Chapter 11: Eternal Refinement I

.................

“This life we live nowadays. It's not life, it's stagnation, death-in-life. Look at all these bloody houses and the meaningless people inside them. Sometimes I think we're all corpses. Just rotting upright.”

~ George Orwell

Isaac hates stagnation more than most things, more than even himself. It's only a little bit behind decline.

Therefore, he doesn't allow himself to stagnate. If he doesn't improve significantly through the day, one way or another, then he failed himself.

He spends every waking moment of his in seeking knowledge and improvement, and despite the existence of his shadow clones which get no rest, he still has to do something himself.

No, he wants to do things himself. He can not only allow his shadow clones to do the work. He has to lead by example.

"I call it Telescope, my latest creation, able to observe distant objects," Isaac introduced, "It's just a prototype though and it's not helpful to the current problems of the world at all, so I will put it aside for now."

"Observing distant objects?" Orochimaru was confused. It's only been two weeks since Isaac joined him so he wasn't expecting much.

"Yeah, like the moon," Isaac nodded.

"Hm?" Orochimaru narrowed his eyes, assuming that the telescope could see more than what the naked eye could, so he didn't waste time in trying it, "This?"

Orochimaru's eyes couldn't help but constrict, 'I see why it's called a telescope. It's just like a microscope except the opposite.'

Orochimaru was fascinated, spending quite a lot of time outside, observing the distant stars. It was a rarity for him not to hold himself underground in his research facility.

It was Isaac's turn to hold himself underground as he read through the scrolls Orochimaru left for him.

That was Orochimaru's method of teaching, just leaving him some scrolls and books and then doing his own thing.

'Bloodline limits include even Dojutsu. However, that's not the thing I wish to focus on,' Isaac mused as he turned the pages and continued to read.

'Bloodline limits also include Advanced nature transformations that combine two basic natures in order to create a new one, such as water and wind to make ice or fire and earth to make lava. Although it is common to use more than one nature, actually combining them requires a kekkei genkai... But why?'

That's something he already knows, and he, in fact, knows much more about Bloodline limits, 'I am almost certain that it's possible to combine two chakra natures to achieve the so-called special natures.'

However, why is it not possible to take the last step? He wondered. What is it about genetics that allows the special natures to manifest?

It took a long while before Orochimaru came back, but before the latter could voice his own doubts about the telescope, Isaac asked first, "Have you made any discoveries in regards to bloodline limits?"

"And why would you be studying bloodline limits?" Orochimaru responded with a question of his own, narrowing his eyes in doubt, doubts he has about Isaac, his aspirations, and mannerisms.

"It's for a project of mine, Terraform," Isaac responded honestly, "A project to transform the environment to introduce more rivers into the world as well as get rid of natural disasters among other things."

'...' Orochimaru's eyes couldn't help but brighten a bit, "And to do that would require some special chakra natures, such as Wood release."

"Indeed," Isaac nodded.

Orochimaru realized that he had misunderstood Isaac.

The old man told him that he was someone who only wants to improve the world which is antithetical to Orochimaru's inherently selfish motive, knowledge, and immortality.

Isaac's ambitions were greater than he thought and by virtue of his invention of the telescope, Orochimaru saw him as a talent in his field of work, "What do you want to know?"

"Why is it possible for those special natures to only exist through bloodline limits? I'm specifically talking about advanced nature transformations.

Theoretically, it should be possible for anyone with talent, yet I can't make any progress on the subject." Isaac shared his doubts.

"Hehe," Just that question alone told Orochimaru of Isaac's progress in the subject, "I know why but I do not know the solution, or rather, I have a general idea of why, their DNA holds the foundation of their bloodline limit, the instruction to follow for the special nature to manifest."

"I don't follow?" Isaac was confused as he questioned, "The instructions are something I follow when I try to combine two natures, yet it still feels as if something missing, and the foundation of the combination seems stable. I still don't see what I am missing."

"Hmm, how do I explain something I don't fully understand myself," Orochimaru mused before turning his attention to the computer screens about, "I don't know how much you know about computers since they're rare, but it's like a code specific to one's genetics."

