Yun Bei Fen happily smiled when he saw that Luo Lin really seemed to be doing better.

Meanwhile, Mei Chao Bing waited in the doorway, not wanting to disturb the three of them. Even though he was with Yun Bei Fen now, he hadn’t actually met Luo Lin before, not … in a good way, at least. He had heard about him from his little bunny and had seen him yesterday for the first time but then he had been distraught over Shen Lei possible dying. There hadn’t been any introductions. So he still felt like somewhat of an outsider which wasn’t the type of person that should be part of this moment.

Luo Lin might be preoccupied with his little junior but Shen Lei still noticed that there was a person at the door.

He pushed himself up into a sitting position and waved for Mei Chao Bing to come in as well. "No need to awkwardly stand there. Anyway, Fen’er is Xiao Lin’s junior martial brother and you’re his fiance. Why would you be overly polite? Just come on in."

Mei Chao Bing was startled but then, he couldn’t help but think of how Shen Lei had treated him since he and the other older disciples came over to the border region. In any case, he had never been different, had he? Whether it was him or Yun Bei Fen’s first senior martial brother, they had all been accepting of him immediately as if the things in the past with his Master had never happened.

He hesitated for a moment but then inclined his head and closed the door behind him, walking closer and pulling a chair over. "Don’t mind if I do then. I hope you are both doing better." He couldn’t help but look at Shen Lei’s arm. Yesterday, after his body had been healed, they had needed to break one arm and leg again, meaning that he wasn’t completely back to full health yet. But today, he already seemed to be doing a lot better. In fact, it seemed almost as if he was back to normal.

Luo Lin couldn’t help but look at his fiance, a hint of worry in his gaze. He reached out, rubbing his shoulder while looking at his arm as well.

Shen Lei reached over, hugging his waist and gently rubbing his side to calm him down. "To be honest, I’m already doing much better than yesterday. In fact, my arm …" He raised it and turned it around, not feeling the slightest hint of how badly injured he had been before. "It seems to be alright again although I can’t say the same thing about my leg. But well, I can’t expect too many miracles, can I?"

Mei Chao Bing slightly furrowed his brows. In fact, a few miracles weren’t too bad but this seemed a little strange. He wasn’t quite sure how to bring it up without sounding as if he didn’t wish him well though.

Well, he didn’t need to either. Shen Lei looked at him and then motioned over to the door. "Actually, considering that you’re here, could you do me a favor? I am a little puzzled as well in regard to this matter." He raised his arm again and then sighed. "I think ultimately, it’s a good thing but I would still like to know what is really going on. So if that martial sister from the Zhen Yan Sect is still here, I’d love to talk to her. It’s just inconvenient for me to go and see her myself so if you could ask her to come over, that’d be great."

Mei Chao Bing didn’t hesitate and got up immediately, just reaching out to rub Yun Bei Fen’s head. "Well, I’ll go then. Fen’er, you’ll stay with your third senior martial brother, won’t you?"

Yun Bei Fen looked up, a little sad to see his lover go but then, he also didn’t want to leave immediately now that he finally had his third senior martial brother back. He was still worried about him after all.

Mei Chao Bing smiled at his tangled expression and rubbed his head again, leaning down to kiss his temple. "You don’t need to worry. I’ll only be gone for a moment to see where senior martial sister Taishu is and then I’ll bring her back here. At best, it will only take a few minutes. At worst, she’s currently out, but then I’ll come back in between after making sure of that."

Yun Bei Fen finally nodded but still got up to give him a hug before watching Mei Chao Bing leave. Only then did he turn back to the bed, sitting down on the edge again and reaching out to take Luo Lin’s hands. "I’m so happy that you’re doing better, third senior martial brother. I was worried about you. The border region really isn’t a good place."

Luo Lin nodded, and gently squeezed his hand before turning to look at his fiance. "Well, it certainly isn’t a good place but at the very least, we’re all alive. Sometimes, that is enough. Everything else, we can still worry about at a later time."

Shen Lei nodded and leaned closer, resting his head against Luo Lin’s. "That’s true. And anyway, aren’t you also happy to have your first and third senior martial brother here, as well as me and your fiance? I think that all things considered, that is not too bad. Now, only your second senior martial brother is missing or this would almost feel like back home at the sect."

Yun Bei Fen blinked his eyes, remembering that he also had a second senior martial brother. "True. I wonder what second senior martial brother is doing right now. He should’ve come with you when you came here."

Luo Lin smiled and freed one of his hands from Yun Bei Fen’s grasp, reaching over to take Shen Lei’s other hand. "Well, he might not be here, but he was the one who gave me that thing I used to find Ah Lei. So he also did his part in this. If not for that, who knows if I would have been in time?"

Yes, indeed, if not for his second senior martial brother, he probably wouldn’t have been able to make it. And by now, instead of lying in bed side-by-side, being able to whisper sweet somethings into each other’s ears, he would now be hugging a cold corpse. That was something he didn’t even want to think about.

Luo Lin leaned closer to his lover, gently kissing his lips. Anyway, from now on, he would hold onto him tightly and not let anything happen to him. Next time they went out, they would do so together. No matter what the other side was planning, at the very least, they would live or die together.
