I answered that question extensively as well under another comment that not all Uchiha have an ability.
Do you for example know Madaras sharingan ability?
it wasnt stated in the series due to the fact he had rinnegan already when it all started. but all other mangekyou sharingan awakeners has abilities
Or maybe because Kishi is terribly inconsistent with his own source material.
