A man and his dungeon, a simple band of companions, well if you can call them companions that is. I toss the longsword over to the kobold.

“Here you go, you deserve this much at the least.”

The kobold reaches out his arms to grab onto the sword. It’s comedic to say at the least - the longsword wasn’t so large, it was just in comparison to the goblin and kobold that their sizes were made apparent.

I turn to the goblin at this stage, it’s not particularly strong or different from the other common goblins but it truly earned it’s merit.

‘Must be my low luck stat.’

I couldn’t help but inwardly sigh.

“You too, grab a hold of the dagger.”

I toss over the dagger. I was kinda expecting to earn a dagger toss skill too but I could only laugh at the idea.

“You know after all that’s said and done, I still don’t have the faintest clue about the world outside of this cavern. I think that kid that was wandering with the invaders is still around?”

I turn and walk around slowly trying to remember the path towards room 5. I look around to see the signs of battle but there aren’t any. The corpses have been disposed of thoroughly already.

“Truly a fantasy world.” I can’t help but begin to sigh.

I stand at the entrance of the path that will lead to cave 5 and reconfirm with the system.

“Is he still there? Is he still alive or has he already deposed of himself.”

[The invader is still in Room 5 - After the ensuing battle a party of kobolds has continued to surround him]

“Tcch! I don’t have much time, I can find adventurers in the future but who knows how long that's gonna take. You snooze you lose I guess.”

I raise my hand and beckon to the kobold.

“Kobold! Let’s go, we’re gonna meet up with some of your friends!”

Both of us depart swiftly through the somewhat narrow but winding cavern path. To be honest it’s a real eye opener how that burly oaf Tyren was able to speed through quickly before.

We’re gaining ground towards the room but you can obviously tell the difference in speed as the both of us are going. I then decided to let Kobold go ahead. After all, It feels more like I’m still adapting and my body hasn’t an optimal output yet so I can’t get my values worth out of my stats.

“Phew! We arrived on time. He’s still alive, it's not a fruitless journey after all.”

I say as I arrive into the room right after the kobold. It seems to have attracted the attention of all the parties in the room.

“Grrrr! Gehhh geh Ragh Rarrr.”

It seems like one of the Kobolds hasn’t taken well to the arrival of my companion and I.

“A Beast Tamer?! There's one of you in our backwater region! Count my lucky stars I’ll get out alive this time.”

I chuckled. This idiot thinks I’m here to save him. Sorry to disappoint but you’re just a pile of experience points to me. Well I might as well play along.

“That’s right! The scenario does look grim but don’t lose hope! Don’t make any rash moves and stay put.”

“Yes! Yes! I’m sorry to trouble you sir but please get me out of here!”

I inquired about the kobold party opposite us.

[3 Kobolds have been identified as hostile. Summarising as followed]

Kobold - (Level 5) x 1

Kobold - (Level 3) x 2

[The numurity disadvantage is offset by weapons and abilities of the party]

“Kobold, we’re gonna have to tame some of your friends. I don’t have time for those who don’t submit, do you understand?”

As I mentioned my stance I wanted to see how  the Kobold would react. Would it’s loyalty go down? Would it refuse? But it didn’t do either, it simply drew the sword that I had just given it.

‘System are there any details you would like to mention about the kobolds in particular?’

[The kobolds are stronger than the average goblin and have higher hp and minor stats in comparison. Their level is slightly higher as well. Overall party strength is equivalent to the goblins in the room previously. The kobold leader of this party is Level 5 and has slightly higher attack and health than the average kobold. His health values are at 65/70 and has 27 Strength. The other two Kobolds have 42/42 and have 18 Strength - they pale in comparison to your Kobold]

“Jeez. No wonder you’re an outcast. It must be lonely being a genius.”

At this time. I also drew my sword, I had equipped the leather armor that I had won over from Tyren and felt pretty confident in my victory. Even my health had been restored somewhat from that time. Unfortunately I haven’t obtained any HP Regen ability yet.

“I think you should fight the leader and assert your dominance.”

The kobold moved to the front with it’s longsword preparing to fight the kobold leader of the pack. I followed slowly behind to deal with the 2 lesser kobolds, after all it’ll be a good experience for me to fight against larger enemy number sizes, if anything I’m going to be seeing this scenario a lot from now on.

“Well I think it’s time that we begin, I have better things to get onto afterwards after all.”

The kobold leader takes the initiative and runs forward to greet us, the lesser kobolds charge in and follow suit. I go draw my sword and go to intercept the two while my genius of a sidekick fights off the leader. I decide to let the system notify me to keep track of my health and the enemies.

[You have been struck for 3 dmg ]

“It’s only this much? The disparity in items and going unarmed is too great.”

I counter slash on the kobold.

[Kobold has been inflicted with 16 dmg]

Too easy. But I have to reign in my arrogance or else I’ll end up like that gang. After all, a mere unknown factor can swing the tide of the battle.

