The tiles of the kitchen floor were cracked and dull, the wallpaper peeling, the counters dusty and filthy, the stove old and surrounded by ash. A complete dump that had been abandoned.

She didn't even wish to mention the unknown black matter growing in a corner, causing her heart great distress.

"Mifan, does the System Store have cleaning products?" Chuntao asked, sighing and wandering around the kitchen a bit. She wanted to find a place to set down Meiling's doll, but all the surfaces were so filthy that she couldn't bring herself to do it.

[ There are many. Would Host like for me to purchase the best ones for cleaning the kitchen, house, or both? ]

"Cleaning supplies for both, please. I may not be able to fix up the entire place but I can at least make it cleaner."

[ Yes, Host. Purchasing in process, please wait... ]

Chuntao didn't have to wait long as soon after she heard a soft 'ding' go off in her head and a box appeared on one of the counters in the kitchen, causing a plume of dust to go up into the air. Then came the confirmation from Mifan.

[ Purchase complete. Enjoy your purchases. ]

"Thank you, Mifan." Chuntao said sincerely, going over to the box and opening it up. Inside it were, as she had requested, various cleaning products. Disinfectant wipes, spray cleaners, sponges, rags, duster, somehow a mop, along with other things.

"This System Store is really convenient. It's like it has everything." Chuntao mused, thinking back to her appearance change. "Is there any item that I can buy to keep my original appearance?"

[ There is. ]

Chuntao blushed a bit. She had just been talking to herself outloud, but had forgotten that there was another being in the room with her at all times. That was a new thing to get used to.

"Then could I get that as well? It feels weird looking in the mirror and not seeing... Well, me."

[ Of course, Host. Please wait while the purchase and process begins. ]

Once again, Chuntao didn't have to wait long for the reliable Mifan's notification along with the soft 'ding'.

[ Purchase complete. Appearance of Host has been changed back to its original, pre-transmigration state. ]

"Thank you, Mifan."

[ You're welcome. Feel free to call upon me for any other tasks. ]

"Then I'll be troubling you."

Chuntao nodded and floated back upstairs, back to the bedroom to look at herself in the mirror again. She couldn't help but feel relief when she saw the appearance of Yu Chuntao rather than the appearance of Li Meiling.

Instead of the youthful, pure look of Li Meiling, she now possessed the familiar face she was used to seeing in the mirror. Although her skin was kept healthy and clean, it still had a bit of aging to it. It wasn't as white as tofu, but had a healthier pink blush to it. Her hair was back to its bobbed, wavy style, brown like roasted chestnuts and well-maintained. The eyes were still a brown color, though more like coffee rather than almonds in color.

Chuntao couldn't contain the sigh of relief that went through her. While she was no where near as cute as Li Meiling had been, she was herself and that's all that mattered. While Li Meiling gave the feeling of a girl next door, Yu Chuntao was more mature. The woman who had her act together and goals clear.

Giving herself a dimpled smile in the mirror, Chuntao rose up through the house again to get back to the attic. She set Li Meiling's doll back down onto the rocking chair and pet its head.

"I'll be back, so wait for a bit while I clean." She spoke as if coaxing a child before going back through the house to the kitchen, rolling up her sleeves before rummaging through the box of cleaning supplies.

Like she was asked, the doll sat quietly in her rocking chair. Although she had the urge to begin rocking, she knew that it would make the floorboards creak.

She wouldn't like to be a bother and interrupt the cleaning.

Chuntao, unaware of the doll's good behavior, was scrubbing down the kitchen like it was her life's purpose. The dust and grime on the counters was eliminated, revealing the wooden beauty of their prime. The floors were mopped, sweeped, and double mopped until her reflection could be shown in it. The cobwebs in the corners were disposed of, although she felt a bit bad for the spiders she was evicting. The oven actually worked just fine, it just needed to be cleaned up. A traditional wood stove like this was great for making authentic dishes, especially one in such good condition. The only problem now was...

