Hello my dear daddies and daughters, I thought that you might be worried about my lack of posting on the last few days, so I decided to shed some light on the matter.
First of all, no, I am not on Hiatus.
The thing is, I usually use a simple spell check for my work, but an author colleague of mine kept pestering me on trying Grammarly. So I did, mostly to make him shut up and...
DEAR MOTHER OF ALL DAUGHTERS, HOW THE F*CK HAVE YOU PERSISTED IN READING WITH ALL THOSE ERRORS???????
Having seen the ungodly mess that is my text, and lacking a capable editor, I decided to give it a go and correct everything... what I didn't expect is that the number of corrections reaches more than 16.000 just for the free version!
So I am plugging along correcting the whole book, which takes more time than I thought it would at first. I will hopefully be done by tomorrow or the next day, but I will try to post at least a shortie tomorrow just to give you your fix. Since you lovelies keep supporting me, at the end of the month I will turn to Grammarly premium, so you will probably see a huge improvement in the flow of the story.
That's all,
Stay tuned, and keep your daughters close...
Cheers,
PinkCulture
DEAR MOTHER OF ALL DAUGHTERS, HOW THE F*CK HAVE YOU PERSISTED IN READING WITH ALL THOSE ERRORS???????
Lemme tell you how I do it. I have an auto grammarly installed in my head. Any errors that I see, whether it be missing words, incorrect spelling, it goes over my head and I don't notice it....mostly.
Haha, I feel you. I had to drop a few books before my eyes started bleeding, so up to some point, I autocorrect in my mind.
Just keep in mind that perfect grammar does not always make the best reading... Things like sentence fragments, for example, are not always bad. I am always a little worried with fully automated corrections.
On the other hand spelling, tenses/accords, etc all need to be right.
Depending on what platform you use grammarly on you have to be careful. On docs I have experienced a lot of strange bugs including looping changes, replacement not actually replacing anything, and a weird tendency to capitalize weird things. Great tool though and a very fast way to do a cursory review.
Indeed, I found some of those issues as well, mostly Grammarly wanting to remove every instance of the word 'really' when used in a context like 'I really want to kiss her'. It is mildly annoying, but as long as you don't blindly accept the corrections, it's fine. I am thinking of going premium for a month to see what benefit the extra features offer to my writing before splurging for a yearly subscription.
@PinkCulture Yep. I think it sees really as a unnecessary addition and tries to get you to remove it for simplification. I would be interested in how useful you find grammarly premium since I'm considering a subscription too. Every other review I've seen are from people that don't have work I am familiar with. Good luck and good night.
well maybe because i´m not a english speaker i don´t see the problem but i read some novel in english than are japanese some times and i just stop the lecture because is hard to understand annything but i don´t have that problem with your novel so it´s ok for me
I mean sure, there are some grammar errors, but it's free, and have you read some of the other novels on the internet? It's like they machine translated the text 5 times over, and it makes no sense.
