-----???/Our Protagonist-----

-----Brockton Bay, CT, Earth Bet-----

Over the course of several days, my growing hive of Typhon and I have been on the hunt looking for more prey to convert into Mimics and Phantoms. In the mean time, I've come to some form of understanding about myself.

It seems that for whatever reason, I am able to utilize the abilities of other Typhon organisms, but only in my "Original Body". When I focus my Will on other Typhon organisms, then I can use their abilities through them, that's not the problem. The problem is that when "possessing" the others, I'm limited to those Typhon's inherent abilities. Kinetic Blast for the Phantoms, Mimic Matter for the Mimics, that sort of thing.

But when in my "first body", I'm able to freely utilize Kinetic Blast or Mimic Matter as I please along with Phantom Genesis. Out of curiosity, I try and create a Weaver from one of the many Mimics under my command and then promptly smack myself in the "face" with my "hand" because I'm an idiot.

Possessing the Weaver gives me an instinctual feeling of the Weaver's capabilities that I was missing out on. Namely Backlash, Cystoid Generation, Cystoid Nest Construction, and Coral Weaving.

With this new discovery, I quickly gestate a Cystoid and construct a Cystoid Nest and "possess" them to see if there's any additional insights that I need to gain from them. Turns out the answer was "yes" since now I'm able to activate a Radiation Aura that is extremely lethal against Humans, even if they're wearing shielded equipment.

After "learning" these new abilities, I shift my consciousness back into my main body and lo and behold, I can now utilize the powers of Weavers and Cystoids. With that in mind, I resolve to try and produce at least one of each Typhon organism to "learn" their powers as quickly as possible.

So naturally my next goal was to convert some Mimics into a Telepath from which I "learn" about Psychoshock, Mind Jack, an improved Kinetic Blast, and an improvement to Backlash that lets me summon up an invincible psychic barrier around myself so long as I possess Thralls controlled by Mind Jack. Good to know.

There's just one downside to this whole learning process of mine. Despite being able to utilize the powers of other Typhon organisms with my main body, I can only use said powers at their most basic level. Having said that, I feel that with enough eneryg and training, I can eventually unlock the higher tiers of my various Typhon powers, but that's kind of annoying.

Although, with all of the Phantoms I've been raising, I think I'm actually getting somewhat close to unlocking <Phantom Genesis II> which I'm really looking forward to.

Well, may as well try and go for it.

-----Random Bum A-----

-----Alleys of Brockton Bay-----

"Man, tonight sucks. Why it gotta be so damn cold that all the damn hoe's isn't out on the street? I need me some pussy."

The jackass next to me starts laughing and coughing, then responds. "Hah! Look, I know them Merchant sluts'll put out for cheap, but they wouldn't touch your shriveled limp dick for $100!"

"Go fuck yourself!"

Then, I see some weird shit come outta a manhole cover. A weird-ass inky black floating blob thing with a big-ass glowing purple light that I guess is an eye. Man, either the drugs I took earlier are making a comeback, or that's a Case 53.

The thing looks over at my buddy, then begins to emit a purple light from its eye, shining it on him.

"What the fu-? Who said that?" He says. He tripping?

"What are you-? No. No! Nonononononononono! Get out! Get out! Get out!" He starts screaming all of a sudden. Then all of a sudden, he stops making sound, lurches to his feet, then turns to look at me.

"Run! It's- it's- in my head! It wants inside of us!" Oh fuck no! I'm outta here!

I stand up and prepare to book it, but when I turn away from the thing, I see these shadowy looking mother fuckers blocking the alley with long-ass shadowy tentacles for arms or something.

Then one of them says. "Even if we're dead, it won't be over."

The other then replies. "It´s over!"

I start backing away from the things, but then I'm grabbed from behind by my buddy. I desperately try to shake free, but he's a hell of a lot stronger than normal and doesn't seem to feel pain. He's got me in an iron grip and refuses to let go. Then I feel something worming into my head!

-----???/Our Protagonist-----

Such incidents were not unique. There were plenty of examples of similar occurrences throughout the evening. I kept a couple of homeless bums under the Telepath's thrall in order to maintain its barrier, the rest were fed to the Mimics.

And once those bums were Mimic'd all over by Mimic's, I went to work and, after a couple dozen more generic Phantoms were successfully raised I finally felt something click into place inside my head as the instincual knowledge of [Phantom Genesis II] settled into place. Oh yeah, that's more like it.

