I was walking to school while munching on a piece of toast. After dad…no, I supposed he is just that man now, had done what he did. I was forced to change schools. Mother had found a place to live with some of the money she got from the divorce. Luckily it was near her side of the family. They were distraught over the divorce and how we were treated, but they were poor themselves. They couldn’t offer anything except emotional support.
I finally arrived at the gates for the school and walked in. Even though it was a public school, they, like many others, had adopted the style of schooling seen in Japan. As I was walking towards the entrance, I saw Aria. She used to be a good friend until she found out about my past and then spread it around, using it to bully me.
“Well, well, if it isn’t the fallen princess. How’s life with us, poor commoners?”
Aria throws a taunt in my direction while she and her posse move to block my movement.
“Aria, I’m not in the mood right now.”
“Well, too bad because I am in the mood. Maybe if you lick my feet, I’ll let you pass.”
“Fuck you! You became a real bitch; you know that?”
Aria was not happy with my response.
“At least your mother knows her place. Whoring around with rich men just to survive.”
At those words, something inside me snapped. I started laughing this insignificant ant that just insulted my precious mother. I remember the terrified look on her face before my vision went red. Once I came back to my senses, I was standing over Aria’s body, her face was covered in blood, and my fists hurt like hell. Looking around, I also saw two of the three other posse members lying on the ground in the same state.
Shit, I was trying so hard to control my emotions. That was why I joined a local gym in the neighborhood. I would work there part-time, and they would give me Muay Thai and Krav Maga lessons. Something to focus my mind on and to de-stress. I didn’t tell mom about it because she didn’t want me to work, so I would always use the excuse I was going to a friend’s house.
Once I heard some of the faculty members run my way, I knew I was screwed. I will probably be suspended, and mom will find out about my real activities.
I am sitting in front of the principal with three other very beat up students. I look over at Aria, and she just flinches and looks away. I don’t know what I did to her, but it traumatized her…and I think I like it.
“So, Miss Allen, what do you have to say for yourself?”
“I know my actions are inexcusable. I accept responsibility for them, but they were not unprovoked either.”
Hearing my response, he turns to Aria and speaks.
“Miss Greenwood, what is your response?”
She looks both at the principal and me before stuttering her response.
“I…I…It was all my fault. I started it. I have been bullying Yuki for a while now.”
Both myself and the principal were shocked at this sudden confession. I expected her to make up an excuse, and I think he did too. Damn, now I really want to know what I did to her.
After thinking for a moment, the principal spoke up with our verdict.
“It is clear that you are taking responsibility for your actions, and you are promising students. So the four of you will be suspended for one month. All your schoolwork will be sent home and must be completed on time. You will remain here until your parents come and pick you up.”

I had just finished talking with Alex about some of our plans once we joined the game when I heard my phone ring. I walked over to our outdated landline and answered.
After saying a few acknowledgments, I hung up the phone. I knew Alex could read my expressions because she hurried over towards me.
“Sarah! What happened?”
“Its Yuki. She got into a fight at school. From what I understand, she was being bullied.”
“Poor child. I hope she is ok. I walk with you to school. Shame, I didn’t drive today.”
Walking for about thirty-five minutes, we arrived at the school and walked to the principal’s office. Walking in, I saw Yuki and ran over to her and hugged her.
“Yuki, are you alright? You’re not hurt anywhere?”
I look over at Alex and follow her liner of vision. Sitting down are three other girls, all of which look like they were mauled by a small car.
The principal gets our attention and discusses the punishment of my daughter. He also showed the video of the fight, which is now circulating on MeTube. It was shocking because I didn’t know she knew how to fight like that, such brutal efficiency.
Finalizing the paperwork, we walk back home. There was an awkward silence in the air, that is until Alex broke it.
“So you really beat the snot of them, didn’t you?”
I could see Yuki was embarrassed and didn’t quite know how to respond.
“Uh…yeah, I did, Auntie.”
“They were bullies too. Dang, I wish I did that when I was in high school.”
I decided to stop Alex from further encouraging future fights; I broke into the conversation.
“Yuki, dear. Where did you learn to fight like that?”
With that simple question, I could see the fear in her eyes. Like she knew I wouldn’t like the answer.
“It’s ok, sweetie. I won’t be mad at you.”
Giving a sigh of relief, she responded.
“I work part-time at a gym, and they pay me fighting lessons. It also helps me to calm myself.”
“How do you manage to work part-time, go to school, and do class projects at your friends? Wait…Yuki…you don’t have any friends, do you?”
