Leng Jin Yu wasn’t the only one who pondered what he thought to be memories from his past life. Even though some days had already passed since Jing Yi ate the Beguiling Night Tree’s fruit and even though he had talked about it with Qiu Ling, he couldn’t forget about it.

As soon as he closed his eyes, he once again felt the sensation of that man’s arms around his waist and the breath that tickled his ear. Sometimes, he even believed to be able to smell the faint scent of a person. He shuddered involuntarily whenever he remembered and hastily opened his eyes.

It helped to be around Qiu Ling but when he finally fell asleep that scene would be there again, haunting him in his dreams, waking him up each night until he was afraid to go to sleep.

The worst thing was that he felt like things were becoming clearer and clearer with each repeat of that dream. He could see details he hadn’t noticed before when the two of them stood in front of that painting like how there were some flowers drawn especially clear as if they held a special meaning to him or the way the pavilion’s roof was shaped somewhat differently from the ones he had seen in the Long kingdom’s capital as if this had happened in a different kingdom.

These details finally managed to smother the last bit of doubt that this might just be something he had imagined because he was sure that he wouldn’t be able to make something this detailed up. So, this had to be a memory from his past life. He couldn’t explain it to himself in any other way.

Jing Yi felt like he was going crazy but there was nothing he could do against it. He wondered if he should bring it up to Qiu Ling. After all, his lover hadn’t minded before. Maybe he would know what to do? But then again, he also didn’t want to make trouble again. So far, he had only ever made more work for Qiu Ling. It would be good if he finally managed to not create problems or at least solve them on his own.

He bit his lower lip when he thought of that and tried to think deeply. This had all started because of the fruit from the Beguiling Night Tree. From what Hong Ai and Qiu Ling had said, he had lost consciousness because he hadn’t been able to take in the spiritual energy since his level was too low. Maybe … this meant that this would automatically stop after he managed to raise his level and use the excess energy for his cultivation?

He felt like it was worth giving it a try but he was hardly in the situation to do so. After all, they were still in the Hei Dian Sect and had to do a mission. So, most likely, they would need to finish that one first and everything could only return to normal after they got back to the Yun Zou Sect.

Having thought it through, Jing Yi decided to throw himself into accomplishing the mission Yuchi Bing Xia had given him. In any case, it shouldn’t be that hard. With having found Hong Bao and her sister, they had already achieved a big part of it. They knew where the two disciples were, they had made sure that they were safe, and … actually, they also knew that they weren’t really in danger. This was just something that was difficult to report back. Especially without knowing any further details. Thus, Jing Yi made it his first task to find out more about the backstory.

Needless to say, this part was pretty easy. Since Hong Bao was still adamant about organizing his wedding with Qiu Ling he didn’t even need to think up a reason to spend time with her. He just went over to the Grandmaster’s palace again, asking the servant at the entrance to lead him inside so he could talk with her.

When Hong Bao heard that Jing Yi had come to see her, she was naturally happy. If she could, she would have planned her own wedding with Liu Cheng but, for the time being, just organizing Jing Yi’s with Qiu Ling was also alright. It was better than nothing.

Thus, as soon as she saw him, she pulled him into the room and made him sit down at the table. Then, she couldn’t help but look behind him. "Huh? Where’s Qiu Ling?" Shouldn’t he also be here to plan the wedding? After all, he had seemed pretty excited about it before. If he wasn’t there, he might feel like he missed out. That wouldn’t do! "Should I go and get him? Or maybe I could send one of the servants over while we already discuss?"

Jing Yi smiled wryly at how straightforward she was. "That … Well, Qiu Ling still has something to do. I think we can just talk a bit about it before and see what we come up with. If he doesn’t like it, we can still change it."

"Oh." Hong Bao was a little disappointed but she still sat down with Jing Yi to give it a go. In any case, they would still get to plan a wedding.

Or at the very least, that was what she thought. Before Hong Bao could even start to question him on what he wanted, Jing Yi already struck.

"Say, what I was wondering about … You’re so interested in helping us organize our wedding, have you done this before? Maybe for your sister?" Right now, her sister’s marriage with the Hei Dian Sect’s Grandmaster was the biggest clue they had. Thus, he wanted to start with this.

Hong Bao shook her head though. "No, when the two of them got married, I wasn’t even here anymore."

Jing Yi raised his brows. "Not here? What do you mean?"

Seeing his curious gaze, Hong Bao couldn’t help herself. The fact that she thought that the story of how her sister and brother-in-law met and got together was incredibly helpful as well. Thus, she started to chatter away and just a few hours later, Jing Yi had already heard the whole story of how Hong Ai had ended up in the Hei Dian Sect.

The result left him speechless though.
