As Sheng Li's birthday grew closer and closer, Xiu Mo soon realized something. Had Sheng Li... grown taller? Before, Sheng Li had been shorter and thinner than a child his age would normally be, but now— he seemed to be the opposite.

Xiu Mo was of course happy to see this. A spoiled Sheng Li who was healthy mentally and physically was Xiu Mo's goal. It may take time and effort, but Xiu Mo was more then willing to do so to achieve his goal.

His first step in spoiling the cute hamster villian with gifts was: Buy the little beauty a Bakery! 

That way he could have all the sweet desserts he wants, within reason though!

His second step was to buy expensive clothes and accessories!

Sheng Li, "?_?"

Xiu Mo who was holding a camera, "Just one more outfit!"

Finally, Xiu Mo's last gift was a— it was a small but cute hairpin that had a cartoonish little hamster character protruding out of one the ends. It was childish, but endearing and sweet.

Sheng Li looked at it, then glanced up at Xiu Mo who was akwardly scratching his cheek, which were flushed an embarrassed red. He obviously knew that this gift was childish and didn't suit the mature cutie Sheng Li. 

Xiu Mo faltered for a moment before slowly explaining his gift, nervously clutching at the heated blanket that covered his legs. "Well... when I saw this hairpin, I couldn't help but think of you. Then I remembered that you would always try and cover your eyes with your bangs. I thought that maybe a hairpin would make you more... I don't know, confident? Like how if someone wore an outift they liked and thought they looked good in, they would feel more confident. Hn, does that make sense? Anyways, what i'm trying to say is: You have pretty eyes, and your face is really cute. Please don't try and hide it..?"

Sheng Li listened patiently as Xiu Mo rambled on awkwardly, his heart being blanketed in a layer of sweet honeyed syrup and turning into a happy and saccharine heart candy. 

He understood what Xiu Mo was trying to say, even if he didn't explain it in the best way. 

Sheng Li had been yelled at and beaten before because his parents didn't like his stare, taking it as provocation when they were mad. So, he would use his long bangs to hide his eyes, and soon it just kind of became a habit. 

Though now he didn't need to worry anymore. The consideration that Xiu Mo always showed him and his sweet spoiling was like a fluffy cat showing his soft belly to Sheng Li, it was a show of trust as well as a way to show that Xiu Mo had accepted Sheng Li wholeheartedly. This gave Sheng Li a level of security that he hadn't felt in a long time.

Sheng Li gently rubbed the hairpin, laughing softly to himself as he looked up at the nervous Xiu Mo. Then, he gave Xiu Mo a geniune and unadulterated smile, one that showed nothing but pure and sweet joy.

Xiu Mo coughed into his fist to cover up the mini heart-attack that he had just suffered, smiling happily as Sheng Li asked him to help put on the hairpin.

"Pfft!" Xiu Mo couldn't help but to laugh as he looked at the silly but endearing appearance of Sheng Li, his eyes curving into joyful crescents.

Sheng Li looked up dazedly at Xiu Mo, then looked down at the small mirror that Xiu Mo had magically pulled out. After a pause, he too began to laugh.

It was a warm birthday, filled with the comfort of having their loved one beside them.

Suprisingly Sheng Li actually began to wear the hairpin, and even after the embarrassed Xiu Mo explained that he didn't have to wear it, he still wore it.

Ah, happy times. 

The next morning, Xiu Mo realized something was... wrong. Sheng Li had been awake long before Xiu Mo was up, and this breakfast... seemed a bit too simple for the flashy and boisterously proud chef that he had hired. Also, when Sheng Li came and woke him up for breakfast, he seemed to be wearing the cute cartoon bear apron that he bought. "..."

It seems that he has unnlocked a precious and holy treasure by accident. This meal! He was unworthy of it!

Who knew, the key all along to this treasure was a hamster hairpin, ah.

Also, he even got to see a beautiful and rare scenery along the way!
