The event that began the modern age, the zero year event of the modern calendar, and directly or indirectly responsible for nearly everything good or bad about the current state of the world.
The Old Gods had gradually retreated from the world over the preceeding centuries, taking an increasingly hands-off approach to their rule over the world, and, in the eyes of many, had thus begun to neglect their duties to the world. Several minor gods, going against the orders of their superiors, began intervening in the world more directly, first in secret, and then in the open, leaving much of the world in ruins.
The struggle between the interventionist and lassie-faire gods, and their followers, slowly escalated over many years, culminating in open war. The eventual outcome was the Old Gods being klled and eaten (hence the name, Theophagia) and supplanted by the New Gods, who decided to take a more active role in the day-to-day workings of the world.
Weather the New Gods are actually better than their predecessor is up for debate. Even the New Gods themselves seem, at times, uncertain about their actions.
