So we're doing things just a little differently. These won't all come into effect at once, they'll become relevant as the story progresses.

Klyntar (Marvel)
Spoiler
Klyntar (Marvel) Cost: 10 SP The Symbiotes, or Klyntars, are an inorganic, amorphous, and symbiotic species created from the Living Abyss at the dawn of the universe by the elder god of darkness, Knull. An incident that destabilized the symbiote hive-mind led to the Klyntars rebelling against their creator, ultimately imprisoning him within an artificial planet. They named both the planet and themselves "Klyntar," meaning "cage" in their language.
Symbiotes are genderless beings that reproduce asexually, and while they lack individual names without a host, they differentiate themselves through unique emotional patterns. They feed on their host’s adrenaline and have a craving for phenethylamine, a chemical found in brains, which has led some symbiotes to consume the brains of other creatures. Fortunately, phenethylamine is also found in chocolate.
When bonded with a host, Klyntars enhance their partner’s physical abilities and powers. They boost strength, durability, stamina, speed, agility, and can even provide a healing factor. For example, a normal human bonded with a symbiote could match or even surpass Spider-Man in strength.
They also possess a range of other abilities, including ageless immortality, shapeshifting, mental communication with their host, reading the host’s memories, and controlling the host's actions to some degree (although strong-willed hosts can resist and even reverse this control). Klyntars can provide survival in extreme environments like space or underwater and possess a danger sense. Their latent psychic abilities make them resistant to telepaths as well.
Symbiotes leave behind traces of the Living Abyss in their hosts, granting those they bond with access to the powers of previous hosts, regardless of how long the bond lasted. Even supernatural beings can be infused with symbiote codices. Additionally, Klyntars have a genetic memory, allowing them access to their parent's knowledge and powers. For instance, Venom's descendants inherited Spider-Man's abilities. While symbiotes grow stronger with each new host, their genetic memory also gives them psychosomatic weaknesses to intense fire and sound, a vulnerability carried down from their painful creation by Knull.
As creatures born from the Living Abyss, Klyntars can bond with inorganic materials, allowing them to interface, augment, and merge with machinery, such as Iron Man’s armor or spaceships. They are also capable of killing gods and absorbing their divinity. However, their most dangerous ability is the power to corrupt all of creation with darkness, making it an extension of their own being.
You can choose which symbiote to bond with, whether it’s an established one like Venom or Sleeper, or even create your own. Rest assured, your symbiote will never betray you.

Talos-1 represents the pinnacle of human ambition, with its self-sustaining, highly automated systems ensuring smooth operation while advancing groundbreaking science at the edge of human knowledge.
Trained Personnel Required: Morgan(a) Yu (Prey) What’s a cutting-edge orbital research station without a crew to bring it to life? Having the Chief Director and a descendant of the Founders as a companion, it would indeed be unusual to operate such a facility without a capable team supporting its operations. With this add-on, Talos-1 comes fully staffed, ensuring every role on the station is filled by qualified personnel.
Your station will now host a complete and highly trained crew, with redundancies built into critical roles. The staff includes scientists, astronauts, cosmonauts, engineers, security personnel, janitors, and an assortment of backup team members to ensure smooth functionality. Human personnel are further complemented by a robust network of Operators, providing automated assistance and maintaining operational efficiency.
This cohesive workforce ensures that Talos-1 not only functions as intended but thrives as a hub for innovation, exploration, and security. Whether conducting groundbreaking research, managing day-to-day tasks, or responding to emergencies, your crew and Operators stand ready to support the station’s ambitious endeavors.
Above the Cutting-edge Required: TranStar Industries (Prey) Leveraging your complete technological knowledge and peak research capabilities of the Talos-1, your station now operates at a level beyond cutting-edge. Your Operators have been significantly upgraded, with humanoid variants running modified neural frameworks composed of all Neuromods available in the station's database. Each sector is now overseen by a version of Morgan(a) Yu Operator, ensuring unparalleled efficiency in design, testing, and research processes.
The station’s fabricators and recyclers have also advanced to extraordinary levels. With enough time and resources, these systems can construct an entire new station with minimal material loss. This development greatly enhances the sustainability and scalability of your operations. Research into Typhon materials has similarly reached new heights, enabling the creation of synthetic variants that reduce the inherent risks of studying such formidable lifeforms.
