Description:
The Angler class is the starting line of the Fisher classes. It starts with the fishing rod, improves their baits and lures, for then taking to the sea where they learn to use nets and fight the worst of sea monsters.
Anglers are one of the Gatherer-line Special Classes, which has a close relationship with several Artisan Classes. Anglers in particular act as customers to Woodworkers, while they sell their goods to Cooks.
They are well-received and easy to find in port-towns or other cities with bodies of water that contains fish. It is a class often taken by Sailors as a Sub Class, or by elderly people that have some Skill Points left after their retirement.
Alf's comment: The only thing Anglers are dissatisfied with the class is that it lacks skills suitable for fishing with nets.
Garami's comment: That's for the next class to take care of. If I'm ever in the need of money (not likely), maybe I could sell some nets (webs) to those guys?
An updated version of this chapter, which includes explanations regarding the class skills, can be found here. Be aware of slight spoilers.
But does that mean if someone is fishing with a trident,a net or bare hands, the poor soul will have to go through 50 fishing rod fishes in order to get in the Fisher classes?
Angler gets most proficiency when fishing with a rod, but the act of fishing itself, no matter the method, will increase the class level. The fishing rod's still the best way.
@Greydra I meant to unlock the class. For example there could be people that only ever net or trident fished and never heard about fishing rods, maybe those don't exist in their civilization or they're living isolated or whatever. Those would never see Fisher classes.
@Dradel Ouch, I didn't think of that... Did a little revamp of the conditions. This should let it be easier to obtain the class.
@Greydra Just saying, could predatory fish type monster acquire this class?
@crazedreader As those that swim in the ocean and hunt down other fishes? Not really, as that is an act of hunting them instead of fishing. Fishing is more like forcing the fish out of the water. But building a dam and then pick up the fish counts.
