Leiko, a down on his luck member of the Surveyor's Guild, has an opportunity. A competition has arisen to rise through the ranks of the guild. To go from a lowly basement dweller to sitting amongst the plush surroundings of the upper floors.
All he has to do is earn 1000 gold. How hard can that be? After all, it's not like he can stay dead.
I think the Author really captured of a man struggling living a downtrodden life. Where you are pushed over by almost anything bigger than you yet seeing brighter sides of life not giving up.
The interaction of most characters are brief but realistic, giving them a sense of individuality like the monster girls, guild members, the council, and the others.
The Main character felt too relatable maybe because emotions aren't described too much, more felt in between the lines.
In the ending, the Author captured the melacholic farewell (maybe it was the music I was listening too which fit it, idk) which I really felt a an emptiness for a while. For such a short read that was really a great read, worth the time.
If there was plans for a sequel, I would happily give it read.
