Rather than the heaven she asked for, Millie is sent to someone else’s. There, she finds she’s now a half-Japanese schoolgirl, living alone with her younger step-sister, Himawari, juggling school and a part-time job to keep them going after their parents left them. Her neighbour, Sakura, is her best friend, and there’s a transfer student from America, Natalie, who she’s close to, bonding over a love of old British comedies. Then there’s her homeroom teacher, Toyama-sensei, who knew her birth mother.

Calm, peaceful, yet Millie is intensely unnerved that someone else asked for this heaven, her only solace that it’s her here and she’ll do her best to protect it.
