“So, what do you think? Based on what I’ve told you so far, how would you describe my life?” Wolfgang asked Marcel. He was done telling Marcel about his life, so he felt like finding out if Marcel had found his answer.

“Um, I’d say that your life was tragic in the beginning, but got better after you were reborn. You managed to save more people from dying and got yourself a husband, so if I’d say it was quite a good one.” Marcel answered.

“And who do you think made it all possible? If it wasn’t for someone you know, I'd probably have never gotten my chance to reincarnate. He’s done a lot of things for more than just me, so I wouldn’t call him an evil person. I’d really like it if you and he got along very well. It's always just him alone here.” Wolfgang smiled at Marcel.

“Um, I’m not sure if I’ll get along with him though. I’ve always been told that he’s the demon lord, the ruler of all things evil and my duty was to slay him, so I don’t know. I’ve also got no evidence that he isn’t evil yet, so I can’t just decide.” Marcel said.

“Then I’ll show you a million’s worth of evidence. Anything and everything you see here must be kept between the two of us. I’m showing you people’s secrets.” Wolfgang said. Marcel nodded and then Wolfgang did something similar to what Claude did with Dragon Link. The memories from countless Informers flooded into his head and after it was done, he understood everything much clearer.

“Now can you say the same thing you said about a minute ago?” Wolfgang asked. Marcel shook his head without even realizing it. When he realized it, he seemed embarrassed and Wolfgang laughed at him.

“You wanted facts and now I’ve given them. Do what you want with it. If you want something, you work towards that goal and never hesitate about the things you want. You either pursue it until you get it or move on and that’s that. It's your life after all.” Wolfgang smiled again.

Marcel felt like there was something urgent he needed to do. He’d learned a lot just from having listened to Wolfgang talk about his life and he felt like that one invisible barrier that stopped him taking some sort of action broke when he saw what Wolfgang showed him.

“You see, nowadays, old vampires who lost their bodies long ago have begun waking up again. They sometimes come to thank me for what I did back then, happy that I ended that pointless fighting. Honestly, it makes me happy when they tell me that. I did what I wanted and I think that you should too. Never let anyone stand in your way.” Marcel was also happy after receiving such great advice. He could do nothing but agree with Wolfgang.

“Thank you, and sorry, but I’ve got to go now. I know what I want to do now.” Marcel said before getting up and leaving. He turns back to wave at Wolfgang and Wolfgang told him that he’d contact him later. Marcel nodded and continued.

Marcel ran to go find the demon lord, but why would he do such a thing? Well, the answer is hidden in what Wolfgang showed Marcel. Let’s take a look, shall we?

[Flashback]

A few minutes ago, Marcel asked for evidence and Wolfgang gave him what he wanted. Here’s what he saw;

He saw the demon lord stopping a war, helping people who’d suffered from famine because of a drought in a dimension by turning it into a lush tropical jungle with his power. He also saved a whole race from a catastrophe brought on by a dungeon being unable to hold a monster anymore, helped the dryads protect their forest and many more feats like building an entire city overnight and helping refugees from a war settle in. The demon lord had done a lot of things and Marcel was unwilling to admit it but he had to. There was so much evidence that he also felt like he'd explode from their sheer size of it all.

[End of Flashback]

After seeing the demon lord do all those things, Marcel couldn’t tell himself that the demon lord was just doing good deeds to trick everyone because he knows that it’s a lie. He ran back to the venue of the party as fast as he could to do that one thing that he felt like he could now do and boy, was he feeling butterflies in his stomach. He was feeling nervous and happy at the same time and he didn’t know how he’d say it but he still planned to anyway.

After getting back to the party, he found the demon lord entertaining the guests and he looked just as handsome as before he left. The conspicuous jewel that was hard to ignore its beauty, Marcel thought, although calling the demon lord a beauty wasn't something he wanted to do, but it was the only word he could find to describe him. He walked up to his side and asked the guests the demon lord was entertaining if he could borrow his ‘husband’ for a while. The guests were more than happy enough to let him have the demon lord and as Marcel dragged the demon lord away, he could hear the people the demon lord was talking to just now, talk about how they looked so perfect for each other. Marcel didn't have anything to say or think about concerning that.

So, Marcel dragged the demon lord along with him until he found a less crowded part of the room. When they finally stopped, Marcel's expression suddenly turned serious, making the demon lord wonder what he was up to.

“Screw the forty-year time limit. I accept your proposal.” The demon lord heard Marcel boldly say. He could feel his eyes open wide in surprise as he heard what he thought Marcel’s just said.

“Really?! Do you mean what I think you mean by that?” The demon lord asked, overjoyed, although not too make Marcel think that he was overzealous.

“Yes, I accept your proposal. I’ll be your wife, but I don’t belong to you, so don’t get any funny ideas like last time. That’s all.” Marcel said, then quickly left before the demon lord provoked any symptoms of blushing to appear, although not before seeing the gleam in the demon lord’s eye and the smile on his face when he heard him. Marcel laughed as he left the room, feeling quite satisfied due to what he’d done just now.

Anyway, if he ever changed his mind about the demon lord, he could just find some new reason to slay him like he originally thought he had to. There’s also the fact that being closer with the demon lord means that he can admir- I mean spy on him if he wants to find some dark secrets of his.

So, Marcel abandoned his original objective and was feeling quite happy about his choice too. It felt like his worries had disappeared after he agreed. The room was full and Marcel felt like getting some fresh air, and just after leaving the room, he bumped into someone a few meters away from the front door.
