical, I was wondering when the smaller sweetness would come up, like for example Blair and Nick massage or Blair and Nick whispering about their future together etc. All those things Nick recalled from flashbacks which were very sweet and really showed how Nick supported her aside from all the "wrestling in bed". Nick is also very submissive which is fine don't get me wrong but I was wondering if he ever switched it up and showed her some tricks from his previous world (giving her oral for example).

Maybe in a future story we could have more of the jealous ex-girlfriend scrambling to rebuild her life after a fumble while the MCs continue improving.

The setting is very interesting, Ivy is super competent but I still feel like Nick could show more of his motorsport knowledge with her (?), it was interesting when Blair compared him to other pilot's boyfriends with him knowing the difference between understeer and oversteer for example. Nothing wrong with being pampered but Nick could shine more given the other males in that field

All in all fun story, I think it has run it's course, unless you find some interesting stuff left to write about.

This is actually so peak. This isn't your typical novel that leaves you feeling like you just wasted your time, there's actually emotional substance here. The characters and the worldbuilding is really good, and I'm happy theres some 30 chapters left that I get to read. Heres hoping there'll be more chapters in the future!

I'm here because author need more review in his original platform.

    Author here's one for you!

Author did a good job portraying a yandere and the fact that it feels like it was connected to the mob boss one... maybe in same universe.

Anyways the story feel wholesome especially how MC and FL interact into each other like the fact that they couldn't live without each other.

I love how the FL confront that f**ker of a MC's mother it's just that MC is a being somewhat of a wimp when confronting his mother though I couldn't really blame him because of trauma.

Author need to write a more straightforward and not limp d*ck MC but over all it was satisfying to read.

    Good job author!

Ps. Author I think there's something wrong with the star review sorry I don't know how this platform's star rating work?

Absolutely insane premise, but it works, and it's compelling af.

    THE WRITING:

Impeccable. The grammar is on point, and the writing is always fun to read. There's a lot of character in how the author writes, with lots culture references and personal insights.

    THE CHARACTERS:

Nick is used to putting himself last, growing up in a family where his sister came first and he had to just tag along wherever she went. He starts out in an unhealthy relationship with a girl who takes him for granted. It's really cathartic to watch him grow and find love that doesn't make him small.

That's where Ivy comes into play. She's bold, aggressive, and absolutely cutthroat. But she is dedicated, and she can recognise value when she sees it. She won't hesitate to be brutal, even sadistic, against her enemies. But she never turns that on the one she loves.

    THE WORLDBUILDING/PLOT:

I know next to nothing about F1, or even racing in general. I was still invested in the story and I always understood the stakes at play. The world is easy to slip into and fully immersive.

The plot is almost slice-of-life at times, and other times it's full of tension and adrenaline. I felt it always had a good balance. It's more romantic than the author's other stories, with lots of cute sappy scenes as well.

    WHO SHOULD READ THIS STORY:

I enjoyed all of Astrolust's stories, but I don't always love stories with lots of tragedy or graphic violence. This is my favourite of theirs, and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys reverse world stories, yandere romance, and submissive male MCs.

(I actually read this a while ago but I came back to reread because I enjoy it so much)

I don't know about any other works of this author, but I have read this one to its latest available chapter in here. This novel is about a dude who is sensitive and who does not try to pretend to be manly. I think this is the main distinctive point of the protagonist of the novel. I have been reading quite a bit of those and except for characters who are girls or characters who are shotas, few authors dare to give their main character a truly sensitive trait.

Is the main character whimpy? Definitely. Is he weak? Sure. In fact, he is a downright simp for powerful women who he devotes a lot of his life to, but it is not actually awful to read. It definitely does not feel right as a man to read this, but in that inconsistency and unpleasantness lies some kind of unique charm.

And that is what I like about this novel. It definitely has charm. I definitely binged it and I was very sad when I caught up to the latest chapter. There were a couple moments I thought there was no more "tension, " more precisely a motivation to continue reading this, but surprisingly, it still has gas to burn and it will not sputter out for a while yet.

I like the female characters even though they are downright psychopathic. I like how characters have their own strengths. I like how the sh*tty first girlfriend is not getting completely nerfed for no reason. I like how she still has her strengths and doesn't just become a mopping rag for the author to dump every single grievance onto, completely destroying her character. It makes it feel more real and whether you like it or not and whether you can accept it or not, sh*tty people are still people and they still deserve to live.

Just because some guy slept with your girlfriend, if you throw a white glove onto his face and request a duel, it doesn't mean you will automatically acquire universal powers of justice and win. There is a high chance you are just a worse shot and get shot to death by some guy who stole your girl. The person may be sh*tty and the situation may be sh*tty, but that doesn't mean that someone's sh*ttiness and you having justification makes you stronger or better than that person.

In the end, this novel is quite a breath of fresh air for me. The sticky, possessive romance is very satisfying, the dopamine is through the roof, races are the highlights and I like how the novel is merciful in the way romance should be. Romance here is not "romance" where obsession is actually much bigger than the romance. Romance here is a mix of obsession and romance, where they find a certain balance.

Oh, and last thought, author if you are reading this, I have been wondering for dozens of chapters, but why is the main character so obsessed with being dependent on somebody. As a result, he is frequently in an unhealthy state of mind and has a lot of mentally fragile moments, indecisiveness and weak, pathetic thoughts. Over time, he does grow a spine, but I can't help but think that he still has to come to and learn to live his life too. Enjoy doing things that are his own joys. Not someone else's joy. Enjoy hobbies without them being someone else's ideas. Wake up and have his own ambitions and goals. Not like I am suggesting to change anything. I am just pouring out my frustrations at how unhealthy the mindset of the guy actually is.
