The Herali Eupin grows in the same mountainous forests as the diamond trees, and is known throughout the Empire for producing the finest longbows available. Serious competitors only use this type of bow, as it maintains stability and accuracy beyond 300+ yards, and Herali children often learn to shoot from a young age.

The bows, traditionally, are decorated with burnt etchings from stories related to the local animist religion, such as Falcon's Epic. This has caused controversy within the Daenma church as a sign of heresy, and as a consequence bows outside Heralia are often defaced or destroyed. Collectors willing to risk the Inquisition of the church will often pay a premium for an original bow in good condition.

Kyoen

Kyoen is a city on the coast of the Duchy of Heralia.

One of two major cities in Heralia, Kyoen is home to 1.2 million people of varying ethnicities.

Principal languages spoken are Herali and Goloagi, with Goloagi being dominant around the port areas and enclaves, and Herali being dominant everywhere else.

Roughly 1/3 of residents adhere to some form of the Deanma religion, while the remaining 2/3 follow traditional Herali animist religions.

Originally the site of the Orca clan, the city boasts a 1000+ year history, though 90% of the current population comes from the past century. During the Great Plague, Kyoen was hit hard. Entire neighborhoods were wiped out, repopulated, then wiped out during subsequent waves of disease. City officials finally sectioned off quarantine zones and forbade people from passing between them.

Major industries in Kyoen consists of shipbuilding, shipping, seafood processing, import & export, and textile manufacturing. Kyoen is also home to one of the most prestigious universities in the Empire and has a robust public education program.

Home to a warm, deep water port and generous natural harbor, Kyoen serves as an entry point for goods flowing into Heralia, the wealthiest duchy in the Empire by GDP per capita.