Talos-1’s modular design and adaptability have been enhanced to unprecedented levels. Should the need arise for secure containment cells or specialized research facilities, the station can "print" new sections. These additions are equipped with state-of-the-art safety measures, including rapid deployment capabilities and self-destruct systems for emergency containment. Each module is entirely self-sustaining, featuring integrated Plasma-Fusion Reactors, Solar Panels, and Magnetosphere Generators. These upgrades allow the station to function independently, even in harsh environments such as orbits around Venus or Mercury.
Talos-1 is now more than just a research hub; it is a fully adaptable, self-replicating technological marvel, prepared to tackle the most ambitious challenges in the cosmos.
Another Extra-Dimensional Menace Required: Klyntar (Marvel) Your science team initially thought the Klyntar was just another Typhon anomaly, a strange lifeforms discovered within a satellite, responding to life signals. However, after donating a sample, they realized its vast potential. Now, you wield full control over Klyntar biology, similar to how you manipulate the Typhon. You can force them to create offshoots, generate valuable raw materials, or tap into their Hive-Mind for collective coordination.
The Klyntar Hive-Mind offers more than just synchronization; it grants access to an immense reservoir of shared knowledge. You can harness this intelligence to streamline large-scale operations, research, and innovation. Additionally, you can genetically modify the Klyntar to produce bio-engineered materials, such as self-replicating nanobots, bio-metals, and even biological weaponry. Their remarkable adaptability makes them ideal for designing self-sustaining ecosystems, both for research and practical applications.
Taking this further, you can experiment by integrating Klyntar matter with other species, creating hybrid symbiotic organisms. These enhancements could lead to improved human or alien capabilities, such as augmented strength, cognition, or sensory abilities. By merging Klyntar biology with technology, you could also develop organic interfaces, bio-computers, or sentient weapons. This power opens doors to revolutionary breakthroughs in biotechnology, human augmentation, and perhaps even interdimensional warfare, with the potential to shape the future of both organic and synthetic life.

The Typhon (Prey)
Spoiler
The Typhon (Prey) Cost: 0 SP Required: TranStar Industries (Prey) Required: Overmind You're now the head of a Typhon hivemind similar to the Apex. Akin to a Weaver, you can produce any Typhon species shown in the Prey series, such as Mimics, Telepaths or Nightmares, as well as any subspecies. You're even capable of formulating new, unique species of Typhon against specific threats. You're also able to reanimate corpses into Typhon variants, called Phantoms, by infusing them with your psionic energy.
Typhons are limited to devouring biological creatures' consciousness, alongside their organic matter, to use their psionic energy and matter to replicate. You, however, only require organic matter to produce Typhon, as you can infuse them with your own psionic energy when creating them. Larger and more powerful Typhon species require a greater amount of psionic energy and organic matter to create; even creatures as large as the Apex can be produced if you have enough.
You possess the unique physiology of the Typhon, a mass of exotic black matter that exhibits solid, liquid and gaseous properties simultaneously and can be altered freely to move and shapeshift at will. Due to your vast psionic power, you also possess all of the abilities and powers demonstrated by Typhon in the Prey series, such as telekinesis, invisibility, teleportation, mind control and matter mimicry, to name but a few.

-----???/Our Protagonist-----
-----Our World-----
-----Modern Day-----
You know something? I'm really annoyed. The reason for my annoyance? The lack of any good Prey (2017) fanfiction. Seriously! There is so much potential there, but no one does anything with it!
Then there's the "Let's Player's" on YouTube! For some reason, most of them try to stick to "no neuromods" or "human only" runs! What the fuck is wrong with them?! You're given all these kickass possible alien superpowers and you choose to be plain, boring humans for your audiences while hording the alien powers playthrough for your personal time?!
If I had some money and free time, I'd get the game myself so I could have fun messing around with the Typhon powers, but alas, I cannot. Ugh! The Typhon are freaking awesome! I kinda wish I could be like Morgan Yu and have access to those powers for myself. Not sure what I'd do with them, but it'd be a hell of a lot more entertaining than my current life is.
Sighing once more at how dull my life as a boring ass human male is while yawning massively, I decide to call it a night, lower the brightness on my laptop to minimum, and go to sleep. At 5AM, as usual.
