This is shaping up as a great series with an interesting main character. The prologue is the weakest part of the story as it has to establish the main character's unsavory personality in a relatively short word count. As such, it can come across a bit ham-fisted.
To that point I'd recommend reading the first few chapters proper even if the prologue doesn't grab you, otherwise you would be doing yourself a disservice.
