The Egg Prime Directive
Alternate 'Light Novel' style titles:
"Transformed into a girl by a conference trickster, I must learn the ways of her pervert tribe!"
or
"'I was (lovingly) forcefemmed at a con, and now all the girls are jealous of how pretty I am!'"
Kitty is convinced that every bearded nerd with long hair and a kilt shopping at her foam weapons booth is actually a closeted trans girl. Her friend and business partner, Megan, is...unconvinced. Poor Kyle is just looking for a nice replica weapon, not a whole new gender! Sometimes a sword is just a sword, but when the sword is the fabled Stormbringer of Kitty and Kyle's favorite magical girl anime it becomes an opportunity for the impulsive prop maker to prove her theory, and change both of their lives forever.
Woven into the story in parallel is a treatment for the first season of Maiden's Last Stand: a fictional trans-affirming magical girl anime! Seiko Miyagawa was an ordinary boy living in Nagoya, until transformed into the chosen Battle Maiden of the goddess Inari Ōkami on a visit to her shrine. In the process she has been gifted the opportunity to live her life as the girl she's always been inside. But fate has other plans for her: a malevolent Yōkai has been gathering strength for an attack on the mortal world, and Seiko, her Kitsune companion, and the magical sword Stormbringer are all that stands between the Shinigami Wyrm's minions and the end of life as we know it!
The Egg Prime Directive is a cozy, low-stakes, sapphic romance, interwoven with a high-stakes, magical girl action story. Its two halves are unified by single overarching theme of queer joy. It's also a story about navigating trauma, neurodivergence, and ethical non-monogamy. But mostly it's about found family, queer community, and the ways that trans folks look out for each other!
CW: This book deals frankly with some of the mental health issues that arise from living in the closet as a neurodivergent transgender person, and includes depictions of autistic meltdowns, trauma , denial, and some references to conversion therapy. It also has explicit adult content, including depictions of polyamory, light BDSM, and some very graphic sexual sequences, all between consenting adults. Reader discretion is advised.
