The Village of Traplings is in dire need of a Protector!
Except that Jason doesn't really want to play the role — or by the rules. But after a whimsical Goddess whisked him away from his original planet — along with his transgender hook-up — he'll find himself lobbed into a dangerous world with a rusty sword as his only weapon, and be expected to make the best of it. And while the prospect of it sounds grim, Jason is nothing but determined to survive, fulfill his destiny and climb the very peak of godhood... all the while trying not to become gay in the process.
Sounds easy enough, right?
... right?
// Notice: No, the main character is not — and won't turn into — a trap. //
// Notice #2: This is a side project, therefore updates won't be regular. But I'll make up for it with lengthy chapters. //
I was expecting a gag story based around the hook in the title, and while it is that it wasn't shallow at all.
Instead I found a story with better world building and more complex characters than the vast majority of LitRPGs out there. The character dialog comes off as sincere, realistically messy/awkward at times, and doesn't try to patronize the reader. Thankfully so far the 'system' is a basic toolset that the characters interact with as needed and hasn't become an all-encompassing deus ex machina around which all events hinge.
Characters get pretty roughed up, enough to keep up the tension and drama during fights or interactions with enemies. Meeting strangers in a dangerous land is an event treated with wariness, as it isn't instantly obvious who is a mustache twirling villain or a knight in shining armor. Finally the humor is self aware and if you're the type to try and read this story despite the title it'll likely entertain you as well.
Will be interested to see how it unfolds as time for more updates goes by.
