Mei Chao Bing wasn’t completely sure what to expect but seeing Yan Hong Min rush out of the room, it at least seemed that he had been able to convince him to give it a try. While this might not be a guarantee for this to work, it was already the most he could expect in the current situation. And he would take all the help he could get.

He had the urge to get up and follow after him, wanting to take a look and check how things were going but he forced himself to stay where he was. Judging by the fact that he had been brought here instead of to Yan Hong Min’s study where he had probably been before and had now returned to, this meant that Yun Bei Fen’s second senior martial brother likely didn’t want him over there. If he just went over to disturb him, then he was afraid that he might slow the whole process down. That wasn’t what he wanted.

Time slowly passed by and Mei Chao Bing couldn’t help but wonder if maybe he should have gone to do something else in the meantime and just come and checked on Yan Hong Min’s progress in the evening. But then, it also wasn’t like he had anything to do in the sect.

Really, who was here that he could go to? Yun Bei Fen and two of his senior martial brothers were in the border region, so was Song Mu who could probably be considered somewhat of a friend again, and the few people who had come around to not seeing him as a traitor were all disciples that were also on the mission over there.

The ones left in the sect were the ones who still regarded him in the same way that they had before he left. If he went out now, no matter who he approached, he would be ignored just as he had been before. He didn’t want to do that to himself.

Mei Chao Bing closed his eyes and sighed faintly. Originally, he hadn’t minded. Most of it had blown over by now and all that was left was a hint of worry in everyone and the feeling that they shouldn’t associate with him.

It hadn’t bothered him too much. Of course, he hadn’t been happy about it but he had felt that it was something that he could live with. Now though, he started to realize that this wouldn’t be enough.

While he could take it, Yun Bei Fen wouldn’t. He had seen how he had reacted in the border region when Yang Wu Huang was trying to slander him. His little bunny, even though he seemed quite meek usually, he became a furious little lion when the reputation of the one he loved was at stake.

Really, Yun Bei Fen had guts in that kind of situation. For the ones he considered friends, he would do anything. Because of that, he needed to make sure that he didn’t facilitate a situation where Yun Bei Fen would feel forced to make trouble in the sect. Yes, he had to rebuild his reputation.

Mei Chao Bing’s lips couldn’t help but twitch when he thought of that. This idea was quite nice and he would love to do that but it was hard to say how he was supposed to do this.

Even if they managed to thwart his Master’s plans and bring him to justice in whatever way was possible, it wouldn’t erase his betrayal. And as his disciple, he would always be regarded vigilantly because of that. There was just no way around that.

Then again, Sect Master Zhang had said that he wanted to announce who had contributed to the mission in the border region. And while he didn’t want to praise himself, Mei Chao Bing honestly felt that he had made some outstanding contributions.

After all, while he hadn’t been able to prevent anything back then, he had been able to figure out quite a few things this time around. And if they continued in the direction that they had been going in all this time, then there was a very good chance that they would be able to prevent his Master from realizing whatever vision it was he had. He was sure that he would be able to help with that.

So if that information was publicized in the sect after the fact, that should help, right? Then after that, he could work on further rebuilding his reputation step by step. The words from the others who had been in the border region together with him would likely help. Especially if even people like Ao Jing who had originally been against him spoke up in his favor.

Mei Chao Bing paused when he thought of that. Right. There were still Ao Jing and Yang Wu Huang. He didn’t know if the latter was still alive but something told him that there was a certain chance that this was the case.

Anyway, Yang Wu Huang was against him and a famous disciple of their generation. He didn’t really think that his Master had a reason to kill him. No, on the contrary, helping him plot against him would be more in his favor because that might drive him away from the Teng Yong Sect and instead towards the demonic faction’s Wu Yun Sect.

Yes, there was a big chance that Qu Yijun had left Yang Wu Huang alive. Where he was right now … well, his guess was as good as anyone else’s. Maybe they had taken him along or maybe they had just left him where he was and Yang Wu Huang had decided to not take any risks and was hiding away somewhere. There was indeed a chance of that having happened.

Mei Chao Bing believed that Yang Wu Huang wasn’t somebody who would put his own life on the line. No, he would willingly sacrifice others but never himself. If there was anything he could do to keep his life, he would do it.

That in itself was dangerous. And if his Master got desperate because he really needed him for this plan, then teaming up with Yang Wu Huang was something that he wouldn’t be above. That much was for sure.
