Mira Quinveil Firebrand was born with fire in her blood and a destiny she never asked for. Half-Fae, half-human, she has spent her life caught between worlds, never fully belonging to either.
At Ravenrest Heights, she is expected to play the part of a perfect girl in a city built on secrets. But Dominveil is no ordinary city. Beneath its glittering surface, shadows move through the streets, ancient powers stir behind the Veil, and students are beginning to vanish.
As Mira’s own magic starts to flare in ways no fire-born Fae should be capable of, control becomes harder to hold and far more dangerous to lose. Because whatever is waking inside her is more than unstable. It is something old, powerful, and deeply tied to the future of Dominveil itself.
And then there is Cassie Fairborn: her beautiful, infuriating rival, the girl who always seems to know exactly how to get under Mira’s skin. Mira is certain she hates her. So why does every fight between them feel like the beginning of something neither of them can stop?
In a city of hidden courts, dangerous magic, and simmering rivalries, The Firefly’s Burden begins the Starveil Saga, where love, power, and prophecy are destined to collide.
So far it's been pretty good.
The MC's brother is just a unpleasant character, the story would be better off with out him. It's not a major problem early on as he is rarey seen. But about c40 the MC and her brother get over their issues and he's suddenly mentioned every 3rd paragraph
The MC get turned mortal at one point, which just feels like a cop out for getting written into a corner. Hopefully that situation is quickly resolved rather than dragging it on for ages allowing the MC get to get stuck playing damsel in distress. Unfortunately I'm getting the vibe the second option is gonna happen.
Gonna keep reading and I'll try to update the review with if my fears come to pass