Little did I know, that was the last night I'd ever spend as a "boring ass human". Looking back on it now, I can only say one thing. "Humanity is overrated."
-----???/Our Protagonist-----
-----???-----
-----??/??/????-----
Darkness. Muffled voices.
"The new specimen is producing elevated energy levels far in excess of our calculations!" A man's voice calls out in a strangely muffled tone.
"Warning! Warning! Containment failure imminent! All personnel to evacuate Psychotronics Division immediately! Station Security Division has been dispatched!" What?
Then I hear a crackling of electricity. "Shit! Shut it down! SHUT IT DOWN! NOW!!!" A woman's voice calls out.
Then my vision is filled with a bright light while my ears are filled with a ringing sound like tinnitus. My head begins to pound mercilessly before I lose consciousness.
...
-----???/Our Protagonist-----
-----Earth(?)-----
-----??/??/????-----
Waking up from my dormancy, I take a moment to observe my surroundings. Hmm, there doesn't appear to be any prey to consume to fuel my propagation in my immediate surroundings. Wait, what?
Why does this feel so... wrong? I'm pretty sure I went to sleep/entered dormancy somewhere else. How'd I end up here? Wherever here is?!
With no indication of my present whereabouts other than it being some dark, dank, filthy alleyway, I decide to err on the side of caution and- "Aha! That object is small enough!" -tapping into my natural instincts, I mimic one of the various discarded items of refuse nearby.
Wait, why does this register as something I shouldn't be able to do? But I'm a Mimic? Isn't it natural? Hmm...
As I stand by continuing to mimic the object that part of me insists is a coke bottle, how I know that, or why I care for that matter is beyond my understanding, nor do I understand why I'm questioning this, or how I'm capable of questioning anything; eventually, a suitable prey stumbles carelessly into the alley and slumps down nearby.
Deciding to make my move, I gently roll my bottle-self over towards the prey. It seems that this particular prey isn't very bright, but they'll do just fine for my purposes.
"Hmm? Coulda sworn... ah, never mind." Says the target. It seems they noticed the sounds of the bottle rolling along the ground, but are doubting themselves. Good. I'm close enough now.
I revert back to my Mimic-self and jump towards my prey. The prey is obviously startled by the sudden turn of events, but that's the intention. I latch onto the prey's uppermost extremity and extend one of my tendrils into its largest orifice. Reaching in, I penetrate the tough inner layer and reach the organ housing the neural energy of the prey.
Draining the neural energy of my target, I'm suddenly overcome by a most peculiar sensation. I could devote the energy I've gathered to generate more Mimics, like a Mimic normally could, or I can imbue the energy into myself. I feel as if doing so would be a good idea, so I decide to do so.
"This new specimen bears similarity to the Typhon organisms superficially, but it's unlike anything we've ever even imagined." A woman's voice says in the back of my head.
"It's ability to adapt to and integrate with both organic and inorganic matter is unprecedented. We've seen vague similarities with some of the rarer Typhon, but this organism seems even more adept at it." Another woman's voice says.
"Not to mention the evidence that it's capable of forming symbiotic relationships with other life forms makes it more viable for commercial and military applications." A man says.
"What do you think would happen if we tried to have one of these new specimens, these... 'Klyntar'? What the fuck kind of name is that? Anyway, what would happen if we tried having a Klyntar enter symbiosis with a Typhon life form?"
Snapping out of the strange flashback-like event, I find new information floating about in my mind taken from this prey I've just consumed. Homo sapiens. Human. Along with the basic information about the Human species, I seem to have gained some of the human's knowledge. Not much, but a general rundown of the state of this world.
Evidently, I find myself on a planet called "Earth Bet". I'm located in a city called "Brockton Bay, CT". There are an unknown number of individuals composing a number of groups of individuals called "Parahumans" who possess abilities that are atypical of what Humans should be naturally capable of.
For some reason, this information springs to mind an unnerving sense of reminiscence. Obviously, this is impossible, yet... Hmm, in any event, I should dispose of this body somehow. Until these "Parahumans" and their powers are properly understood, there is a risk of them being able to detect my existence whenever I'm engaging in Mimicry.
The best move I can make is to eliminate all traces of my presence, which means disposing of the corpse of my prey. Hmm, my instincts tell me that a Weaver could pull it off, but I require additional Mimics to either turn one into a Weaver, or become one myself.
