Chuntao opened her eyes to find herself no longer inside of that modern kitchen, but floating in the air of a rundown building.

[ Would The Host like to know the story of this world? ]

"If you would be so kind, Mifan."

A wall of text suddenly appeared in front of Chuntao, making her jump back a bit. There was surprisingly not much information to read through, like a lot of it had been cut out.

You are currently in the body of Li Meiling, a peaceful ghost in a survival game who only exists to assist players. You must do this whilst completing your tasks. ]

Chuntao scratched her head in confusion. "Why do I get so little information about the plot?"

[ Because you don't need to know the plot to do your job. ]

"That's reasonable. Could I see my tasks, please?"

The original wall of text in front of her was suddenly replaced with a new wall of text, except his time it was a check-list.

[ Task To-Do List ]

[ ] Make a feast consisting of: one kind of noodle or rice dish, stir fry, and vegetarian side dishes

"This sounds simple enough but..." Chuntao looked down at herself. "How do I cook as a ghost?"

[ Ghosts in the survival game have the abilities of normal humans such as touch and other senses, but often have supernatural abilities to kill players. ]

Chuntao nodded. "That makes sense." She acknowledged, taking a better look around. She noticed that she was in an attic, a dusty, old smelling attic at that. There were cobwebs on the rafters, dust coating boxes, and other items. Most noticeably, there was a rocking chair with a doll sitting in it.

The doll and chair were the cleanest things in the attic. The doll was cute looking, with pretty brown eyes and long black hair that looked as if it were brushed daily. A ruffled white dress covered her figure and a painted smile rested on her face, cute but somewhat unsettling. She couldn't help but feel a connection to the doll as she picked it up and cradled it in her arms.

"Whose doll is this, Mifan?"

[ It's Li Meiling's doll. It's also the place in which her soul resides, allowing her to be a ghost. ]

"Really? Why a doll of all things?" Chuntao caressed the doll's cheek. "How old was she when she died?"

[ Li Meiling was 18 when she died in a house fire along with her parents. She was clutching onto this doll while she was dying, which ended up fusing her soul to it when she died. ]

"... Well that's a bit sad." Chuntao couldn't help but shake her head. It was always a pity when young lives were lost before they could truly do anything with them. She had the right to feel a bit sad when hearing Li Meiling's story.

"What's the survival game currently going on?"

[ The current survival game is finding out the secret of a secluded village that's been cursed. The Host is currently using a home that has been long abandoned as her residence, which also works as a safe house for players. ]

Chuntao let out a low whistle as she floated out of the attic and into what looked like a second floor. "That'll be helpful for those people. How nice."

She began to explore every area of the house with the doll in her arms. She grew curious when she saw a full-length mirror in one of the bedrooms. Chuntao desperately wished to see what Meiling looked like since she was given no description by Mifan.

She floated her way over to the mirror and took a peak before having her breath get caught in her throat. Cute was the only thing running through her mind. Li Meiling was adorable.

As she had died young, Li Meiling still had a youthful appearance about her. For a ghost, she looked surprisingly alive. Flawless skin that looked soft and white as tofu, lustrous ebony hair, brown eyes like roasted almonds, plush pink lips like fresh tuna, and a petite figure.

The only thing that even suggested that she was dead were the singed ends of her hair and nightgown.

She was definitely the type of girl that Chuntao would ask on a date. But now she was her, which was a bit regretful. Chuntao let a pout appear on her face.

"Mifan, can you tell me where the kitchen is?" She questioned, turning away from the mirror.

[ The Host is above the kitchen right now. If she goes through the floor she'll be right in the center of it. ]

"Oh. Thank you."

Heeding her System's advice, Chuntao descended into the kitchen through the floor with only a bit of difficulty as the doll decided to get stuck in the floor boards for a bit. Fortunately she was able to pull it out.

When she was able to see the kitchen, a long sigh escaped from her mouth.

Aiya, this kitchen was so run-down and elderly looking that it could go inside of a costume drama and look just fine. How was she supposed to work in these conditions?
