Different from his first Lightning, the second one didn't scare Leon all that much. As expected, Leon had to concentrate for a while, but once the cloud formed after ten seconds, it hit the exact place Leon had designated to hit. It wasn’t powerful like the ones he had seen in storms, but it was stupid powerful magic nonetheless… and it was at level one.
“…I bet with this; I can surprise a megalodon.”
That being said, Leon wouldn’t use it. It requires time to be used, and it used a lot of mana. Leon decided to train that skill now and then, but his goal still was to use the steel platform and the steel spears to go to the continent and then from there find a safer way to go home.
Days passed fast while Leon was training his skills, despite his constant vigilance, nothing really major happened. He thought that someday the smoke he used to attract pterodactyl would attract a dragon, but fortunately, it never happened. Even if it happens, Leon had already a plan to deal with that, he dug a hole and would use it to protect himself from the flames of a dragon.
“I guess they don’t approach because the oceans belong to the megalodons… I don’t know if I feel thankful knowing the fact that the dragons’ power isn’t absolute or if I feel depressed that I will have to face such creatures both in the ocean and in the skies to survive the trip.”
Just knowing that both creatures could oppose each other was bone-chilling. Leon could easily imagine a movie of those two abyssal monsters facing each other and becoming a blockbuster.
One day Leon started to ponder if he could ride a tornado to escape from the island, he was confident that he could obtain and level Wind Resistance to decrease the damage he would receive, but soon gave up on the idea. Even if he could start one, there was no way to control it. He would be able to free himself from the dangers of the megalodons only to chain himself with the chains of the uncertainty. In the worst-case scenario, he would end up in the middle of the Pacific ocean with no island on sight.
Leon didn’t want to admit it, but he already became used to his daily life on the island. The darkness of the night didn’t scare him anymore, and the fact that he didn’t hear any human voice in almost two years didn’t bother him. Despite that, there were days where he couldn’t help but worry. Nothing unusual happened in those days, but once in a while, there were days were Leon would forget his goal. He trained because it was already a habit, and he didn’t recall his goals or his family. Those days were the worst because after noticing that, he would feel his heart grow cold, and he also felt like something was stuck in his throat.
The next days after those kinds of days, Leon would work twice as hard. He was determined to go back home, but considering the difficulty level of his goal, he couldn’t help but force himself to be patient. Regardless, Leon started to question if someday he wouldn’t just forget about his goal… since he barely could remember the voices of his parents and little sister.
Scared of that possibility, on the day of his second anniversary on that island, Leon decided to escape using the steel platform and his lances. He knew that he wasn’t ready, but he had to try. He had enough power to control three objects at the same time without relying on blue angel leaves, and he could fly at forty meters per second, but still wasn’t enough.
Leon started to fly at his top speed. He was flying one hundred meters above the ocean, but still, that wasn’t enough. Suddenly a massive megalodon jumped from the sea at a fearsome speed. Leon didn’t want to believe that thing could reach him, but it did. While sweating cold, he attacked the monster’s eyes with his spears while he maneuvered to avoid the impact. Despite his fears, he succeeded in doing both. Leon pulled his spears back, and the shark fell on the ocean while its eyes were bleeding, causing a massive splash.
However, Leon didn’t have time to celebrate. Two others jumped at the same time to attack him; once again, he succeeded in evading and attacking the monsters’ eyes. Since he attacked with his full power, he started to eat the blue angel leaves, but he stopped when he saw the two megalodons falling in the ocean, but he didn’t see the first one.
"What the..." Leon frowned.
Leon didn’t like that, so, without thinking twice, he decided to return to the island. Suddenly the other two megalodons came to attack him, and one of those two had blood in its face. Leon recognized that it was the one in which he attacked him first. At that point in time, Leon was wasting mana, he decided to fly higher to avoid their range, and the bastards finally gave up when Leon was flying two hundred meters above the ocean. However, Leon didn’t drop his guard. Instead of that, he hurried to go back to the island when he saw a massive flying monster approaching in the distance. It was a dragon.
Leon managed to escape, but that situation confirmed his suspicious once more… he wouldn’t be able to escape without killing those monsters.

Bruh. Please. Why does every protagonist ignore the luck stat? If you get it high enough, good fortune is a powerful weapon.
I think that potentially the luck stat only affects the drop rate of items and tomes from killed creatures and does not affect events and stuff
@RobotRatz666 That is still quite powerful, with how rare the drops are. He can sell them if he doesn't need them and buy the things he does need. Regardless, I think it would be very interesting to see what kind of an affect the luck stat has in this world.
@RobotRatz666 Yes but how does he know that?.. And that's the point, he doesn't know and he didn't try it. Most people would at least put a few points in it to at least not leave it at level 1 specially after 2 whole years.
Don't forget he's testing and trying everything without any knowledge. So not a single point in luck to try it out is stupid. (He still has bash for easy level, and squander a few points).
@Otherdeath I agree with you. Especially later when he finally meets new people he does not ask what the luck stat does which is sad.
While I agree that it would have been smart to put at least a few points into the luck stat, it would be silly to assume the luck means good luck. Maybe the luck stat increases the chance of beneficial, but dangerous events. Like the tsunami; it nearly killed Leon, but the end result was those magical plants. Maybe if he made his luck stat really high his island would turn into a dragon's nest. Thanks to the dragon living there the ambient Mana increases, however they are dragons and will kill Leon.
@WaterBear6 Huh, interesting take on that. I mostly just wanna see what happens if he does put points into it.
@LoRezInferno He gets a harem of every female on the planet, has a multi-year long orgy, and then the Earth is swallowed by a blackhole.
@WaterBear6 Interesting... But again, he tested everything BUT luck, not even a single point. He tried out every stat based on assumptions and testing but even if Luck is some intangible leaving it at 1 instead of putting to "average" values of 3-4, taking into account the MC personality then it doesn't make much sense.
@Otherdeath I agree, I personally would put points into luck. However, I don't think one should assume that luck is good luck. It could simply increase the chances of unique events happening. Most likely though, is that luck increases the chances of a rare drop, that would be more balanced for a system.
@WaterBear6 Just so we are on the same page, my problem is not the possible effect of Luck. Is the MC mentality when he at least attempted and tried the effect of everything he could possible use even with no immediate effect but he completely skipped luck.
Seriously, there is not even a part where he debates the use of points in luck, it was just completely ignored which contradicts a bit the way the MC thinks. About the actual use of luck, i agree it could be various things and yours is probably the most correct.
@Otherdeath I think the author is still learning to try and add more details to his writing.
...why does every protagonist ignore the luck stat....what the hell have you been reading, no really tell me i would love some stories where the mc doesn't dump luck
@mirasin That's what I was thinking, I have read a bunch of stories where the luck stat is beyond over powered and the Mc is the only one to like it.
@WaterBear6 I must agree that I’m tired of luck being op
@RobotRatz666 still would be a great thing as he could learn sumthin
Who needs luck when you have plot armor! For reals tho, luck has its uses but it is lowest priority in a power-fight. Luck would be high priority in peaceful times or if the enemy is unbeatable. Eg: useful for inventing, investing, improvising, and running away/hiding.
@Otherdeath Has he killed a few fish he should at least be lv2
@mirasin
The writers put the luck stat there to mess with our minds.