Well then Telepaths, let's spread out and find some more Humans to harvest. Now that I've gained a comfortable advantage against biological opponents, I need to consider mechanical opponents. I've gleaned information from the minds of the controlled humans that the "World's Greatest Tinker", Dragon, makes regular use of remote-operated powered suits.

For that, I must respond. For that, I require Technopaths. Unfortunately, Technopaths are quite complex creations due to being partially mechanical. I can fudge something together, but for proper Technopaths, I'm going to need some serious upgrades on the Human side of things.

While continuing to monitor The Simurgh, I was briefly alarmed as she momentarily became active. My alarm quickly shifted to curiosity as I noticed the direction she was facing. Away from the Earth and towards the Moon.

After staring at the Moon for a couple minutes, she turned back around to her previous orientation, folded her wings back around her body, and went dormant once more.

Deciding to task a reconnaissance satellite towards the Moon to see if I could spot anything unusual that might draw her attention, I felt my circuits briefly freeze up in shock. Orbitting the Moon at the L2 Lagrange Point above the Sea of Tranquility was a whole damn space station!

And it even seemed to be powered! Deciding to try and get more information, I started randomly scrolling through radio frequencies to see if I could pick up on any outgoing transmissions, and after a couple minutes I succeeded!

"Mayday! Mayday! Mayday! This is Talos-1 calling TranStar Home Base! Is anyone receiving? I repeat, this is Talos-1 calling TranStar Home Base! We are in urgent need of assistance! We've had a containment breach in Psychotronics Division! Is anyone out there?!"

"This is Dragon of The Guild. I am receiving you, Talos-1, though I'm unfamiliar with any group called 'TranStar'. Could you please elaborate and give a precise explanation as to the state of your emergency?"

"...Who the hell is this?! This is no time for games! We've had a major containment breach and are in dire need of reinforcements! If you actually feel like doing something useful, then contact TranStar Industries Home Office and inform them that we are in need of actual support!"

Well that was just plain rude. Let's see, "TranStar Industries"? ... Nope.

"My records show that no such company exists." I reply.

"Bullshit! TranStar Industries is the leader in corporate exploration of outer space! You'd better hope our legal team doesn't track you down, you damned punk!"

"I don't think you're aware of who you're talking to. I am Dragon of The Guild. An international Parahuman law enforcement agency."

"And now you're just making shit up!"

"Okay, let's try this again. Do you know who the President of the United States of America is?"

"Obviously. It's President Angela Whitmore."

"Okay, and what's today's date?"

"Is this a joke? It's February 22, 2035." The radio operator replies. Oh this just got even more complicated than I thought.

"The current date is January 4, 2011." I reply.

"Oh yeah right. By the way, what the fuck happened to Newfoundland? It's not showing up on our long range scopes. Come to think of it, it kind of looks like part of Japan's missing too. We're knocked out for five minutes and you lot have somehow misplaced multiple major land masses... Also, what's with the weird feather ball hanging out in low orbit?"

"That is The Simugh currently in a dormant state. She is the third known entity we refer to as an 'Endbringer'. A being of immense power and seemingly driven to slowly but steadily bring about the collapse of human civilization. Her 'older brother', Leviathan, the second Endbringer, utilized his macro-hydrokinesis to sink Kyushu and Newfoundland several years ago."

"..."

"Also, I'm just going to go out on a limb here and say that you're probably from a parallel Earth. We call our version of Earth as 'Earth Bet'. We have limited contact with 'Earth Aleph' through a dimensional portal created using the remnants of the Villainous Parahuman Tinker known as 'Professor Haywire', so we're aware of the Multiverse. It sounds like you're from a previously uncontacted Earth and were likely pulled here through unknown means."

"...This is Chief Director of Operations, Dr. Morgana Yu, and I just heard everything you said. You're saying that our entire station has somehow been drawn into a parallel universe?"

"That is correct Dr. Yu."

"...I suspect I have some idea as to the cause in that case and clearly we need to have a more in-depth talk about the differences between our two Earths. But more importantly, we need to focus on finding the escaped Prototype specimen before it's too late."

"What 'Prototype Specimen' are you referring to?"

"We call it 'Typhon Prime'. And it has the power to single-handedly uplift Human civilization... or bring about our Extinction."
