An absolute gem!
I mean it, I rarely see stories this good! So satisfying!
The writing style was a bit basic, but informative. There was a lot to patch up, after all. Short Story transmigrations/reincarnation troupes do feel lacklustre and rushed since there's a lot to cover up on the author's end. But it was so enjoyable and light-hearted, which was refreshing! Definitely delivered on the 'mystery', 'detective' and 'suspense'. The parts I got lost on... more specifically, felt off, were
(1) the relationships between the characters (MC, with like every other character, except Kevin), and (2) J.C's abrupt decision regarding MC at the end (not just the carriage scene, but also shortly after MC woke up). As a reader, I was being told to accept those decisions without genuine reason. J.C's dialogues felt more like a convenient excuse, tbh.
Speaking of dialogues! I really enjoyed most of the conversations between the characters throughout the story. The characters showed their motives, emotions etc. without being told to the reader. The character descriptions were oozing out, though some weren't as justified. Still, the way these were planned and written shows the author's efforts in taking the time to write them in a digestible way, which is a very talented skill. I'm genuinely a bit envious of this ability... just a little bit.
The pacing was what I loved the most! Chef's kiss~
Oh, and the amateur detective's character was nicely done. Great rival.
Though I believe he's more the butler's rival, than the Mc's.
There was no problem with the grammar, or punctuation. Just one or two typos here and there.
Anyways author, @LazyCultivator, thank you for writing such an amazing gem of a story! I wish you best of luck on your future endeavours.
P.S - If anybody is hesitating on reading this delightful oneshot, then I absolutely recommended you read it.
