Eternal business trip? Did they go out for milk and cigs? Or did they actually go on a business trip which went awry i wonder

Parents dead? Maybe in prison for some terrible crime? Divorce/breakup except they both just wanted to ditch their kids? Lost at sea? Plane crash? Who knows, although I wonder if it staying a mystery would be more interesting than just knowing the answer...

I need more and I love the story! Also having her sister's POV and thoughts is a good addition too. So if Eri is ~12-13, hold much older is Mary then? Also that got dark at the end.
And recommendations as to stuff that should/could probably come somewhat soon in the story and make sense is since Eri is probably super scared of Mary kicking her out and not wanting to see her, Mary should hang out more with her? Or maybe Mary and Eri pay games together or have some wholesome scene where they sleep in the same bed? It sounds like they have their own rooms but I can imagine that Eri would want to stay close to Mary because she's scared of her new body or something. Also it might be interesting to see things that her tail does unconsciously like say curling around Mary when hugging, cuddling, or sleeping together?

Oh whoops. Been reading too many gender bender novels lately, took me a chapter more than I'd like to admit before I realized the MC was a female before the transformation
On another note, really liking this so far. I appreciate that you actually put some thought into what age the MC should be for the personality you want for her to work. I've seen too many novels where the author just writes a way-too-mature child or a way-too-immature adult

@WtfIsThis A pack of cigarettes but for most english speakers it's just going to buy something at a corner store or just groceries my personal favourite is still just stepping outside for 5 min to retrieve the newspapper to never being seen again.
