Hey guys! I just added a new tier for my Patreon! I have my base 5$ Tier that lets you get ahead by a chapter! (Which updates a few moments after I publish here).

I now have a tier that is 5 full chapters ahead of here! I plan on doing a batch of five chapters every two weeks or so, and eventually upping my release rate a bit for this story in turn!  If it's not your thing that is fine too!

Thank you for all of your support and let me know what you feel about this story in the comments or as a review/rating! I love you guys!

After looking through the weapons, I was still torn between a dagger and a polearm. While my class was based on being an assassin, it still allowed me to choose various weapons. I looked over the collection for a bit before I decided on sticking with a dagger. I will prioritize sneaking and getting my kills since I am not strong enough yet to fight more than one head-on. Besides, it would fit my style a bit more to pick them off one by one.

But what kind of dagger would I want? I looked over the blades and thought deeply over my choices. Would I want a straight dagger or a curved one? I picked up a small straight-edged dagger and felt how it was balanced in my hand. It felt alright, but something about it felt off. I looked through the racks and came across one that had a gentle curve to it. It wasn’t something like a dark elf blade, but the curve was gently and almost barely noticeable. It felt perfect for my hand, and I nodded my head. I found the blade for me. “I will take this one.” I turned around and handed the blacksmith the dagger hilt first, and he grinned. “Aye, lassie. That's the proper way to hand off a blade. But let's go get this purchase complete so we can be on our way.”

We walked over to the counter, and he placed the dagger down. “So, with the reimbursement fee and the cost of the dagger that breaks it down to four silver. Is that alright?” His brown eyes glittered as he eyed me, waiting for my counter offer. Oh, merchants of any sort and their haggling.

“Two,” I replied with the lowest price I can think of without actually offending him.

“Three and a half, and that's my final offer.” He shot back just as quickly. I eyed him for a moment before smiling at him. That was cutting the price down as it is, so I can't complain about that.

“That's fine. Thank you for your business.” He nodded and brought out a quill and quickly wrote on a scroll as I gathered the coin out for him and placed it on his desk. He presented the scroll to me along with the blade and sheath and took away the coin.

“Thank you so much for not leaving me weaponless. I’ll be back with more gear if I find some.” I Turned around and gave him a wave as I left the building.

“Aye, lassie. Thank ye again.” He called out as I left the building with the dagger clutched in my hand like a lifeline. This was my new weapon. It felt so much better than the soldier's sword did in my hand. I need to pick up some leather or something to pick up to attach it somewhere on me. Well, time to go shopping and restock on supplies before I go out again.

I went around Orsalon, picking up various potions and even a strap that I can use to attach my dagger, which I ended up placing around my waist so that I could draw it from my back. It would be the best place I can draw my weapon while I am out hunting. I glanced at the clock and decided that it would be best to head back to the inn. Tomorrow I will spend all day hunting those goblins and maybe make a few coins on it in the process.

I hummed to myself as I prowled along the plains as I watched the goblins wander around collecting things. They must be trying to collect resources to build up their settlement, which is where we come in with the culling of them. Otherwise, they would grow too fast to be contained. They may even evolve into Orcs, which would pose a major threat to this entire region. Thankfully the adventures have been pretty vigilant on keeping their numbers down to manageable levels. I kept myself pressed low and watched them as carefully as I could. They seemed to be roaming in packs today. I was not as weak as I was yesterday, so it should only be a slight hindrance to fight more than one at a time, but I am not quite sure yet if that was a good idea or not.

I quietly followed a small pack of three goblins as they wandered away. One held a sword, another a club, and the last was empty-handed but looked to be foraging. Was I strong enough to fight them all? That thought crossed my mind again as I prowled behind them. I was only level one, after all. I chewed on my bottom lip as I tried to consider all of my options. I had new skills and a weapon that I could rely on, so it's doable. The only issue is that many of the skills I am new to and haven't practiced with yet. Curse my constant desire to rush into things unprepared.

I mentally used chains of requital, and a long thin chain appeared in my hand. It was the same color as my fireball spell. The chain-hung rapidly grew from my hand and quickly fell towards the ground with a quiet thud. I quickly looked up at the goblins to make sure that they didn't hear it before I mentally cursed myself for doing something stupid like that. I weighed it in my hand and was surprised to feel that it was light, yet it felt as sturdy as any other chain. I clenched it tightly before I banished the spell. It cost a portion of mana to keep it going, so it wasn’t worth it for now. I crept along silently, behind them, waiting for my chance to strike. They would occasionally pause and sniff and look around, and I would press myself against the ground, careful not to reveal myself too much. After trailing them for a while, they finally paused and started to mill about in their separate ways, talking in that rough guttural language that they use.

Around us were a few rocks and trees that I could use for cover. I rested my hand on the dagger that was strapped to my back and quickly moved to another position. My first target would be the one with the sword. It was the biggest threat to me next to the goblin with the club and then the unarmed one. I moved around their perimeter, trying my hardest to make sure that I couldn’t be seen. As for my smell, I cannot do much about that, but hopefully, it was subdued enough by the environment to hide me.

After stalking the goblin with the sword for quite some time, it finally got into a position where I could attack him. His back was turned and he was picking through the flowers on the ground, looking for something. I felt a grin cross my face, and I reached behind my back and drew the dagger from its sheath. I felt my heart pump in anticipation as I crept closer to the goblin. Thus was such a rush; I was so happy to be able to live my dream finally.

I took a slow deep breath and focused on my target. There was no need to get ahead of myself. I clenched the hilt of the dagger and moved across the remaining distance as fast as I could. I covered the goblin's mouth and plunged my blade into its throat. The tip of the blade was further amplified by piercing strike. It sunk into its flesh with no resistance, and the goblin let out a strangled cry as it collapsed into a heap.

I ignored the blinking lights of my notifications and glanced around. Unfortunately, it seemed like my luck had run out. The other two had noticed me. I spun around and steadied my blade in my hand and summoned a chain in my other. They rushed toward me with anger in their eyes with almost no hesitation. I threw the chain in my left hand out in a wide arc, and it wrapped around the unarmed goblin, causing it to trip and fall as it bound him. I kept my hand on the chain as I looked at the other goblin. It had it raised its club high into the air as it charged me. It was yelling something out through clenched teeth that I could hardly understand. I pointed my dagger up towards him, and I threw the chain towards the other goblin since he was bound for now. I had to take care of this guy before the other got up.

The goblin closed the distance and swung his club towards me as hard as it could. I couldn’t take that impact head-on. I wasn’t wearing any armor, and it would do serious damage to me and potentially incapacitate me. I stepped back, and it over swung and stumbled forward. So I lunged as soon as I saw my chance and slashed across its exposed shoulder with my dagger. It shrieked and swung its club at with a harsh backswing that I was just barely able to dodge. I stepped back and summoned a fireball and threw it at its face.and scrambled backward. I quickly glanced towards the other goblin saw that it managed to escape its chains. I went ahead and canceled the spell so I can focus on using mana elsewhere. This wasn’t good. It was two against one, and I wasn't sure how I was going to win this.
