Li Ming didn’t dwell on it for too long and just shook his head. “Well, if he doesn’t remember, then he doesn’t. No matter what I think, it wouldn’t be good to bother him any further. Let’s just continue eating! Also, why don’t you tell me what’s going on at the railroad station? It’s been almost a month now, surely, something will be going on.”

Rui Lan sighed when he brought that up, thinking of the new guy that Boss Mo had hired. “Oh god, don’t even start mentioning it! You know, I always knew working with you was nice. Now that you’re gone and they hired somebody new, I’m just realizing how stress-free it really was.”

Li Ming couldn’t help but chuckle. “That bad? Honestly though, it might just be because they’re new. Just give them some time to get adjusted to the place. Who knows where they’ve worked before and how much experience they have? It’ll take some getting used to.”

Rui Lan grumbled, feeling that Li Ming was too nice. Why couldn’t he have some designs on the job at the railroad station? Like, if he wanted to come back after taking a break, that would also be nice. Not to mention that Mo Fang wasn’t there anymore. Since they wouldn’t run into each other and he was over him anyway, he really could’ve come back.

But looking at Li Ming’s attitude, that wasn’t what he wanted. In fact, looking at him … Rui Lan couldn’t help but think that for the first time since the break-up, Li Ming looked really happy. Clearly, even though there were still some things that were bothering him, he was in a better place.

He shouldn’t bother him with his own worries. Well, at least not in that regard. He glanced at Cang Gui Ying, wondering when she would give them a moment alone. Anyway, he still wanted to chat about their current situation with Li Ming. Unfortunately, it really didn’t seem like he’d get a chance anytime soon.

At this moment, Li Ming wasn’t thinking about that problem so he had no idea that his friend was already anxious to get him alone for a moment. He just happily chatted away with the two of them, inquiring about everything that had been going on and telling them a bit more about how things had been going for him.

Since the question of Mo Fang and Su Yan was out of the way, they didn’t touch upon his love life anymore and Rui Lan and Cang Gui Ying both decided that they didn’t want to bother him with their own either. Thus, they had a really nice chat, not focusing on any problems for a while.

Two hours had passed when Cang Gui Ying turned to glance at her boyfriend. “Alright, this was really nice but I guess we should go. I promised a friend to come over in the evening.”

Li Ming nodded, feeling that this was only to be expected. “I invited you over on such short notice, I can already count myself lucky that you had this much time. It was really nice having you. If you want to, I’d be happy to host again some other day.”

Cang Gui Ying patted her stomach and looked at the bowls that were almost empty, finally sighing. “You know, I would immediately agree to that but you seriously need to make less food if you want us to come by. If I eat this much on the regular, I’m afraid the others will laugh at me when I go back to work.”

Li Ming couldn’t help but chuckle and then motioned to Rui Lan. “Just ask your boyfriend to take you with him to work out.”

Cang Gui Ying gave a hum, feeling that Li Ming really didn’t know what he was talking about. When it came to Rui Lan and working out, he simply didn’t want to go with her. It wasn’t like she hadn’t asked him to. But no, he always had some kind of excuse. It was almost as if he didn’t want to spend time with her.

Li Ming could see from her expression that he seemed to have brought up something bad and hastily cleared his throat. “Well, if you’re self-conscious about that, we can also talk about what you’d like me to make ahead of time. There are some health-conscious dishes that are really tasty. I’m sure you’d love them!”

Cang Gui Ying didn’t want to dwell on her boyfriend’s irresponsible behavior at such a time and instead focused on Li Ming. “Well, in that case, I’m definitely not going to say no! You should come over to our place sometime though. I’d feel bad if you were the one always having the trouble and we are just making good use of your food.”

“I’ll keep it in mind.” He didn’t mind hosting and might even prefer it this way but he also understood why she wouldn’t like that.

He got up to accompany the two of them to the door, but just then, Rui Lan cleared his throat as well.

“You know, I don’t really need to come with you, right? I mean, it’s your friend! And I’d love to hang around with Bro Li for a while longer.”

Cang Gui Ying looked at him and couldn’t help but feel that he was once again avoiding her. Really, was it asking too much that he helped out a bit? Normally, she would’ve argued but seeing as Li Ming was still there, she just plastered a smile on her face and nodded. “Of course! The two of you also haven’t seen each other in a while. How could I get in-between you and your fun?” She patted his shoulder and then turned to Li Ming.

He gave a noncommittal smile and then motioned to the door. “Then … I’ll bring you to the door?” Walking over there, he couldn’t help but feel that Rui Lan must be really anxious to talk with him. And if that exchange just now had been any indication, then he had been right that there was some tension between the two of them again. He really wondered what the problem was this time.