The black corner matter.

Chuntao stared at the blob in the corner of the kitchen and it seemed to stare back at her, sending a chill down her spine. Which was a bit strange considering she was a ghost, but who doesn't fear the unknown? Especially the unknown of forgotten things.

Chuntao didn't approach the black blob, lightly poking it with the handle of a broom. It rolled and she jumped back, losing any confidence she might have had.

"Mifan, could you get rid of..." Chuntao shuddered a bit. "that thing for me, please? I don't think I can do it."

[ Why don't you ask the doll? ]

"The doll? Why would the doll know how to get rid of this thing?"

Chuntao thought Mifan was being a bit ridiculous. How could that little doll know how to get rid of the black menace of the kitchen corner?

Mifan let out a giggle, thinking that their Host was a bit silly.

[ Of course it would know how to get rid of it. Li Meiling has been dealing with those little spirits for a long time. ]

"... I was wondering what happened to Li Meiling since I took her body."

Rather than being terrified as she had been holding a spirit in her arms for a good while before setting it down again, Chuntao was just considering it as fact. There was no reason for her not to believe Mifan, nor was there reason for the System to lie to her. It was simple.

[ Well, a part of Li Meiling is in the doll. She goes by another name though. ]

"Another name? Perhaps the name the original Li Meiling gave to the doll?"

[ Exactly. The Host is quite observant. ]

"I thought this was common sense. The first thing someone would think of." Chuntao couldn't help but comment. If she was considered observant, was the rest of the world just a bit stupid? Who wouldn't think of such a thing?

She'd rather not ask. The ghost floated back up to the attic and was met with the cute little doll again. Chuntao took the doll into her arms again and brought it into the kitchen. Pointing at the 'spirit' of black matter in the kitchen corner, she asked the doll a question.

"Could you get rid of it for me?"

The doll seemed to look at her in confusion, little eyes staring at her. Then they blinked for the first time and looked at the little black spirit which shook in fear at the little doll.

It still did nothing other than blink, worrying Chuntao.

"If you can't, that's alright. We'll just leave it there."

[ Host, you have to say the doll's name then ask. ]

"But I don't know her name. I didn't get the memories of Li Meiling."

Mifan: ......................

Mifan forgot about this significant fact. As its Host didn't need the memories of this body to get her tasks done, she hadn't gotten them. How could she know the name of the doll if she didn't even know the doll's origins? It couldn't help but feel it had failed as a System.

[ The doll's name is Tiantian, Host. ]

Chuntao looked down at the little doll in her arms, still only blinking it's eyes at her. She opened her mouth once again and asked.

"Tiantian, could you get rid of that thing for me?"

As if awoken from a slumber and full of vitality, the little doll named Tiantian wiggled her way out of Chuntao's arms and walked towards the spirit, the black mass attempting to escape.

It obviously had no chance as the porcelain of Tiantian's face contorted into shards, exposing a gaping maw full of all consuming burning fire. Grabbing the escaping spirit, she let out a chortle that caused the fire to blaze brighter as the spirit was sucked in and then trapped inside her mouth, Tiantian returning to normal. The painted smile being a bit more cynical.

Wobbling her way back to Chuntao, Tiantian clung to the girl's leg and looked up at her hopefully. A child wishing for praise.

Chuntao bent down and pet the doll's head before picking her up again.

"Good Tiantian."

The little incinerator's painted smile seemed to glow with joy, ignoring the screams resounding on its insides as the spirit was burning and clawing at her porcelain to escape among many, many others yet unable to.

Like a good girl, Tiantian helped Chuntao clean and furnish the house after another System Store order to Mifan. Swallowing a few spirits into her gaping maw here and there as well.

It was a good first day in the little house, the two spirits inside completely unaware of the tears being cried by the competitors out in the cursed village.

[ Isn't Tiantian the best little spirit incinerator? ]