“No, mom…I don’t. That girl I beat used to be my friend, but she became a bully instead.”
We walk in silence the rest of the way home, trying to think of some way help my daughter. Arriving at home, I lead Yuki to our small living room.
“Yuki, I have some news for you. So, sit down and listen.”
I then recap everything Alex and I talked about regarding my new job. It was funny to watch her facial expressions throughout the conversation.
“So, I think it would be a good idea if you also joined me. I know I said you couldn’t get a job, but this way, we can spend time together and still earn money. Your Aunt Alex will join us too, and we even thought of making…what were they called again, Alex?”
“They are called guilds. We will make a guild for family and friends only.”
“Yes, what she said. Since you are suspended for a month, this will give you something to do, but only once you finish your schoolwork. That way, you can release some of that pent-up stress.”
Yuki jumped out of her seat and hugged both me and Alex. She also promised to do better and help us as much as she could.
We had an excellent dinner, thanks to Alex, and we discussed our plans for the game as our VR pods should be arriving tomorrow.
Fumu. Yuki seems to have a lot of potential as a berserker. How old is she?
I never really understand why bullies never expect the victim to strike back. Does anyone know why this is?
Thanks for the chapter
She is 18, about to graduate and be off to college.
@Sfayte What is Yuki's physical type? For these bullies to be so arrogant in front of her, does she perhaps seem delicate?
It is because they choose those who don’t have many allies making it detrimental to fight without getting blamed by majority.
@Paradoxofages So the bullies try to use society as a shield to discourage their victims and believe that it will continue to work no matter how much they burn or erode the victims' patience and sanity, right?
@Gin0001 Yes and it’s ends in graduation, murder, or suicide.
@Paradoxofages Are they stupid or just like the thrill of danger?
@Gin0001 neither it doesn’t end in murder unless the person is mentally unstable and the others they feel indifference for so it’s uncommon for there to be a risk.
@Paradoxofages Still, I can't see any benefit in deliberately making grudges and unnecessary enemies. After all, even if the victims do not turn out to be murderers, they can become some big fish in some company that the bullies are going to look for a job and interfere in order to be rejected, right?
@Gin0001 Yes but most people don’t meet after graduation but like I said they pick on the weakest link in a position of power, it could happen if the victim is very smart but most of the time they would be looking for jobs at the same time and not already in a position of authority to decide on who gets the job.
@Gin0001 After all no one would pick on a child of a company and get away with it which would discourage any attemt
@Paradoxofages But still making unnecessary enemies seems silly to me. After all, even if victims cannot take revenge directly, they could just ignore bullies when they need help in the future, no matter how big or small the problem or danger is...
In my opinion, being on good or neutral terms with other people can save anyone from problems or even avoid them, if you're lucky. After all humans are spiteful creatures, right?
@Gin0001 Yes but some people just don’t think ahead and go for what’s in front of them and people are not logical by nature.
@Paradoxofages some people let personal grudges cloud their judgement too and take their anger out somewhere unrelated.
I once was bullied by this skinny kid with an afro that kept saying “come get me Zavha0mnic! Hit me!. As I had started swinging at him and stopped myself like a week ago, I was proud of my self control, after that he just kept provoking me. I turned and walked away. Then looked back to see him trun around to go to class and I ran up behind him and slammed my fists like a hammer onto his head. A teacher saw and I got in trouble.(worrrrrthhhh it)
They don't expect it cause they're idiots
@Zavha0mnic The very essence of bullying is to do it to people who do not defend themselves, if you defend yourself, even if you fail miserably most of the bullies will stop bothering you, the others are the ones who cause real problems, but these are in the US, for which I am saved.
@_ciro_ It reminds me that a bullie once threatened me while the teacher went to the bathroom and I ended up taking the threat seriously since I was a little sleepy. I stood up, took two long, fast steps towards him, while looking at his throat with my hand in the form of Toriko's ice pick, then he started to run away while using the other students and PCs as a shield and hid at the bottom of the and then the surprise of his cowardice woke me up and calmed me down and I went back to my chair. But if he hadn't run away, I would undoubtedly have attacked him.
@Gin0001 Indeed, once you wake up angry, it stops being funny to most.
@_ciro_ Although at that time i think me was more dominated by my inner chuunibyou than anger.
