In the aftermath of the apocalyptic Black Ages, humanity has been forced to recover what little it could of the grandeur of the past. The ruins of dead civilizations dot the countryside, and the glorious victories of the past have turned to ash. The Gods turn to squabbling, and men - both mortal and immortal - forge new empires in the ruins of the old.

Titus is a young Custos Guardian - one man in a long chain of warriors sworn to hunt and destroy the demons of the night. It was the Custos, under the guidance of their flaming Gods, who bled and died to bring an end to the Black Ages. Returning from his rites of passage in the wilderness, he found his home looted and burned by an unknown enemy. Now, he is forced to set out alone to warn the scattered Custos Clans of this threat before it is too late. Along the way, he will meet Royal allies and terrible foes that will test him in ways that he never could have imagined.
