Hong Bao soon got over the fact that she had completely forgotten about that and got back to the issue at hand. "Anyway, weren’t we meeting up to plan your wedding? We still haven’t gotten any further yet. We should better hurry up or your fiance will come over and we won’t even have any ideas to talk about."

Jing Yi smiled wryly and then glanced over his shoulder. "It doesn’t look like Qiu Ling is on his way yet so I doubt we need to hurry. He went to find a division he can join today. With having to look at all of them, it might take quite some time."

Hong Bao immediately pouted when he said that. "Are you sure that he’ll even manage to come over then?"

Jing Yi actually felt bad when he saw how disappointed she was but he reminded himself that this was all for the mission. He couldn’t be softhearted now. Thus, he lightly cleared his throat to get rid of the awkwardness and then tried to make her give up that line of thought. "Well, I can’t be sure but I’m sure he’ll try his best."

Hong Bao still wasn’t convinced though. "This is the first talk we have about your wedding. First, he’s late, then he might not come at all. Is he really taking this seriously? Marriage isn’t something that should be taken lightly."

Jing Yi blinked his eyes, feeling that Hong Bao suddenly sounded so mature when she said that. It really was a stark contrast compared to before when she had been praising Liu Cheng so much. "I can see where you’re coming from but I assure you that Qiu Ling is very serious about this. Look at it this way: The wedding is just a single day. What’s really important is the life that we built together, right? And since we fled the righteous faction … we need to start building completely from the beginning. So he is also doing this for me, just like I joined the alchemy division so I can be of better help to him." While the backstory was naturally bogus, his thoughts on the matter were indeed like this.

The wedding was just a ceremony for formality’s sake but it was more important how they lived together. That didn’t mean that he didn’t want that ceremony or anything but he just felt that he wouldn’t doubt Qiu Ling if he didn’t take the planning as seriously as he took things in their everyday life.

Well, in any case, there was no reason to worry about this. Qiu Ling was incredibly excited about planning and especially holding this wedding. He had needed quite a bit of patience to stop him from coming along when he went to see Hong Bao. Only after cajoling him for almost half an hour, getting out of about two dozen hugs, and giving him at least half a dozen kisses as a consolation, had Qiu Ling finally been willing to let him go alone. He clearly hadn’t been happy though. So, if one of them should be accused of not taking this seriously, it definitely wasn’t Qiu Ling. Instead, it was Jing Yi himself who was just using this wedding as an excuse to get more information out of Hong Bao.

"Speaking of which … Qiu Ling and I made the decision to run away together. It was difficult, actually, because I was originally happy at the sect but our love was more important to us. But … when you told me about your lover before, I couldn’t help but wonder how he would handle it that you have relations with the Hei Dian Sect. After all, it’s a demonic faction and your brother-in-law even has some demon blood from what I understood. Is Liu Cheng really alright with that?"

This question … he felt like he already knew the answer. He had seen how Liu Cheng had killed Yawen in cold blood. And Yawen had been an innocent woman who might not have had anything to do with the deaths of the field workers. On the other hand, Shen An De was the Grandmaster of the leading sect in the demonic faction. His reputation outside should be pretty sinister. Certainly, Liu Cheng would also see him as a vile demon.

Hong Bao didn’t seem perturbed though. "Why would that be a problem? Anyway, senior martial brother Liu is definitely in love with me and wants to marry me. He definitely wouldn’t care who my brother-in-law is. Anyway, don’t you think my sister’s husband is really nice? Why would anyone have anything against him?"

"Well …" Jing Yi’s expression was complicated. "Because he is a demon and the other person a demon hunter?" It seemed quite obvious to him.

Hong Bao still didn’t seem to get his drift though. "Ah, but we only go and hunt demons after people call us because of them, right? And who would call senior martial brother Liu because of my brother-in-law? The people in the sect really like him."

Jing Yi had a hard time finding a way to continue. He really couldn’t understand her way of thinking. No matter what he said, she didn’t seem to see the issue at all. Maybe … maybe things would have been easier if he took Qiu Ling along after all. He was also able to come up with the most absurd theories and jump from one idea to the other. Somehow, he felt that these two might actually be able to get along quite well. They might even find out they were actually soulmates.