@Gin0001 xddd
Because if you strike back the bully end up dead killed by the people who get angry over losing ther punchbag or you get sent to jail for murdering in self defense after being abused and hit with knife strangled etc by people it seem like crazy bit it is like that the only thing you can do is run away if you call the cops on them for murder atemp they will laugh it off as children fight or will take it seriously punish them then they will or they friend come back for vengeance and either kill you or make you kill yourselves in unfortunate accident x)
Those kind of people are scary because they don't fear the consequences of there act
@lolodu09 As I said, I am saved because I am not in that place with the largest number of crazy people per 1000 inhabitants in the world, called the United States.
@_ciro_ It can also happen to people who want to defend themselves but don’t know how to because of the consequences since sometimes the teachers don’t even commit enough braincells to decipher to the tone and, expressions used in conversations(aka being irritatingly irresponsible) and other times straight-up help the bullies making the school life of the victim(s) all the more painful(aka being a bast##d) and, I would consider them lucky if the victim(s) can pull through with the power of sheer fking will(and friendship) or if they mind break at their home near family and friends which would gives them a chance at recovering….
@RedSkyShip It reminds me that one time in high school, there was a guy who often annoyed me there was a day when he was more insistent, I got up from my chair holding my mechanical steel pencil, looked at him and said "Just know that I don't I'm afraid of you! The only reason I don't stab you in the neck right now is because if I do, I'll be arrested." Strangely, he didn't respond at all, or maybe I didn't notice, since at the time I was really bad at reading reactions and I went back to my chair afterwards.
I expected him to try to attack me so I'd at least have an excuse to rip some wounds on his arms with my mechanical pencil.
@Gin_Otamegane Honestly bullies can sometimes go too far and I experienced it first hand and it was quite annoying. And your reaction to those bullies make me chuckle in amusement since you might look like a delinquent(no offence) if even bullies are scared of a simple threat. xD also as a sidenote how many bullies did you encounter in your school life? you pretty much have the 「Trouble Magnet」skill at this point.
@RedSkyShip I'm too lazy and too otaku to be a delinquent.
I just think that if I'm going to suffer anyway, it's better to defend myself right away so I don't have to put up with it for too long. And of course doing as much damage as you can to make them see that the pleasure of being a bullie isn't worth the risk.
And also when I threatened this bullie I didn't even think I could beat him in a fight, but I was confident that I could cause him wounds that would hurt a lot in his daily life for at least more than a month, before I fell. I wonder if he was scared due to him having good instincts. After all, I planned to take a punch from him, just so I could grab his arm and rip the arteries in his wrist as they came within reach.
My memory is kinda weak but I think there were at least 5 bullies.
How about you?
@Gin_Otamegane I remember having to put up with uhh…. Some 2 kids 5 teens and 2 adults?? I forgot what happened to the rest but I do know that those adults when through a hella big embarrassment since I was one clever 10 yo at the time and it helped that I was reading about some laws since the book I was reading was confusing me a bit so I googled some words that led to law research.
They broke the RA 7610(child protection law) and Art. 330(The law of Property damage, the kids and the adults themselves threw rocks at my internet pole and hit the roof leading to holes which was quite a pain to manage) since I had no witness for the 7610 case I thought that I wouldn't make much use of it, (the only witnesses are me and the bullies themselves)
I was alone at home with 2 phones I took pictures and even videoed em doing it. To that I laugh since the local government immediately took action and apparently voices( I flipped 1 phone on a nearby shelf while they made their demands..Yes ADULTS demanding something from a kid that isn't even blood related to them….I was "threatening" them by calling my mom which made them act a little bit aggressively ) work too when submitting an evidence of crime since they went to jail a few years I still remember what I said when I saw them in cuffs I said quote "MWAHAHAHAHAH KARMA BEETCH" xD that led to the 2 of the kids and 1 of the teens to be angry at me but it was satisfying as fok and I was in a very great mood so I didn't go out the day after because I was sadistically savoring their predicament of not having 10k pesos(5k for breaking RA 7610 and 5k for property damange) to pay for the fine….
That concludes the short story of why you shouldn't bully kids who can read complicated english books… (As an adult) POWER OF LITTERATEUR MFFFFFF!!!!!!! xDD…this is a story im saving to my brain every time the topic of bullies and punishment come up and I just remembered it today so thanks for making my day dude! And I was a little excited when sharing this so sorry if it came up messy.
@Sfayte ah 18....just old enough to validate that incest tag...maybe the twin too
@Gin_Otamegane I remember something like this happening with me one time but instead I didn't make any threats or even use a weapon of any kind and just stood up and pretty sure I imagined the entire confrontation in my head before I even did anything and he walked away before anything started