Or... I can "bond" with the corpse of this Human? That doesn't sound like something a Typhon should be capable of. Yet it feels correct for some reason.
Suddenly, I feel myself begin to "stretch" out and cover the corpse of the dead Human and then I seep into its flesh, becoming "one" with it at the molecular level. Taking a look at "myself", my current form is remiscent of a Phantom. LIke this, I could likely pass for a "Case 53" in my current form but more in depth analysis would quickly reveal my duplicity.
This won't work for long. I need... I need... I need to expand.
Sensing additional minds nearby, I stalk towards them while manifesting a psychic shield though it seems that might not be necessary given that I'm up against a handful of homeless vagrants.
What excellent starting Prey.
-----Chief Director Morgana Yu-----
-----Talos-1 Research Station; L2 Lagrange Point; Lunar Orbit-----
Oooowwwwwww. That fucking hurt. Then I feel a prick sensation before the pain begins rapidly fading as the Medical Operator levitates away.
"Thank you, doc." I say to the MedOp before turning towards the rest of the scientists still here in Psychotronics. Thank every probable deity in theoretical existence that there wasn't a full scale containment breach or we'd be severely fucked.
"Status report?" I ask one of the technicians.
"Still waiting to hear back from Central Control for an overall status report, but so far Psychotronics is showing green lights across the board. Having said that, the Typhon seem to have become... agitated? I almost want to say 'excited' about something."
Well that's not at all concerning...
"Oh shit, Dr. Yu? We have a massive problem. The Prototype is missing from the observation chamber! And it's not doing the invisibility nonsense that Poltergeists are known for either. It's really not there!"
Oh. Oh that's bad. Like, really really bad. Could things possibly get any worse?
Oh Goddamnit! Why did I just think that?!
"Doctor? We've lost all contact with Home Base back on Earth. None of the TransStar satellite network seems to be online. It's not a problem on our end, we checked that already." Comes a rather ominous report from Central Control.
"Also... we're seeing no signs of Pytheas Moon base. Though we are seeing what looks like remnants of a moon base of some sort, but it doesn't match any known records of lunar facilities in our database." Okay, that's even weirder than the TransStar satellite network being completely offline.
"What the fuck?! What the hell happened to Earth?!" Another voice screams into the comms network from Central Control.
"What's going on?! Why are you yelling?!"
"Ma'am! Newfoundland, Canada is gone! As in, not present! We've currently got a good look at the North American continent right now and Newfoundland is straight up missing."
"What?!" "How?!" "That doesn't make any sense!" Various personnel listening in to the report all start panicking over the radio. Well this is going to take a while to sort out.
How come the original chapters are still up and these rewrites are being posted just as new chapters on the same fic page? I was very confused to see the 26-chapter fic actually only has 5.
Also new readers clicking the "read" button on the fic page will be taken to the original prologue, not this new version.
Some people like being able to go back and read original versions.
@DemonLordShadowheart you could have posted it as a new fic, with links in the synopsis and announcement chapter on this original? I guess it's not really a huge deal, but once you post enough chapters to push the announcement and first few rewrite chapters off the visible ToC, there's going to be a near-zero chance new readers notice, and they'll all read the original 20 chapters before hitting the announcement which is not a great reading experience, breaks the immersion.
So will þis version of our protagonist take on þe identity of Morgan Yu also? (Perhaps by merging with Morgana*).
* Also Morgan is already Unisex, why use a Feminine variation?
The original version took on the name "Morgan Yu", the Morgana Yu of this version is the actual Morgan(a) Yu as a Human being who exists on Talos-1.
@DemonLordShadowheart, þat much I understood (my wording wasn't þe best).
I'm more questioning y þe CYOA (& perhaps by extension u) felt þe need to give Morgan a masculine & feminine name raþer þan keeping it unisex.
Also, I notice, your answer doesn't rule out þe possibly of þe protagonist assuming þe "Morgan Yu" name. Despite þe existence of Morgana.
(͠≖_≖ )(≖_≖ ) ... I wonder.
@Ranger_Hero587 I just went with "Morgana" for the companion to make it clear that we're dealing with female Morgan. As for our Protagonist's new assumed identity? That's a secret.
Þank you, 4 þe clarification.
