Apparently, I forgot to update this yesterday. Whoops! >.< Well, here it is. Today's chapter will also go up in a bit.

Jing Yi was liberated from having to deal with Hong Bao alone soon enough. While Qiu Ling had indeed listened to him and looked around all the other divisions of the Hei Dian Sect apart from the alchemy division, that kind of task naturally couldn’t keep him occupied for long.

Even though he usually didn’t care, he was still the dragon king and had led his realm for millennia. If he put his mind to it, there was hardly a task he couldn’t solve. Right now, he actually wanted to spend time with his beloved but this stupid mission was always get in the way. As a smart dragon, he naturally understood what the best way to solve this pesky problem was: Clear the mission, then spend time with his beloved.

Thus, quite untypical for him, Qiu Ling had earnestly worked for a few hours. Contrary to Jing Yi who needed to try and lure other people like that Nian Hai or Hong Bai into telling him something, Qiu Ling had better ways to fish for information.

He first found a corner out of view and then hid his figure from mortal eyes. Standing there for a moment, his brows faintly drew together. Back in the village of the Zhongs or even the capital city of the Long kingdom, this had been a very dependable method. Right now, it was much less so.

As soon as a person stepped onto the path to ascension, they entered a realm between being mortal and immortal. The higher the level they reached either as a cultivator or a practitioner, the more they would close in on being an immortal themselves. Thus, a high-level cultivator or practitioner would also be able to see through this kind of simple spell.

While the disciples and even most of the Elders were still too weak to make a difference, it was different altogether for people that had been practicing for millennia like that Grandmaster Shen and his wife. Thus, if he happened upon either of them, this wouldn’t help at all. Also, he might very well give away his true reason for being here.

Qiu Ling looked up at the sky and sighed. It really wasn’t easy having to stay in the mortal realm. Why couldn’t his beloved cultivate a little faster and ascend already? He wanted to return to their simple life in the Nine Heavens. Ah, no, screw that! He wanted to go back, get married, and then take Jing He to the dragon realm to enjoy the blissful life of a married couple.

Mn. Qiu Ling nodded to himself. Yes, just thinking of it, he felt filled with energy. He had to help his beloved finish this stupid mission so they could return to the Yun Zou Sect, get married, and then work on Jing Yi’s cultivation. In any case, the fact that he would get to enjoy married life with his beloved’s mortal reincarnation for a while just made this better. It would ensure that the time until he saw Jing He again wouldn’t seem as long.

After psyching himself up like this, Qiu Ling finally stepped out of the corner and started to explore. The problem of meeting the Grandmaster or his wife? Eh … he’d cross that bridge when he reached it. For now, he would just try to find out as much as he could.

Qiu Ling went straight to the next division. Standing in the entrance and glancing around, he furrowed his brows again though. Well, he was here but what exactly was he supposed to find? If there was some secret plan involved in this whole matter of those two women coming here, then he really couldn’t hope that somebody would have written it all down neatly in a book that they titled 'The Hei Dian Sect’s Secret Plan to Attain World Domination' or something, could he?

Even Qiu Ling wouldn’t believe that that would be the case. Thus, he could only try to find clues elsewhere. Come to think of it, books weren’t bad though. Hadn’t his beloved gotten one from the alchemy division as well? Most likely, every division would have one. Even if they didn’t contain the secret plan of the Hei Dian Sect, they would at least contain more information about the sect. That was a point where they could start.

Having made up his mind, Qiu Ling rushed over to what he deemed the storage building, forcefully opened the door and went to ransack the place. Since he didn’t feel like he had the time, he just picked a row of books, threw in a set of robes for good measure, as well as one of each of the weapons that they had displayed.

Mn, these were actually of quite the poor quality. Could it be the Hei Dian Sect was actually poor and wanted to ask for a ransom for the women to make some more money? He pondered that option for a moment but finally felt that this shouldn’t be the case. Hong Ai had been here for a bit too long to still follow through with that and … who in their mind would pay for Hong Bao? If it was him, he might at most pay somebody to take her off him. But even then, there would probably be another option to achieve that goal.

Well, as sad as it was, it seemed he’d have to look for more clues before I could find the right answer. Thus, he left the storage building he had broken into, as well as the division, and went to the next one, repeating his steps. Soon enough, all of the divisions in the Hei Dian Sect were short on a set of everything a new disciple might need. Actually, they wouldn’t have been able to tell but because of the forcefully opened doors, the disciples and Elders in charge of the storage and registration of new disciples couldn’t help but become a little suspicious.