[You have been struck from behind for 4 dmg]

“This little rascal!” I couldn’t help but blurt out. It feels like being struck by an ant but the blow to my esteem is still there. I have to build up my evasive maneuvers in the future. Or else I won’t have a future when I fight off stronger enemies.

[Kobold(2) has been inflicted with 8 dmg]

The damage isn’t bad from a surprise kick by myself to be honest. In fact it struck the kobold to the ground. Time to take advantage!

[You have dealt a critical blow - Kobold(2) has been inflicted with 21 dmg]

“Hahaha! Let’s see you defend yourself now.”

I’m trying to contain my excitement from turning around and lunging the kobold with my downward thrust.

The battle is progressing quite quickly if I say so myself. I can see that when both sides enter this type of dogfight the conclusion is much swifter than the defensive battle beforehand. I want to keep tabs on the battle of the kobold on the other side but with myself being engaged it is too difficult for me at the moment.

[You have negated the damage from Kobold(1)]

A successful block - I can feel the familiarity with my weapon rising. As they say, experience is the greatest teacher.

[Your sword proficiency has risen to 2]

“Get out of my way!”

[You have dealt 11 dmg to Kobold(1)]

[You have dealt 12dmg to Kobold(1)]

I strike out with two rapid blows in succession after the block. A strike from above and a follow up strike from below.

[Kobold (1) is in a critical state - 3/42 HP]

The kobold in front staggers back - fearing for it’s life. While the kobold behind can barely get up.

“You shouldn’t bare your fangs at your master.”

[You have slain Kobold (1)]

[You have gained some DP. Increased from 280 to 310 DP]

[You have gained 27 EXP. You are now 223/500 EXP to the next level]

It makes me mad, you know if this was another level 1 adventurer he would have level all the way up to level 3 by now. How would I know you ask? Well the level 2 adventurer only needs 20 EXP to level up, so essentially going from level 1 to level 3 should just take 25 EXP, not bloody ‘twenty five hundred’ for me.

“Gr..grr...grr” The living kobold makes pitiful noises looking at its companion die.

“Don’t worry you can follow him soon after.”

My eyes glinted with a malicious light.

“Every drop in the bucket counts after all.”

The sword strikes down on the defenseless kobold.

[You have slain Kobold (2)]

[You have gained some DP.  Increased from 310 to 340 DP]

[You have gained 27 EXP. You are now 250/500 EXP to the next level]

Halfway there. I’m halfway there - my growth better be spectacular.

The battle between the Kobold leader and my Kobold genius still has no victor, I’m surprised actually because with the weapon disparity and the greater vitality of my companion he should have the upper advantage right? Why is it losing?

[The kobold leader is equipped with Butcher's Knife (Cursed). It’s strength rising proportionally according to the dmg received]

“What! A cursed knife - How could my luck be so bad…”

[Butcher’s Knife(Cursed)]

A cursed knife belonging to a butcher who had an unquenchable desire to eat kobold meat. How ironic that the grudge built by the many kobolds slain accumulated on this knife and drove him into madness. He held onto this knife until his dying moments as he was killed by the very kobolds he sought.

ATK + 17

Cannot be unequipped once held

Bloodlust (STR increases with enemies slain)

Berserk - STR increases momentarily in proportion to your injuries. +1 STR per 10% dmg taken. + 1 STR additional for every 10% taken below 50%.

“How is he doing? Do I need to save him?”

[Kobold (Leader) is currently 25/70 HP. STR has increased from 27 to 34]

[Kobold (?) is currently 33/82 HP]

“Ahh this is my fault. He was still recuperating from the previous fight. The weapon disparity isn’t there and this cursed dagger is actually making that Kobold leader stronger.”

I want to enter the fray but a scene occurs. The Kobold leader strikes out in a frenzy but the hits are evaded and the Kobold genius calmly counters.

[Kobold (Leader) is currently 12/70 HP. STR has increased from 27 to 38]

“His moves have become erratic. His berserk state does indeed make him stronger but it makes him prone to exploitation.”

I watch as my companion lunges forward and the long sword which is almost the same size as him plunges through the other kobolds chest.

[Kobold(?) has slain Kobold (Leader). Kobold(?) has gained 150 EXP]

[You have gained some DP. Your DP has increased from 340 to 460]

[You have gained 15 EXP. You are now 265/500 EXP to the next level]

[The Butcher’s Knife (Cursed) has lost its host. You have obtained ownership]

“I’ve obtained ownership? I don’t really wanna equip this cursed thing.”

[Kobold(?) has earned an achievement. “The one who frees the cursed”]

“Ohh an achievement, I wonder what kinda bonus he will get. What a lucky fellow.”

[Kobold (?) has gained the underdog ability. Stats increased by 10% against “buffered” or higher level enemies. ]

“Oii! Can I obtain this power too? I’m sure to be lower level.”

I can’t help but frown at this point. This is one lucky dog.
