As I was warned by others on the internet, the beginning of the novel is great. Goes into farming and political/court espionage. Honestly, the up to 200s was a great read.
But after that things start to get hazy and outlandish. I especially don't like how the author can peg down and consistent measurement of units, so the translator has to keep guessing. The numbers sound astronomical as well, which does help me relate to the characters or their environment, let alone imagine what "8k miles" is like. Overall an mid-tier read.
