I really want to give this story less than 5 stars, jsut because of how frustrating the characters are. But then again, this is exactly what would happen if some medieval civilisation with access to magic were to suddenly encounter a portal to hell. Or at least some place different. Endless amounts of distrust, wild speculations, and attempts to disprove anything and everything that does not fit into the bigger picture. 5 stars for realism.
If you get past the first few chapters, the characters get severely less annoying and the story becomes more manageable. Be prepared to face some not entirely insignificant unanswered questions, be it here or in the sequel.
Also, apparently the author published more stories from this universe than there are on SH on Reddit in r/HFY under the same username, for anyone interested. Https://www. Reddit. Com/r/HFY/wiki/authors/ljegulja/
