When Tai Na arrived in front of him, Jin Ling gave her a smile just like with Yin Lin Lin before. "You came." He reached out and pro-actively took her hand, using the moment when she lowered her head and smiled sweetly to glance behind her.

He couldn’t help but be a little annoyed. His plan had been to have Yin Lin Lin in the demon realm and her here in the Nine Heavens to be able to use both of them separately without causing more headaches for himself because two women were fighting over him. But it seemed that after today, he wouldn’t be able to use this one anymore.

Well, if she had been this easily detected, then her value probably wasn’t as high as he had hoped anyway. Most likely, just sticking with Yin Lin Lin would be better for him. At the very least, he could still use her status and connections somewhat. Even if she had been exiled from the Nine Heavens after her wedding with him became public, that didn’t mean that there wouldn’t be people willing to still help her secretly. After all, her father had been well-respected and she had had quite a few admirers because of her appearance. Those were all people that could be made use of.

Jin Ling didn’t say anything about the fact that Tai Na had been followed and just turned his attention back to her as if nothing had happened. In any case, he didn’t believe that the gods would just attack. Even though he had come alone, it would be better for them to question her instead of him. After all, the likelihood of him escaping was pretty high considering the gifts of the demons. And if they appeared but didn’t manage to catch him, he would be wary in the future and not easily expose himself again. What would they have won then?

On the other hand, if he pretended not to be aware of their presence, then they had hope that he hadn’t noticed them. This would allow them to come up with some kind of plan to find out what they wanted whether that was by interrogating Tai Na or using her to set a trap for him.

In any case, this was the logical solution and no matter who exactly it was that had followed her, he believed that the titled gods of the Nine Heavens weren’t stupid enough not to think of that no matter who it was. Thus, he relaxed and started his act with Tai Na. "How have you been faring? Are they treating you better in the Nine Heavens than in the mortal realm?"

Tai Na nodded immediately. "Yes, I don’t have any problems. With Yin Lin Lin gone, there’s nobody who would make things difficult for me. I haven’t made trouble for anyone. It was just her alone who wanted me gone." Her eyes lit up at his question, happy that Jin Ling worried so much about her well-being. He clearly loved her a lot. "What about her? You took her back to the demon realm. She’s probably quite happy?" To be honest, she was jealous of Yin Lin Lin for having the opportunity to follow him. She could absolutely forgo her wish for revenge if only she would be able to be happy with Jin Ling. Being with the man she loved … wasn’t that much more important than paying back Yin Lin Lin? As long as she didn’t need to see her anymore, everything was well.

Jin Ling nodded faintly and tugged at her hand, pulling her into the shadow of a tree, and sitting down on the ground. It seemed quite casual as if he really didn’t have his guard up around her, making her feel that she was special in his eyes. "Don’t worry. She was definitely quite happy at first but I think she is slowly realizing that my heart isn’t really with her." He raised Tai Na’s hand and gently kissed it. "Don’t think too much about it. I’ll pay her back for you. And then, I’ll bring you over to the demon realm so that you can live at my side. I just need a bit more time."

Tai Na hurriedly nodded. "Yes, don’t worry about me. I’m patient. I can wait for as long as you need me to."

Jin Ling’s expression brightened up a little. What an obedient little goddess. It really made things too easy for him. "Well, speaking of making things up to you … I recently found a trace of the dragon king and the Son of Heaven’s mortal reincarnation in the mortal realm. What happened to you was also because of them. Do you want me to pay them back for you as well?"

He wasn’t as forthright with her as he was with Yin Lin Lin because it was quite obvious that Tai Na wasn’t out for revenge as much as that idle goddess was. She had clearly been unhappy with Yin Lin Lin because of the years she had been serving under her needing to accept her temper, but she didn’t really have any grievances with the Son of Heaven or the dragon king so it was unlikely that she would be very eager in this situation.

Just as expected, Tai Na shook her head. "No, don’t do anything. If you were to move against them, I’m afraid you would just get into trouble. After what happened before, the Heavenly Emperor is sure to have somebody keep an eye on his son and the people of the dragon race will probably also be more careful. It would be dangerous for you."

Jin Ling leaned closer and kissed her on the forehead. "You are thinking so much on my behalf. I feel terrible for being not being able to do more for you."

Tai Na shook her head. "Don’t think like that. You don’t need to do anything for me. Just take care of yourself. I’ll be happy with that." Her smile brightened. To her, it really was the most important that Jin Ling was well so that, in the future, the two of them could lead a happy life together. That was all she wished for.