"Meaning?" Isaac wondered.

"Meaning that it's almost impossible to reproduce," Orochimaru answered, "It almost feels like we all have the foundation to perform all jutsu but we require a code to unlock them, and that code is specific to a person, although that may not be the case for families as their DNA is very similar... The cost of forcefully injecting the wrong code is... Death."

"Code... The code," Isaac murmured, his eyes brightening by the second as his creativity started to show itself, 'I understand what I have to do.'

"However," Suddenly Orochimaru added with a strange smile, "If you let me take a close look at your eyes, I may figure something out."

The reaction he expected from Isaac didn't come as the latter was too far gone in his sea of imagination.

Orochimaru knows that look. He had experienced it many times, with moments of inspiration and enlightenment, so he didn't interrupt the kid.

'Emergency connection... Uploading of memories. Subject: Harmony of Elements Fusion,' That's what was going through Isaac's mind.

The connection was established, and somewhere underground, Isaac... The real Isaac blinked. He halted his work and went to the hall where he found dozens of clones awaiting his arrival.

"About the code, what do you guys think?" Said Isaac.

"I'm almost certain that we can create a genetic code with chakra alone, absent from any biological matter," Said the clone of wisdom, "However, that means you will not be able to benefit from the technique."

"Indeed," The clone of reason, "The clones aren't made up of biological matter, thus we should be able to modify ourselves relatively easily, but you can not."

"That should not be our focus," The clone of perfection stated, "Our focus should be on creating the perfect Artificial Intelligence, The Overseer, and as long as it's able to use the code, that would mean success."

"How long would it take to perfect the Overseer?" The clone of reason asked.

"To perfect it to the bare minimum would take a decade at least," The clone of perfection answered.

"And are we to use the bare minimum?" The clone of arrogance snorted, "Are we pieces of garbage like the rest of them? We should reach for the sky, nothing short of perfection."

"I agree," The clone of perfection nodded.

"We are garbage," The clone of modesty couldn't help but say.

"Indeed,"

"We are,"

"We struggled with a simple technique for years... Worse than garbage."

"Absolute trash."

Several clones seemed to agree very much when it comes to self-hate.

"We are not worse than garbage."

"Indeed, you are exaggerating."

"We are only at the level of garbage,"

"And we are much better than the rest of the garbage out there."

'Ah, for god's sake,' Isaac had to rub his temple. The combination of so many contrasting personalities certainly gives birth to wonderful ideas, but that came with its own challenge, "Stop!"

Isaac took a deep breath before continuing, "I think we started on the wrong track. We are following our proceeders' path instead of researching the infinite paths out there... Think Fuinjutsu as a foundation and something like runic magic as the goal."

The clones' eyes brightened as the moment they saw a clear path, they initiated the grand synchronization with thousands of clones connected to each other in a constant exchange of ideas.

Fūinjutsu is a type of jutsu that seals objects, living beings, chakra, along with a wide variety of other things within another object.

Fūinjutsu can also be used to restrict movement or unseal objects either from within something or someone.

The presence of a seal is marked by the appearance of formations of technique formulae, kanji, or else other kinds of symbols.

The symbols are the basis of Isaac's research, and it isn't the first time he has researched them either, but never with this intensity.

Isaac started viewing the symbols as the code that guides chakra, the programming language of the world.

Therefore, the incomplete technique called Harmony of Elements Fusion had to be restructured in its entirety.

Combining multiple elemental chakra natures with absolute precision, this advanced technique allows the user to create new, harmonious elements with unique properties.

The perfectionist meticulously balances each elemental component, resulting in a fusion that is greater than the sum of its parts.

The technique can revolutionize the World, yet it took only one week to complete it after that burst of inspiration, showcasing just how close Isaac was after years of work.

The exact moment that the technique structured itself in his mind, Isaac had the brightest of smiles on his face, never had he been so happy.

That feeling when the perfectionist perfects his craft, when he creates something so close to perfection, forging it by his own hands.

It was an overwhelmingly new feeling for Isaac to the point that his eyes glowed red, then revolved and revolved until.
