Three days after the debutante ball, the Duke of Treva's daughter, the discreet Georgeana Fern, turned up in Scarlet and said something shocking:
"I have information to sell about the prince and, in addition, I want to request an investigation. I want to be investigated."

After being invited to the capital to be the prince's fiancée, Georgeana Fern, who at twenty-two did not intend to marry, arrived with a disturbing object among her trunks: a diary.
It detailed her entire life up to the moment she lost her mind. The terrible thing was to see that nothing seemed to be going well for her and her family.
Ruin seemed to be just around the corner and she was not willing to wait for it in peace, much less when it seemed that each step she took to avoid it was dragging her more and more into the intrigues of the court, the fight for the throne and the arms of a mysterious man.
"Tell me, if I help you, what will I get in return?"
