Christafano Kircher is a lowborn laborer in service of the local lord. He is working at a tournament the lord has hosted to let knights test their mettle and earn honor, when he sees a tall imposing knight in mysterious dark armor killed in a duel to the death. Later that night in the nearby forest he stumbles upon the man's corpse. Only to find that the knight is alive, and a beautiful young woman no less.
