Truth be told. My preference for the chapter length is long. I like long chapters but that doesn’t mean small details are stretched. I like it when chapters deliver a lot of the story. Like that “there’s another Wayne?!” Thingy. But if you’re schedule is packed, it’s alright if you don’t release much. As long as at least there’s a chapter or two a week I’m happy. Great work with the series!
well i just like to read a lot and in my opnion it is superbly whritten and schould not need any change.
sofar when i read your story it is clear and easy to visualize.

to be fair, i do both, which is why i LIKE reading slower. i dont use my imagination to fill in blanks i use my imagination to immerse further. so having both plenty of details + my own vivid imagination.. makes for a better experience for me.
ive read stories that just dragged on and on with too much worldbuilding and didnt really care for it, ive read a story (quite recently in fact) that all but lacked details and it straight up sucked.
like you said, subjectivity is key, and i think whatever balance you try to strike will just cause an imbalance elsewhere. which is fine, but its one of those things, knowing or not knowing what changes to make is just the process of experimenting. perhaps a vote of the key factors in a story that people prefer would help. like a 1 - 5 scale of things like how much ppl enjoy: worldbuilding, character personalities, event frequencies, smutty stuffs, sciency plot, etc. idk. like take the elements that make up the story and you can probably better poll what ppl are vibing with and what isnt working (assuming thats what this poll was for)
but, all the indirect technical stuff aside, i just started the story and im loving it so far. 4 or 5 stars from me, when im ready to actually vote for it.
4 star cuz ive learned to look at frequency of releases and i only saw like 30 chapters. probably not really your fault either. even before covid stuff i was living a hermit life, so i get to stay home and read almost all hours of the day. (daddy needs MORE chapters
) but based on the story itself its definitely a 5 star overall.
Thanks. I see what you mean, I'll set up a few more polls in the future. I started off with 1 chapter everyday, but the quality didn't feel good for me. So I went to every other day. And I've just gotten busier and busier with work, college applications and the like. I'm planning out many of the future chapters with my discord, so maybe the releases will start happening faster. I'm currently reading my novel for the first time and taking notes for the 30 chapters that are already posted

and i understand people get busy and the what-not's of life. plus you just cant rush quality. like i said on the story alone its a top scorer to me so, that says something. id like to give it a 4.5 but i dont think stars work that way. either way keep doing what you're doing and dont burn yourself out!
The current amount of description is fine.
Imagine reading novels up to 8 hours a day and not seeing every scene like a 120k 7D movie... Cringe lol
You could add a bit more details, like clothes, what photos are in a living room, the color of the lighting... But that would also change the casualness factor of the novel. If you don't want to change it, but want more vividness, add one or two words here and there that convey the image of the scene you made.

I really want to add more details, but it's so hard in first person. And considering that this is my first novel, I'm probably going to stick to just adding a few more words to give scenes some more umph.

I love to visualise things are the are happening so a lot of the times, I double back to read a part so it sinks into my imagination.
Hmm.. I get what you mean. I'll try to include more of the subtler bits in actions and scenes. It should help with setting tone and mood as well.

That's what I'm shooting for. You shouldn't have to think hard about it. It should be a pretty smooth process. I honed my imagination from an early age so I can enjoy stories that may not be really fleshed out, but I want people newer to reading to enjoy my novel just as much.
I kinda just read the words and translate it into an image. That's why I hate mystery-heavy novels, if they're Sherlock Holmes-type of writing. Movies I like, but written loses me.
Yeah. If it goes too heavy on details, then it becomes very boring to read. Everything starts feel unimportant to the story.
